My provincial limited parents have complained to me before about the diversity in their ‘shows’ such as SCD, and how they don’t want same-sex content “shoved down their throat”. As if they’re being held hostage in their chairs by Aunty Beeb, and can’t possibly switch channel or load up a stream of something else to watch, or heaven forfend listen to the radio or read a book (though anything they’d read is a trashy airport paperback or a tabloid).
