IIRC, wasn’t there a huge ordeal with her having two soundtrack singles out at the same time she had LAV singles out? Perhaps WBR didn’t give her money to make a video for Angel because she had two soundtrack singles out? I know Into the Groove did not get an official release or it would have easily been her 3rd #1. WBR was not happy about her movie singles and vice versa Geffen was adamant Crazy For You get released as a single.

R17, She filmed the Material Girl video in January 1985 and didn't go on tour until April 1985.

She would of had time to make a video for Angel. 3 months is plenty of time to film a music video.

She also should have made a video for Dress You Up.

She was prepping for her tour. Again, I think the record company didn’t give her money for the video. They were salty with Crazy For You and Into The Groove soaking up airplay. Or maybe she didn’t want to.

Crazy For You & Gambler had official videos, but they were basically her scenes from the film performing the songs intercut with other scenes.

Causing a Commotion and Hanky Panky had unofficial concert videos from the Who's That Girl and Blonde Ambition tours. I remember MTV airing them.

She should have done a video for Angel--I think the only reason was fear she was overexposed with so many songs released that year. She also didn't include the song in the Virgin Tour video, so there really nothing for that song.

Angel from the Virgin Tour is a weird broken up and shortened version. I just discovered that there’s an actual video for Burning Up! Angel really deserved a professional video, I was living in England when it was a hit and recall some mish mash vide they would show on tv.

She had 6 singles within 6 months. All were top 5 hits. 2 were #1. Into The Groove would have been a #1 had it been given an official release which Warner blocked. I am surprised they didn’t do a video for a song released from a studio album.

Why are you obsessed with Angel being a music video?

It was only a hit because Madonna was white-hot at the time of its release.

During any other time, it would have been considered album filler.

But I guess it was symbolic of that car wreck of a marriage Madge had with Guy Ritchie.

I just feel like the Like A Virgin album was deserving of having more than only 2 proper official music videos for it.

Her debut album had 4 videos, True Blue had 5, Like A Prayer had 4, and all of the other albums in her prime had more than just 2 videos also.

LAV was the album that turned her into a superstar so I think all 4 singles should have had a proper music video for them.

It would not have been impossible to make videos for Angel and Dress You Up. Music videos literally only take a day or a few days to make.

Hell, even if she only made 1 more music video for the LAV album that would have been nice. 2 videos from a successful studio album is just laziness.

So yeah, she should have made videos for both Angel and Dress You Up or at least 1 of the 2.

I also think during that era that was one of her best looks, so I feel like that look should have been preserved on video more.

I also wish she would have made a video for Holiday, her parts in both Vision Quest and Desperately Seeking Susan should have been bigger, The Virgin Tour should have been released in it's entirety, among other things...

Dress You Up was perfect as a live video.

I liked the Rebel Heart album, but hated that Madonna made videos out of two of the weakest songs on the album (Living For Love and Bitch I'm Madonna.)

I did love the video for Ghosttown, though.

Side note but I love the video for What It Feels Like for a Girl, don’t know why there’s all the hate for it. It’s so funny. And great hair / outfits.

I'm desperate to know why people think posting songs by other singers is funny.

I love the remix of What It Feels Like For A Girl but hate that it basically discards most of the singing and just repeats a few lines over and over. If there is a version that works in the missing vocals I would like to hear it. The video is pretty good but also is from the era where Madonna seemed to become dark and humorless, which I don't love about it.

Into the Groove deserved a real video, as others have said, but it was common in the 80s to just use movie clips for songs from soundtracks.

Rescue Me not having a video is strange to me, but the release of that song as a single was (if I recall correctly) mishandled, so perhaps it would have been done had the planning been better. She very well could have been lazy about it, too, since 1990 was a very packed year for her, and I think Rescue Me was an early '91 release.

Time Stood Still should have been a single and deserved a video, too. I am not a fan of her Amarican Pie. Time Stood Still is probably largely unknown outside of the core fans, unfortunately. The American Pie video is boring and I think I saw it one time and would just skip it on any Madonna video collection.
