These kind of articles are ridiculous. How many 70 year old's are recognizable from photos of them when they were 25. People age. But looking at the two photos of her together, I think most people can see the resemblance.

She looks exactly as a I would imagine her to look. Perfectly pleasant. I love that her face isn't pumped up and deformed by surgery.

Shelley was a standout on Cheers. Most of the characters were rather one note. Diane was far more complex and demanding. She was also the only one besides Sam to show character growth.

Kirstie Alley is 71 - and say what you will, her implicit choice for her face over her ass worked as far as wrinkles and aging.

Judi Dench, Julie Walters, and Helen Mirren look more like women who maintain their looks and are in their 70s.

About 20 years ago her now-ex-husband ran off with another woman and immediately started divorce proceedings, forcing Shelley out of her own house so it could be sold and proceeds divided. There were rumors he had been basically harassing her, mostly because he ran to the tabloids after she OD'd and claimed she tried to kill herself over him, but the OD was nearly 2 years after their split. The tabloids ran with it, but I remember a lot of us at the time weren't convinced.

She's 73 and looks it - and who cares? For a lot of gay boys of a certain age, her CHEERS character was the outsider we all identified as. She was smart, empathetic, progressive and misunderstood. Diane Chambers represented a lot of gay boys and Shelley played her with comedic genius.

She absolutely made that show, and all gay boys of any age should bow to her brilliance.

R60, Long still works. She appeared occasionally on Modern Family as Ed O'Neill's first wife, and she does about a movie a year. The movies are all low-budget trash, but it's a paycheck. And if she invested her earnings from early in her career well, she probably doesn't even need that.

From the looks of it, she's in semi-retirement. If she really needed money, she'd probably play the kooky grandma in sitcoms on every streaming service imaginable, but her work habits suggest she only acts to get out of the house for a couple weeks each year.
