Oh wow, this will be fun. I never thought to check for an archive. I was very active on there back in the day. I actually met one of my closest friends on there. I'm still in touch with one or two others, but this guy and I eventually in real life and became friends (nothing more than that, we aren't each others type) but he's a great guy.

I loved all the drama and inside gossip, especially when the pron stars themselves would post. I had a lot of dialogue with Aaron Lawrence back in the day (he was an unlikely escort and amateur content creator).

Separately I got to be a reviewer for RAD Video (remember them?). They would send me VHS tapes (and later DVDs but I am solidly Gen X) and I'd have to watch and write a review. I must have done about 50 reviews all together.

Also I can't believe the last posts are from 20 years ago!

R6 I remember Aaron Lawrence and RAD video and so much more! Do you remember that insane guy Damon Kruezer who stalked porn stars and trolled relentlessly and tried to claim he was their agent. His energy and his capacity for lightweight evil were something else. I cannot recall if he ever messed with Datalounge or if his unique flavor of malfeasance was only on ATKOL.

R8 I def remember DK! Wasn't he aka Kent Barclay? IIRC he supposedly lived in his mother's basement in Boston.

R9, I'm R6 but I remember Aaron well. He wrote a book about his escorting experiences. And he started filming amateur videos - I remember him going to Russian and filming with Alexy #1, Alexy #2, Alexy #3 etc (to be fair all studios had no imagination back then). I remember Aaron got a lot of shit for being his somewhat unconventional appearance as an escort, tho he was cute in his twinky days and as i remember he was pretty hung. I did buy his book and remember him saying he was good escort because he listened to be his clients.

I can't remember his real name (I'd only put his first name here) but I'm sure it's out there. his bf (later husband?) was an illustrator of some kind, his/their venture was called Gay Geek or something like that. I remember the husband's work appearing on that site.

R15 I remember alec_scudder, seemed like a classy gay guy, and I had a crush on a poster named Buddyboy. I went by Benji9 and then InsatiaBull.

It was always eye opening to me when a porn actor would post. Some were functionally illiterate and seemed almost mentally disabled… others seemed bright and witty and insightful. Aaron Lawrence took a lot of shit for his plain looks but there was a brain in there and he seemed like a good guy.

It was AKTOL that brought me to DL so many years ago.

I was a semi-regular on ATKOL. It was sort of a companion sister to DataLounge, but was more focused on porn than other topics.

Who remembers the evil Biggs, who wasted no opportunity to abuse anyone who didn't kiss his ass. And the horse guy 3DE (which stood for '3 day eventer'. He was a nice guy. I;m sure Biggs is long dead. He mentioned once that his doctor had told him he had about 5 years left.

I well remember how some of them set upon poor Paul Barresi when he started posting. He was used and abused, as were most of the porn stars who posted there. Few of them lasted long.

I remember Johnboy, who was also really funny and smart.

One of the oddest fights I recall in there was between porn actor Talvin Dimachio and ATkOL user J.T. It became an addictive train wreck with J.T. claiming things about Talvin when they had an escort/rentboy hire session, and Talvin firing back that J.T. had a horribly disgusting ass situation yet he demanded to be rimmed, and it just got uglier and uglier. I think J.T. threatened legal action. Then they both suddenly claimed it was all actually a case of mutual mistaken identity, so everyone please disregard the entire fight. No one quite believed that.

I also remember a really friendly, kind, enthusiastic older Black gay man of size named Don Normann or something similar. Don was one of the sweetest online gays I ever met.

Say what you will about David Forrest, but he did work like hell for his boys. He was willing to make a complete fool of himself to get work for his boys.

I want to say it was Anthony Holloway. I saw the video and remember the pisser being biracial. Holloway was nothing special.
