Wow this one hit me and I was about a decade too old for the Original Pottermania
But he must have meant so much to its fans

He had a fat ass but couldn’t live forever.

He was so funny as Samuel Johnson in "Blackadder." One of my favorite British comedic actors, up there with Brian Blessed.

They’re dropping like flies this year.

Aww, this one makes me sad. May have to watch a Potter marathon this weekend.

Looking forward to the TCM tribute for this one.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 14, 2022 6:04 PM |
That’s sad. He’s was gay, right?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 14, 2022 6:06 PM |
Excuse me R7 I think you mean Murder, She Wrote marathon?

Hopefully TCM will highlight his work in Nuns on the Run rather than his face obscurin’ role in the Potter flicks.

Well, I am surprised he lived this long. He has had lots of health issues being obese with a fatty heart. He always complained his Hagrid costume made him feel ill.

Hagrid was one of the few HP characters whom I found more likeable in the films than the books, thanks to Robbie.

We were just talking about Cracker in the British TV thread. Incredible role.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 14, 2022 7:00 PM |
He was amazing in “Cracker”.

Also one of the very few Harry Potter actors who had the spine to support JK Rowling when she was being attacked

R16 = transphobic reactionary

Oh, I see Coltrane did that "kids these days on Twitter wouldn't have won the war, now would they?" crap when defending JKR. Sad. I didn't know he was one of those British Boomers who wasn't born until after the war, but acted like he was a veteran of it.

r16 which is why you can find a bunch of responses like this
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 14, 2022 7:12 PM |
R18, I guess you wouldn't volunteer if your nation was to be invaded as Britain and the US was in the 1940s.

For several years I thought "Nuns on The Run" was the first time I saw Robbie. Years later I realized he was in "Krull."
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 14, 2022 7:30 PM |
That he defended JKR makes me love him even more.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 14, 2022 7:32 PM |
r1, I booked a flight over. I assume I am set for the return trip

That he cast shade upon that puerile BBC luvvie named Norton makes me appreciate him.

No, but I'll see if Manchurian Candidate and Gaslight is airing anywhere.

Is it true Daniel Radcliffe once rimmed Hagrid?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 14, 2022 10:45 PM |
He was also in GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 14, 2022 11:26 PM |

R16 He doesn't have much spine anymore with my pitchfork in him.
He's done.

Ronnie as Hagrid was perfect.

^ Was being the operative word.

Brilliant in Nuns on the Run, Mona Lisa, Cracker, National Treasure. And one of the few Scots I didn't need subtitles to understand. A sad loss to the Brit entertainment industry.

R6 Yes, they are. With many more to come.
