I noticed this back in the talk show days of Phil, Sally, Geraldo, etc. & they all said on the trans panels that if they acted/appeared more masculine that the feelings would go away. Some were encouraged to sign up for hyper-masculine jobs like the military & it never made them feel like bio males. The medical community would tell them this even back in the 80s & 90s.

Used to have a hairdresser in Hollywood who was a former high school star football player and USMC decorated marine. Did everything possible to please her Southern Black mother. Didn't work.

Then spent a year dressing as a woman and going thru intense counseling before being allowed to take hormones to physically transition. Much happier as a woman.

What athletes would fit the OP's description?

Microsoft executive Michael Wallent. Married to a woman and had two kids with her. Decided to transition and in the process got another woman pregnant. Transitioned to Meghan and now lives as a man again.

I had a trans acquaintance who I knew in NYC. She was a member of the Israeli army for 10 years before she transitioned. She got so much electrolysis that she then got her licence and is an electrolysist now. She moved to Buenos Aires and I moved back to London, so I haven't been in touch in ages, but I remember she loved her time in the army and told lots of stories of what it was like.

Instead, I found Ashley Nefzger, a transgender active duty Navy Seal who did this interview with Anderson Cooper.

However, from watching the interview I don't get the impression that Ashley lived life as a masculine man prior to transitioning.

I really would pay money to know what Anderson was thinking. Also, why the heavy face and eye makeup? What military woman would present like that?

There does seem to be an usually (proportionally) high number of MTFs who used to be in the military - Rachel Levine has already been mentioned above, and wasn't Charlotte Clymer in the military in some capacity? It is not possible for men to "transition" into being a woman (or vice versa). Womanhood is not a costume. All these men have done is present as feminine which is purely superficial. There is no such thing as a trans "woman" (or trans "man"). These are autogynephiles and, in some cases, mentally ill people suffering from gender dysphoria. Stop fucking enabling them.
