This movie is AWFUL. The music is forgettable and the choreography is terrible. The dancers look like rejects from Xanadu. The acting is bad, the costumes are horrendous, and yet it is so bizarre that I cannot look away from it. It belongs in the same group of musicals as Can't Stop The Music and Xanadu, except those movies at least have decent music.
I love The Apple. It is a camp classic! Of course it goes without saying that it's objectively terrible, but that's what makes it a camp classic as opposed to a classic like, say, Casablanca.
1980 was an absolutely insane year: Xanadu, Can't Stop the Music, and The Apple. Everybody in Hollywood was snorting massive amounts of coke and felt invincible.

LOVE this movie. So so bad, it's entertaining. Actually, some of the music isn't too bad but ruined by awful lyrics.

Omg i remember seeing this when it came out. What a horror but as OP says, impossible to look away. It was a Golan-Globus piece of excrement.
