I had to put my cat down a few months ago and I was just given an 8 week old parakeet. He or she is the most animated, mischievous little creature and entertaining as hell. Absolutely clownish. It is tame and already mimicking sounds.
Any advice?

I keep getting cats and then they become obsessed with birds and I have to put them down, I'm on my 4th cat.

Sorry about your cat, OP. Enjoy your parakeet. I've known two people who had cockatiels and I was surprised at how friendly the cockatiels were.

Had a couple of budgies and parakeets growing up. They are really sweet. They poop everywhere but it's a hard poop.
They sleep at night, they lived in my room and covering up their cages at night made me sleepy as well. I love them so much. One of the best pets. They don't live very long.
