Mila Kunis’ LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD is like NYC Upper Class Perfect Life Aspirational Porn

I’m only a few minutes in, but so envious of her, especially the hot, preppy one percenter fiancé Finn Wittrock. And she’s no drab girl on the train or in the window across the street, she looks fabulous!

Lord, that actress from Cruel Summer who played the fat, ugly girl plays Mila as a fat, ugly scholarship girl at prep school. Hollywood is going to give this girl a huge complex and an eating disorder and she’ll end up like Brittany Murphy.

Kunis' face looks different in that OP photo. Is it cosmetic, or just age? Obviously the eyebrows are not as she normally wears them.

by Anonymousreply 2October 7, 2022 2:39 PM

The reason she doesn’t bathe is she is fucking hideous out of makeup.

by Anonymousreply 3October 7, 2022 3:05 PM

It’s hard to watch Mila and her affected speech, but I guess that’s like literally true to life now and how these girls like talk.

by Anonymousreply 4October 7, 2022 3:56 PM

Connie Britton plays her boozy, blousey mom and Jennifer Beaks her boss who doesn’t seem to be aging.

by Anonymousreply 5October 7, 2022 6:17 PM

She needs a lot of smoke and mirrors to look attractive. She's actually quite ordinary. If you need proof then check out that Glenn Close movie where she played a junkie. I don't feel bad pointing this out because she comes off as an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 6October 7, 2022 6:42 PM

The book was a bestseller but I thought it was trite crap. It should translate better as a film.

The Hollywood Reporter panned the movie and her performance.

by Anonymousreply 9October 7, 2022 7:26 PM

Google her without makeup. Dumpy

by Anonymousreply 10October 7, 2022 7:29 PM

It looks like trashy fun, not remotely aspirational.

by Anonymousreply 11October 7, 2022 7:32 PM

Finn Wittrock now has a little gut. I don't mind I guess. Very straight look.

by Anonymousreply 12October 7, 2022 8:21 PM

Ok I take it back at R12. He took off his shirt and he's FIT and gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 13October 7, 2022 11:30 PM

No wonder I saw this yesterday. Likely unbearable in real life, but she gives fun interview.

Mila is 39 and way too old for this part.

by Anonymousreply 15October 7, 2022 11:46 PM

Why can't lesbians post on a lesbian site? It's getting so fucking ridiculous on DL.

by Anonymousreply 16October 7, 2022 11:52 PM

Age snuck upon her quickly.

by Anonymousreply 17October 8, 2022 12:07 AM

Russian women age poorly

by Anonymousreply 18October 8, 2022 12:16 AM

[quote]and he's FIT and gorgeous.

FIT?! HAH!

by Anonymousreply 19October 8, 2022 12:30 AM

OK finished it. What a Frau slog!

by Anonymousreply 20October 8, 2022 1:36 AM

R20 I didn’t know it was going to be a “message” story based on the author’s actual experiences, I thought it was going to be more about trashy fun.

by Anonymousreply 21October 8, 2022 1:39 AM

I figured out it wasn't trashy fun when she got raped.

by Anonymousreply 22October 8, 2022 1:46 AM

I thought it has a very odd tone. Or at least it was doing work on me as a man. Because I empathized with the character but I didn't like the grown up. As a girl the character was more moving.

by Anonymousreply 23October 8, 2022 1:49 AM

It was the message - that rape turned her into a disagreeable, insincere person. It was grim. The heroic ending seemed tacked on and self-congratulatory in an icky way.

by Anonymousreply 24October 8, 2022 1:57 AM

I can never see Mila without hearing her as the Family Guy girl.

by Anonymousreply 25October 8, 2022 1:58 AM

NYT - Her performance carries the film — a fortunate break for the director Mike Barker, who has the near-impossible challenge of shepherding the tone from snark to painful sincerity.

by Anonymousreply 26October 8, 2022 2:01 AM

Just started watching, pretty good so far. Bookmarking so I can read after in case of spoilers.

by Anonymousreply 27October 8, 2022 8:23 AM

R6 I don't care for Mila or her talent free husband..but her eyes are very beautiful. R24 oh is this another " there's no other explanation for a mentally fucked up person but sex abuse" plots? If so, ick. I was drawn in by the trailer but that trope has gotten old.

by Anonymousreply 28October 8, 2022 9:20 AM

R15 That's absurd. The character is mid 30s and Kunis is 39

by Anonymousreply 29October 8, 2022 9:37 AM

I read the synopsis of the books plot and it's just....meh. Just the same cliche shit done so many times in fiction/ TV. Nothing new or interesting.

by Anonymousreply 30October 8, 2022 9:39 AM

It's stupid fun film, better than the rest of the movies released this week.

And excuse me, while I, the sexiest woman alive 2012-2013, give my handsome husband a crackling blow job and you old fat homos can just bat your eyelashes and spank your monkey alone.

by Anonymousreply 31October 8, 2022 10:04 AM

Well I typed the "Kunis is too old for the part" mid-watch before it was revealed how many years she was working in New York. I assume it was 5. The character then mentions 9. Which still puts her at early 30s. But Ok, I take back my comment. Still, if these characters are mid thirties I don't buy it really. Finn's finance character would have the first wife in mid to late 20s, latest. Minor points. Kunis looks good except in a few shots where the lighting sees through the makeup a bit.

by Anonymousreply 32October 8, 2022 10:12 AM

Do educated people still get married in their twenties?

by Anonymousreply 33October 8, 2022 11:25 AM

For those of you who see departed pets, is there any special trick to being able to communicate with them? My brother says my orange boy will come to me in my dreams when he’s ready.

by Anonymousreply 34October 8, 2022 11:56 AM

Wrong thread obviously

by Anonymousreply 35October 8, 2022 11:57 AM

According to 2021 statistics, the average age at which women get married is age 28.6 years. For men, the average age of marriage is 30.4 years.

The stats are going to be different for HS grads and College grads.

(OK I am old but I nailed the age for women)

I saw one set about "Elite College" marriage statistics but it is over 10 years old and not about the age at first marriage but about the likelihood of marriage and divorce at each of 50 elite colleges. (Lower likelihood of being married in 30s, than hoi polloi, but higher in the 50s. Lower divorce rates.)

by Anonymousreply 36October 8, 2022 12:09 PM

R1 question of taste. To me Chiara Aurelia is a pretty girl in this TV movie and not so "fat" in it, rather quite plump but (as the plots shows) rape-worthy by handsome smug prepsters.

by Anonymousreply 37October 8, 2022 12:12 PM

I think the character was supposed to be 32, Mila was a hard 32.

by Anonymousreply 38October 8, 2022 12:14 PM

I was surprised to discover Finn Wittrock is 37. I figured 30ish now, 20s in American Horror.

How did the mother end up living in such an upper-middle class home at the end? She's pictured in her huge bougie kitchen. Also I didn't believe for a SECOND a mother would say such awful things to her just raped daughter. That was some boilerplate scripting.

by Anonymousreply 40October 8, 2022 12:49 PM

r40 I thought the same thing about the kitchen of the mother. But I can believe a mother would say something like that, my mother was always the type who was more worried about what people would think and of keeping up appearances.

by Anonymousreply 41October 8, 2022 1:02 PM

I’m gonna watch it.

I like her.

And yeah. She’s an example of an average girl becoming a knockout after hair & makeup.

So what?

This is the same for 95% or more of Hollywood, and let’s not forget the plastic surgery, constant fillers and minimal procedures, to boot!

by Anonymousreply 42October 8, 2022 1:40 PM

I read the book a while ago and it was entertaining, but I barely remember it. I agree that Kunis was too old for the role. She’s pushing 40 and looks it and given that Kunis’s character was desperate to establish a veneer of respectability, she would have wanted to get married early thirties, latest.

I thought it was pretty good, but in the end I was confused and a little disturbed by the focus on the rape vs the massacre. I realize the horror of the massacre doesn’t diminish the rape, but I found it odd. Like I said, I don’t remember the book well, but I don’t think the book did this. The book was about the whole series of events and untangling what really happened. Not rape is really bad and oh, this other thing happened, too.

by Anonymousreply 43October 9, 2022 11:12 AM

She is a heavy smoker.

by Anonymousreply 44October 9, 2022 11:46 AM

[quote]I thought it was pretty good, but in the end I was confused and a little disturbed by the focus on the rape vs the massacre. I realize the horror of the massacre doesn’t diminish the rape, but I found it odd.

She stabbed her friend to death (the one who was sympathetic and trying to stand up for her, and her rape was probably partly why they staged the shooting in the first place) and that's barely a blip in her brain.

by Anonymousreply 45October 9, 2022 11:57 AM

I was kind of bummed they didn’t have this blasting through out the school during the massacre..

R46 I knew that song from Big Love on HBO

by Anonymousreply 47October 9, 2022 4:20 PM

That Chiara girl needs to mix it up with the genres of shows and movies or she’s going get typecast.

by Anonymousreply 48October 9, 2022 4:42 PM

Honestly, if I read about the author beforehand I don’t think I would have watched, she sounds exhausting.

I think a bob would suit her face better… or a hair style that isn’t so long and flat.

by Anonymousreply 50October 11, 2022 4:14 PM

R50 I think a bob would make Mila look older.

by Anonymousreply 51October 12, 2022 3:34 AM

r50 maybe her husband likes women with hair like that (Demi)

by Anonymousreply 52October 12, 2022 3:35 AM

Boy, those EE gals who were gorgeous in their 20s/30s, start to sour real quick in their 40s

by Anonymousreply 53October 12, 2022 3:38 AM

The dialogue is so coarse. Blech.

by Anonymousreply 54October 12, 2022 4:12 AM

I don’t know why I’m watching this frau show. Maybe it’s because the character is how I’ve always pictured Mila as being: tough, bitchy, sour, sexy. One might say the role was made for her?

by Anonymousreply 55October 12, 2022 11:59 PM

The nicest thing you can say about this is thank god it’s not a series and it’s over in an hour and a half.

by Anonymousreply 56October 13, 2022 12:03 AM

Saw Ashton's dick when he was a 19 year old model. Long but a bit thin. Not hard.

by Anonymousreply 57October 13, 2022 12:12 AM

Mila's voice reminds me so much of Meg from Family Guy.

by Anonymousreply 58October 13, 2022 12:17 AM

R55 that's her bread and butter.

by Anonymousreply 59October 13, 2022 12:20 AM

R57 In person or in a photo?

by Anonymousreply 60October 13, 2022 12:26 AM

r56 One of the writers on Pajiba said it should have been a series. That site is something else.

by Anonymousreply 61October 13, 2022 12:27 AM

Fuck you, R58

by Anonymousreply 62October 13, 2022 12:43 AM

r57 HOW? WHERE?

by Anonymousreply 63October 13, 2022 12:51 AM

Preppy asshole’s in a wheelchair but poor Mila-character. Boo hoo.

by Anonymousreply 64October 13, 2022 1:05 AM

…and Mila-character’s dream come true is getting published in the New York Times? Good grief.

by Anonymousreply 65October 13, 2022 1:16 AM

Just finished. That sucked.

by Anonymousreply 66October 13, 2022 1:19 AM

R65 the author of the book sounds a bit insufferable. She's a journalist herself so I guess NYT is the be all end all.

by Anonymousreply 67October 13, 2022 1:25 AM

I would have chosen Finn Wittrock's hot cock and family money.

by Anonymousreply 68October 13, 2022 1:28 AM

That food video actually made me like her. I can’t believe she domesticated Ashton Kutcher.

by Anonymousreply 72October 14, 2022 2:11 AM

R72 I don't think he’s actually been domesticated (like most actors) but it's good for his image. There's something really off about Ashton and his friendship with Danny doesn't help either.

by Anonymousreply 73October 14, 2022 2:42 AM

Mila is gorgeous to me but man she sucked in this. Very inconsistent. The younger version actress ran circles around her. She can’t pull off playing a very intelligent person.

by Anonymousreply 74October 17, 2022 6:02 AM

Mila is a terrible actress.

by Anonymousreply 75October 31, 2022 2:24 PM

R75 she's fine in comedies.

by Anonymousreply 76October 31, 2022 3:28 PM

I’ve only seen her in this, Date Night and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She’s predictable.

by Anonymousreply 77October 31, 2022 5:26 PM

[quote] Also I didn't believe for a SECOND a mother would say such awful things to her just raped daughter. That was some boilerplate scripting.

See, that seemed genuine. “After the sacrifices we have made and all your hard work, you threw your future away by sneaking out and getting drunk and putting yourself in the way of those boys” is the nice version of what I feared my own mother would have said to me if I was assaulted as a teenager.

Yes, she’s support me and help and blame the rapists, but I would be very aware that part of her instant, natural response that she would smother down would be anger at me for being a teenager pushing boundaries and not obeying her.

by Anonymousreply 78October 31, 2022 5:40 PM

I agree it felt realistic the mom would blame the daughter. Take as old as time.

by Anonymousreply 79November 1, 2022 5:51 AM

She's good, but the film was extremely forgettable.
