I played Olivia de Havilland on Ryan Murphy's Feud: Bette and Joan, but other than that any connection I would have was through my father-in-law.

Janis Paige just turned 100.

by Anonymousreply 3October 13, 2022 5:16 AM

Kevin Bacon- but now it only takes him 5 degrees because they ain’t many old people left.

by Anonymousreply 4October 13, 2022 5:18 AM

Well...me. My face would never be on TV if not for my ties to old hollywood.

After all, she appeared in a film with Buster Keaton, Gloria Swanson, and Cecil B. DeMille.

Actually, RJ Wagner is old Hollywood. He grew up in Bel Air and lived next door to good friends Edie Mayer Goetz and her husband Bill Goetz who were the social power couple for almost forty years. RJ was connected to everyone.

I'll be very, very, VERY sad when Julie Andrews dies, but that has more to do with her than with losing Old Hollywood in general.

To me, old Hollywood is pretty much already gone forever.

by Anonymousreply 69October 17, 2022 2:22 AM

Terry Kilburn in Goodbye Mr. Chips single handedly sinks what otherwise would have been a wonderful movie. I think he gets the last shot as well. The finale coup de grace. What the fuck was Mayer thinking?

by Anonymousreply 70October 17, 2022 3:08 AM

Susan Kohner is alive? People were nominated from Spiderman and Independence Day? Brenda Vacarro? I though she was only famous for selling tampons! Glynis John should have won an Emmy for when was a guest villainess on Batman. Who will be on this list in 40 or 50 years? Who won't who are relatively young now?

by Anonymousreply 71October 17, 2022 3:55 AM

[quote]People were nominated from Spiderman and Independence Day?

No r71. The movie listed by the name is the one the were nominated for necessarily. It seems to be their biggest commercial film.

It's getting to where even "new Hollywood" stars of the 60s and 70s are dying off. Before we know it, we'll be looking at people like Jennifer Jason Leigh and Phoebe Cates and thinking of them the same way we thought of Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller 20 years ago.

Life sure is weird and age creeps up on everyone. You never notice it until someone says something like "can you believe such and such movie came out 20 years ago?" and your stomach does a backflip.

by Anonymousreply 90October 27, 2022 8:16 PM

"You never notice it until someone says something like "can you believe such and such movie came out 20 years ago?" and your stomach does a backflip. "

EXACTLY. Whenever I think something came out 7-8 years ago, I double it, and am usually spot on.

Just to think that Barbara Eden is NINETY years old, puts things in perspective.

by Anonymousreply 101October 29, 2022 3:10 PM

Tippy Walker has eight credits on I MDB. After the World of Henry Orient, she appeared in two other theatrical releases in 1971 The Jesus Trip and Jennifer on My Mind which was directed by Noel (Pretty Poison) Black and written by Eric (Love Story) Segal. It has similarities to Love Story including the lead characters sharing the same name.

Miss Angie Dickinson

by Anonymousreply 103October 29, 2022 3:56 PM

Angie DIckinson has really not told tales, and she's probably privy to lots of them with lots of very famous people.

by Anonymousreply 104October 30, 2022 4:04 AM

Angie came after the studio era, she was just starting out when the big stars and big contracts were over, and she was not privy to any of the big stories at Warner bros, she didn't even really met Jack Warner or any of the big names, not until much later. they interviewed her for the centenary of warner bros, and she was very sweet, but to almost all questions she had to answer that she was going from small contract to small contract and was not privy to any behind the door business. Miss Dunaway, Mr redford, Mr Beatty, and all these people aformentioned are really not "old Hollywood " at all. The last stars built by the studios were James Dean , Natalie Wood and Tab Hunter at WB, and Debbie Reynolds at MGM. Sorry.
