TRUSS: Your majesty.
CHARLES: So you’ve come back again.
TRUSS: It’s a great pleasure.
CHARLES: Dear, oh dear. Anyway….
At least there's a Major Johnny sighting.

'Dear, oh dear" is British for "Bless your heart."

Well, he's right. That being said, the Queen would never have done this. I didn't realise how prickly Charles was until he became King.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 13, 2022 1:14 PM |
Is it because of that, er, "curtsy" of hers?

The Economist on the Premiership of Liz Truss: "The shelf-life of a Lettuce."
"Ms Truss entered Downing Street on September 6th. She blew up her own government with a package of unfunded tax cuts and energy-price guarantees on September 23rd. Take away the ten days of mourning after the death of the queen, and she had seven days in control. That is the shelf-life of a lettuce."

A Twit King and the Wilting Lettuce Prime Minister.
Great combo.

Charles appears to be a better monarch than his mom already.

Tories down to 19% giving Labour a 34 point lead in latest poll from the Torygraph
[quote]Prof Matthew Goodwin, the pollster behind the research, told the newspaper [£]: “These numbers mean that Liz Truss is more unpopular than Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn ever were – she is basically in what I would call Prince Andrew territory.”

Should also note, her current director of communications is Andrew's former media advisor (in fairness he quit shortly before the Newsnight interview)

When is the next general election?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 13, 2022 8:45 PM |
If they leave it until the latest date they must call one, then January 2025. But them PM can call one whenever they want before then.

He's on the joke right ? he's trolling us , right ?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 13, 2022 8:48 PM |
So Truss can wait it out for another two years? That's going to be some pretty wilted lettuce by then.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 13, 2022 8:49 PM |
This will be entertaining. She previously supported republicanism when she was young, then had to change position as she rose through the arch-monarchist Tory ranks. And the monarch is already sending her up. Great stuff.

She's his boss.

I prefer King Charles II, he's got a cute little ass
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 13, 2022 8:54 PM |
Perfect encapsulation of the rot in British society. Both of them are wankers.

Does anyone good at history trivia know the correct number of anti royalist prime ministers? I’m American, sorry. Apparently she was anti royalist at school previously, and as I recall she bowed to QE2, but curtsies to King Charles? Perhaps one can be hard core Tory as she appears to be, yet either accept or eschew the concept of Royalty. I’m not criticizing, I just have concern and compassion for anyone that is subjected to the extreme rationing of resources that she seems to endorse. It’s even more pathetic when I find out she is trapped in a self inflicted immaturity vortex in the form of a continuous life long childish rebellion against her socialist father. Sad and scary

r12 Theoretically, but the Tory party is unlikely to allow that to happen. There's talk now of a plan to replace her with a 'caretaker' PM. Of course, the issue is who would want it right now, since it's practically a guarantee they'll lose the next election.

He is saying “dear oh dear” as sympathy for her having to circle back to meet him so quickly.
If you don’t understand understated British humour it’s probably best not to comment.
I can understand that having had a Head of State who talked about grabbing women by the pussy, that your perspective might be somewhat skewed.

R19 for the patronizing comment win.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 13, 2022 11:25 PM |
She's a totally stupid inept cunt but the whole country knew that and the Tory membership still voted her in. They deserve everything they get.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 13, 2022 11:29 PM |
Truss tried to start off in the way she thinks Thatcher did, with a dose of shock therapy for the country, but she forgot that Thatcher spent at least 2 years preparing for the battles she wanted to fight.
One of the main problems Truss has is that she always lacked support from the Conservative MOs in parliament, and now they are certain she is tanking the economy and destroying their careers. Regardless of whether they are motivated by the national interest or self-interest, they now have reason to want rid of her.

r19 That's a really dumb take, given how many Brits - including most of the newspapers - are joking about it
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 13, 2022 11:36 PM |
No, r19 our perception is skewed because we have a pretend president who molested his daughter in the shower.

r8 Andrew's investigation from the US was going on for years, so he get's no points for leaving a day early when he was likely working to cover up Andrew's shit the entire time he was on the job.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 14, 2022 8:10 PM |
Practically the first ting Truss did after he became king was stop him addressing the climate conference where he's spoken before. And then she wants to restart fracking. He'd be delighted to see the back of her and likely won't have to wait too long.

"Oh dear"? Is Charles a DLer? This board will self-combust if he calls out "MARY!"
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 14, 2022 11:23 PM |
I wouldn't go if i were Harry if the issue is Camilla. She broke up his mother's marriage. Yes i know Charles played his part.
