It looks cute? The actual title is: “SPOILER ALERT: HERO DIES AT THE END”!

I don’t want to see this depressing movie!

I actually watched the trailer and okay MAYBE I'll see this as I do love a good rom-com and I'm not a complete monster. I was on board until I saw Dan Savage (le sigh) is one of the screenwriters. I guess I have until Dec. 2 to waffle back and forth on deciding to give it a go.

Ben Aldridge has fantastic nipples. I’ll watch it just until the nipple scenes.

Yeah, it's not a romcom. (The tagline on Youtube says "They wanted a rom-com. They got a love story." Which is to say...it's not a rom com, since that's not what they got.)

It's very much a tragedy/somebody-dies type of love story.

I might catch it on tv but it’s not something I would make an effort to see in a theater.

It does look like a Hallmark movie but sometimes that’s just what I need.

I saw BROS. I think I’m good. In a genre that is very formulaic, this sounds as if it was written be a computer:

1. Oddly paired romantic leads — one hot, one not. ✅

2. One set of parents are in the dark about their son’s sexual orientation. ✅

3. The hot guy is dying. ✅t

The tired theme of a nerd bagging a hottie dominates gay fiction. But it's every gay guy's fantasy, so they'll never give it up.

OK, but what’s the name?

Trick was a dumb movie. WEHT Christian Campbell? Surely that movie didn't wreck his career?

Oh dear.

This is based on TV writer Michael Ausiello’s book about his partner who died of cancer.

I don't see why gay rom-coms have to be so different from straight rom-coms. In straight ones (movies or Hallmark / Lifetime ones) there's usually a gap when it comes to looks of the coupling).

And it's like on DL, when the couple doesn't look alike (what does the one see in the other?) or when they are pretty much one and the same (clones! They look like brothers! Yuck! They must be shallow as fuck!).

Looking forward watching Spoiler Alert. The part with Parsons' character being obsessed with the Smurfs is hilarious (that alone would've sent me running).

Looks cute and very sad. Since the leads are gay of course they'll be overlooked for Oscar noms.

I mean Our Sally IS in the movie. I might see it for her. She's playing a grumpy old Eastern Pennsylvania working class woman. The kind of role that might have gone to Tyne Daly for a CBS TV movie.

Oh, God! Is this adult Gay version of 6 Weeks, one of my favorite Christmas movies? Is he going to die on the subway after going to a Lincoln Center performance of The Nutcracker? Will there be extensive Christmas in NYC montages?

Looks ok but I watched the trailer. It basically told the entire story in 2 minutes or so--I don't feel the need to spend money to see this now.

Just realized Ben Aldridge is also playing gay as the spouse of Jonathan Groff in M. Night Shyamalan's next thriller, Knock at the Cabin. (With Dave Bautista and Rupert Grint!)

There's a lot of Just For Men in that trailer.

Aldridge was also Arsehole Guy in "Fleabag." And is openly gay.

Apparently being a gay man was a prerequisite for Phoebe Tyler Wallingford Fleabag to cast any male actors in her show.

Jim looks BOTOXED TO THE GODS. And acid washed. I like Sally Field and will watch this on my Kitchen television while I make fishstick casserole.

The movie takes place over several years, so I'm guessing the tried de-aging Jim for the early parts

YAY YAY YAY - it is nice to see a good gay movie. Thankfully, they are becoming mainstream.

I have to say I was curious enough to pick up Ausiello's memoir which the movie's based on.

Gay rom com? I read Michael's memoir years ago and it's about his husband's protracted and painful death from anal cancer. The memoir's title is 'Spoiler Alert - the Hero Dies.' If you think that's a comedy, have at it.

I’ll watch because I’ve seen almost everything Field has done. She made a straight to video movie with Judy Davis, “A Cooler Climate” that was very good. I never watched Parson’s TV show but he was good in “Boys in the Band.” Ben Aldridge is one of the handsomest men in movies right now so Plus!

It's not a rom-com. It's a tearjerker.

Their marriage lasted less than a year before the hunky died. It's really fucking sad.

It's like a gayer version of "Autumn in New York," only without that stupid life lesson to be learned by the manwhore.

If Sally can still jog all the way to Texas and back, I'm here for the whole thing.

I maintain this story is so sad that I don’t know who the audience is. The book still haunts me. MARY!!!

But I hope it does well - I like both leads a lot.

Releasing it during the holiday season only makes sense if the studio intends for it to be an awards contender, but Focus Features doesn't have it listed on their FYC site.

They look cute and have chem but I have no idea what the premise is....thats missing, and I need to know it before I go and watch.

Seems like your stereotypical generic rom com (sad emding not withstanding) but gay. For better or worse.

I dont like most straight rom coms either other than "It happened one Night" or "When Harry Met Sally" or "One fine day" ....so when there's a gay equivalent of any of those, that might perk my interesr. It doesn't look terrible though, so hopefully it doesn't do terrible.

Gay men like Parsons & the other gay rom com dude need to fall in love with guys in their own league. It would be more interesting, attractive & inspiring.

"Spoiler Alert" sounds straight out of the old "Let's be a Jennifer Aniston movie" thread.

So, it's basically Green Plaid Shirt? Two guys meet, one guy gets sick and dies. Bummer. There are a few gay themed dramas with that concept. And the Straights have tearjerkers like Love Story.
