Tasteful Friends: the magnificent home of Lady Colin Campbell

LCC has been the butt of many DL jokes, but I must say, her home is fabulous. Castle Goring, the former home of Mary Shelley and other noteables, appears to have been restored to perfection.

Love just about everything about it.

It looks like what would happen if Lennar built a house in 1273AD and TJMAXX was around for decor.

She was married to Lord Colin Ivar Campbell, the younger son of a duke, for less than a year.

Does she really get to keep the "lady" title after the divorce or is she simply continuing to use it and no one is stopping her. Her adopted Russian sons played at using a courtesy title of "count" which is just absurd.

Odd that the dog is on a lead.

Although born female, she had a “genital deformity” (her description, and one she holds to in the face of negative reaction from transgender activists. “How dare they,” she snaps. “It was my deformity, and I shall call it what I like.”) and was mistakenly registered and brought up as a boy in Jamaica. She moved to New York in her teens, had corrective surgery and stayed to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Eeeww... that outside sculpture. Did she order that online from Alibaba?

It leaves me cold. The Georgian side entry hall with the spiral stair looks chunky, industrial, and badly proportioned. I'm not a big fan of freestanding circular stairs and this one reminds me of why; much better to recess half of it in an apsidal recess. The glass some is grand, though, and I like the frankly expressed repairs. The principal rooms are not more than they have to be, just filling out the.minimum requirements. They're not ugly rooms, but a little heavy and lack any sense of progression -- one to another, it's all the same. The pale sherbet and chalky colors and the wedding venue furniture make it look like what is is: a rental venue.

Love the sculpture. It was outside the Dorchester for years.

Where did she get all this financial security? This home alone costs a fortune to maintain.

R7 Is there an estate attached i,e. land? That can be a money spinner. And the main grey castle-looking house is probably rented out for functions and stuff like that.

by Anonymousreply 8October 18, 2022 6:16 PM

The background music is annoying.

by Anonymousreply 9October 18, 2022 6:34 PM

I saw her house on one of those Antique hunter shows. Behind the scenes it's unclean and musty.

by Anonymousreply 10October 18, 2022 6:38 PM

I don't believe there's an estate attached to this castle.

There's background noise in a few spots. Not sure if that's a roadway or a fountain.

Lady Boy George's scary, deformed body scared his husband away.

by Anonymousreply 12December 18, 2022 6:12 AM

Tacky and disgusting just like Lady Boy George

Yeah, it's called a DICK.

That's no "Lady."

by Anonymousreply 14December 18, 2022 6:19 AM

She's a man, baby!

by Anonymousreply 15December 18, 2022 6:21 AM

[quote] She was married to Lord Colin Ivar Campbell, the younger son of a duke, for less than a year.

The marriage was annulled, after Lord Campbell found out what was behind Door Number Two.

R4, personally I don't believe that story. I remember seeing Colin interviewed by Oprah years ago. Oprah didn't seem to buy the backstory either.

by Anonymousreply 17December 18, 2022 6:30 AM

Could you condense this for us, op?

by Anonymousreply 18December 18, 2022 6:31 AM

Colin was much less refined looking and acting when the Oprah interviewed occurred. Wore a huge brimmed hat and came off as very odd. Very off putting to the studio audience.

I think Colin must have worked with professionals over the years to more closely mimic and speak like a female. Has definitely toned down the male-like mannerisms and behavior. But still comes off as a male.

She's a man, baby!

Wokesters like to push Campbell as being an example of an intersex person because they think it supports their transgender agenda.

But all it does it point out how they will believe anything under the sun.

This creature hates Meghan with a passion, because Meghan achieved everything that the Creature Campbell could not.

Meghan married a Prince, became a Duchess, and has a royal title and rank, with children at the high end of the line of succession for the British throne.

The Creature Campbell is seething with hatred and jealousy, and does everything in its very, very, very limited power to diminish Meghan.

It will never work.

Underwhelming. Surprisingly under decorated. Mostly poor color choices. The blue and yellow dining room is atrocious. Not a fan of lime green walls. Very dated in a stuffy 1980's way. Basic. No artistic eye to be found. The self portrait of her looking in a mirror is beyond tacky. She seems to like pearl necklaces.

by Anonymousreply 23December 18, 2022 8:39 AM

The public areas seem minimal and cheap. The private areas seem fine despite all the snootiness here about it.

She seems to indicate the staircase is original to the house so it’s doubtful she could or would get rid of it no matter what you think of it.

by Anonymousreply 24December 18, 2022 8:59 AM

Of course the stair is original to the house, R34. Nobody suggested it wasn't, nor that it be removed/redesigned. I just said way upthread it's inelegant and spidery looking.

Like seeing a mangy dog with three legs, you think "poor thing," not "I'll knit him a fourth leg and a nice coat and he'll be lovely and right again.".

That particular style of dual-fronted1790s country houses, one facade Georgian and the other facade Gothick often has some showy if not always elegant interior elements. The stairway is a big example, and an ugly if interesting one. But no one suggested getting rid of it.
