This started decades ago with the Britney & Christina MTV appearance, her album guests such Timberlake and Ye, among others, the Kardashians, now, Terri Joe.

To be fair, Madonna isn't the only superstar to reach and ride this phase, if they still want the attention and want to work,

Streisand, in her later career, did it too. Tony Bennett with Lady GaGa, etc.

The difference with those from Madonna is Streisand's latter career duet partners ( Daisy Riddley, Seth McFarland, GaGa with Bennett) rose to meet the superstar where the superstar is.

Madonna. pitifully does the opposite. She, in appearance and attitude, tries to meet her younger, hipper partners where THEY are.

Also, of course, Streisand has some sense of professional standards of presentation and performance. Madonna, in her all-powerful prime, did too.
