Who's going to adopt his pet dragon?

by Anonymousreply 1October 14, 2022 5:14 PM

Wow this one hit me and I was about a decade too old for the Original Pottermania

But he must have meant so much to its fans

by Anonymousreply 2October 14, 2022 5:23 PM

He had a fat ass but couldn’t live forever.

by Anonymousreply 3October 14, 2022 5:27 PM

RIP. He was great in Cracker

He was so funny as Samuel Johnson in "Blackadder." One of my favorite British comedic actors, up there with Brian Blessed.

by Anonymousreply 5October 14, 2022 5:43 PM

They’re dropping like flies this year.

by Anonymousreply 6October 14, 2022 5:51 PM

Aww, this one makes me sad. May have to watch a Potter marathon this weekend.

by Anonymousreply 7October 14, 2022 5:56 PM

Looking forward to the TCM tribute for this one.

by Anonymousreply 8October 14, 2022 6:04 PM

That’s sad. He’s was gay, right?

by Anonymousreply 9October 14, 2022 6:06 PM

Excuse me R7 I think you mean Murder, She Wrote marathon?

by Anonymousreply 10October 14, 2022 6:06 PM

Hopefully TCM will highlight his work in Nuns on the Run rather than his face obscurin’ role in the Potter flicks.

by Anonymousreply 11October 14, 2022 6:27 PM

Well, I am surprised he lived this long. He has had lots of health issues being obese with a fatty heart. He always complained his Hagrid costume made him feel ill.

by Anonymousreply 12October 14, 2022 6:30 PM

Hagrid was one of the few HP characters whom I found more likeable in the films than the books, thanks to Robbie.

by Anonymousreply 13October 14, 2022 6:55 PM

We were just talking about Cracker in the British TV thread. Incredible role.

by Anonymousreply 14October 14, 2022 7:00 PM

He was amazing in “Cracker”.

by Anonymousreply 15October 14, 2022 7:01 PM

Also one of the very few Harry Potter actors who had the spine to support JK Rowling when she was being attacked

by Anonymousreply 16October 14, 2022 7:07 PM

R16 = transphobic reactionary

by Anonymousreply 17October 14, 2022 7:08 PM

Oh, I see Coltrane did that "kids these days on Twitter wouldn't have won the war, now would they?" crap when defending JKR. Sad. I didn't know he was one of those British Boomers who wasn't born until after the war, but acted like he was a veteran of it.

by Anonymousreply 18October 14, 2022 7:10 PM

r16 which is why you can find a bunch of responses like this

R18, I guess you wouldn't volunteer if your nation was to be invaded as Britain and the US was in the 1940s.

For several years I thought "Nuns on The Run" was the first time I saw Robbie. Years later I realized he was in "Krull."

by Anonymousreply 21October 14, 2022 7:30 PM

That he defended JKR makes me love him even more.

by Anonymousreply 22October 14, 2022 7:32 PM

r1, I booked a flight over. I assume I am set for the return trip

by Anonymousreply 23October 14, 2022 7:39 PM

[quote] That he defended JKR makes me love him even more.

That he cast shade upon that puerile BBC luvvie named Norton makes me appreciate him.

by Anonymousreply 24October 14, 2022 7:42 PM

[quote]Excuse me [R7] I think you mean Murder, She Wrote marathon?

No, but I'll see if Manchurian Candidate and Gaslight is airing anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 25October 14, 2022 10:38 PM

Is it true Daniel Radcliffe once rimmed Hagrid?

by Anonymousreply 26October 14, 2022 10:45 PM

He was also in GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough

by Anonymousreply 27October 14, 2022 11:26 PM

From Potter actors.

R16 He doesn't have much spine anymore with my pitchfork in him.

He's done.

by Anonymousreply 31October 15, 2022 12:32 AM

Ronnie as Hagrid was perfect.

by Anonymousreply 32October 15, 2022 6:41 AM

^ Was being the operative word.

by Anonymousreply 33October 15, 2022 9:19 AM

Brilliant in Nuns on the Run, Mona Lisa, Cracker, National Treasure. And one of the few Scots I didn't need subtitles to understand. A sad loss to the Brit entertainment industry.

by Anonymousreply 34October 15, 2022 9:25 AM

R6 Yes, they are. With many more to come.

by Anonymousreply 35October 15, 2022 9:28 AM

Any comments from his brothers John and Roscoe P.?

Susan Dey???

by Anonymousreply 36October 15, 2022 10:48 AM

have they explained yet how he died? 72 is not that old.
