Per request in the original thread, continue the celebration of the beloved star of stage and screen... Dame Angela Lansbury!
I'm currently watching the one where Jessica overhears a phone conversation about an old man being murdered.

"She was one of my favourite all-time stars, Bedknobs and Broomsticks is my favourite movie."

and dead she will remain, but we'll always have Cabot Cove, where the dead remain dead as well.
I'm surprised some little former thriving fishing hamlet in Maine has re-branded itself as Cabot Cove and started hosting weekend murder mysteries.

Ont think there exists a truly great biography of Angela. Maybe we can write it as a DL class assignment?

Has Joaquin Phoenix commented yet? Lately, I've been rewatching the first season (after 20+ years) and I noticed that he played her grand-nephew in one episode.

Apparently Jessica Fletcher's nephew Grady hasn't commented, either.

There will never be another one like her. She was a wonderful.

Is Shangela her sister?

This guy does really great videos about Gays in media, and he did this very lovely and informative video honoring her, especially emphasizing her support of the Gay community and fighting AIDS.

R14 that's a wonderful video, thanks for sharing! Just small things:
I wish he had mentioned her Oscar nomination for The Manchurian Candidate and made more of how sensation in her performance was, plus All Fall Down and Dark At The Top Of The Stairs as two roles that stood out from the deck. A quick mention of her Tony win for Dear World and a snippet of her performing Beauty And The Beast would have been lovely.
Could have mentioned her role as an Irish Grandmother nursing her Grandson who is dying of Aids in The Blackwater Lightship.
She was also almost 97, not 98! Still, I loved watching.

And he didn't need to mention her farting on stage!

If only Lucille Ball were alive to sing the lead the role!

Ahhh, great story about Angela from Kate Mulgrew, and perhaps finally an explanation of why she would do a show as lame as a Star Trek spin off.

R18 - that was wonderful.

R19, that's really true and Mulgrew really has a gift for 'gab' and tells is beautifully.

R18, terrific. Thank you for sharing!

I'm sure someone else must have made this observation, but looking at the photo in OP, I really wish they'd given Jessica's books better titles. THE CORPSE DANCED AT MIDNIGHT was iffy enough. But DIRGE FOR A DEAD DACHSHUND? Come on. Stuff like that makes her sound like a second-rate hack, not the beloved, brilliant writer she's supposed to be. (And the covers weren't great either. Too cheesy.)
Sorry--not really about Angela, but the photo was right there...

What's wrong with "The Corpse Swam By Moonlight"?!
BTW the killer in "The Corpse Danced At Midnight" was the pregnant ballerina!

What an amazing life. Hard to even fathom. All those grand accomplishments, spread basically equal across over 8 decades. She met, worked with, and was friends with so many great people. Just imagine, you're on the MGM lot, then you turn in this incredible, iconic performance in Manchurian Candidate. You try theater. You flop, then triumph! You are the toast of Broadway! Another flop, but you win a Tony for it. You take on Merman- BOOM another Tony.
Sweeney Todd, Murder, She Wrote, Disney, and triumphing on Broadway in your 80s and 90s.
Simply incredible. Imagine anyone having a career remotely close. Will never happen again.
