Is Jaid still alive? She used to do Howard Sterns show a million years ago...She was clearly a fame whore even before social media.

The father is forgiven everything, the mother nothing.

Wasn't Drew's father seriously mentally ill? It's a bit easier to forgive someone who eally can't help their behavior than a greedy framework, especially if they're dead.

The dry cleaners I used to go to in LA in the 80s had bounced checks pinned to the wall by the register. One was from Jaid for $4.

OP here...as a child of the 80s, I'm just being nosey and curious as to when Drew had any contact with Jaid. And--also--how does Jaid provide for herself? The ultimate redemption interview would be Drew having Jaid on her show...she's had all her exes, and now this girl who Drew found a connection with. Just have Jaid on...I'd watch that. Dr. Phil could mediate! (Jkjk, someone more responsible and reputable...like Oprah or Gayle.) All signs point to that no one knows the full answers.

Drew said over 20 years ago that it was a very giving thing for her mother to take her out of her father’s environment and said that the parent who stays you end up hating and the one who’s not around you idolize because they’re not there to mess up. Drew’s mother really did a lot of extremely fucked up things and wasn’t equipped to have a child. Both parents were horrible. The fact that Drew is even still alive is a miracle.

Not only did Jaid Barrymore introduce her daughter to New York City’s notorious Studio 54 when she was just nine, but also made her dance with famous men — and take drugs with them.

Drew Barrymore later recalled how her mom took her on nightly outings with her adult friends for five nights a week for a year. The child star began describing herself as a “party girl” and dabbled in cocaine and alcohol in adult clubs across Hollywood.

“I had a mom, but she was more like my best friend,” said Barrymore. “She was like, ‘Do you want to go to school and get bullied all day, or do you want to go to Studio 54?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, absolutely!'”

Barrymore’s mother didn’t mind her pouring Baileys over her ice cream and the child star became a daily cocaine user at the age of 12. Then, at age 13, Barrymore tried to kill herself by slitting her wrists. In 1988, her mother had her institutionalized.

Drew posed for playboy in early 1995, he mom wanted to one up her and posed for the magazine in fall of 1995.

Years ago she tried to auction off some of Drew’s childhood memorabilia including some of her ET costumes. She pulled it when after getting some massive blowback.
