They’re letting Kenneth Branagh make another Poirot film

Why?

Which novel is he ruining now?

"Based on a complex, little known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences,” Branagh says

How rude! Hallow'een Party is not "little known".

Impressive cast, and hopefully they'll add more to it.

The last 2 have been nowhere near as good as the original movies but they have been fun to watch in the cinema.

Deadline's definition of "all-star" and mine vary considerably.

by Anonymousreply 4October 10, 2022 9:16 PM

Yea at least he's "adapting" one that hasn't hit the big screen before, although the Suchet version was entertainly effective.

If he insists on keeping this franchise going I would suggest a big-screen Appointment With Death, because both versions existing are awful. Or Murder In Mesopotamia.

I read all of Agatha's books and don't recall one named A Haunting in Venice.

by Anonymousreply 6October 10, 2022 9:16 PM

Actually Suchet's Cards On The Table started off really well but ruined itself with head-scratching changes. I would mind a faithful adaptation of this. However, I fear Brannah's super-stud Poirot might end up buggering Mrs Lorrimer and saving Rhoda from a deadly sharp-shooter

Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, Christie......etc ad nauseum

Is there any beginning to this man's talents?

by Anonymousreply 8October 10, 2022 9:22 PM

I wouldn't mind*

by Anonymousreply 9October 10, 2022 9:22 PM

He's so fucking basic.

Retreading the same old same old.

by Anonymousreply 10October 10, 2022 9:25 PM

[quote]OP: Why?

Because there were supposed to be three adaptations. This will be the last one.

I was greatly entertained by the first two, and am looking forward to this one.

Prepare for the CGI version of Venice all twinkling Technicolor lights and weird camera angles from and of places that don't exist.

by Anonymousreply 12October 10, 2022 9:30 PM

Venice? How derivative.

by Anonymousreply 13October 11, 2022 2:06 AM

R3, your standards are shockingly low.

by Anonymousreply 14October 11, 2022 2:08 AM

The trailer is fierce!
