The Hispanic Vote is Turning on Gays and Democrats and electing Hispanic ant-gay Republicans to Congress

"Stop taking our children to drag shows and start taking them to church!" - Myra Floreze US House candidate, TX-34

Hispanics are conservative

by Anonymousreply 1September 25, 2022 11:57 PM

I told you! You didn't listen!

by Anonymousreply 2September 25, 2022 11:58 PM

This is not news.

by Anonymousreply 3September 25, 2022 11:58 PM

Have they heard of the glories of double penetration and poppers?

by Anonymousreply 4September 25, 2022 11:59 PM

Hispanics are not a single-minded voting bloc. Further, Myra Floreze is a Trumper nitwit.

by Anonymousreply 5September 25, 2022 11:59 PM

Dunno about other Latinos but Tejanos have always been socially conservative. A lot seem to have abandoned the Catholic Church (which was bad enough) to join fundie protestant sects. They still vote 60% for Dems in Texas though Biden lost a lot of support. Possibly because he didn't even bother to campaign in Texas much less along the border. I do wish Biden would kick Mayorkas in the ass and get him to do more about the migrant surge. If Beto loses in November, I'll blame Biden. If Beto wins, it'll kill the GOP. Without Texas as their bulwark, the GOP is finished.

by Anonymousreply 6September 26, 2022 12:01 AM

Yes she is a Trumpeter, but there are 3 more just like that in Texas running for congress and it's a growing number, not shrinking.

by Anonymousreply 7September 26, 2022 12:01 AM

It’s the trans in women’s spaces and the queers talking about queerness to elementary school Hispanic kids that are bringing this about.

by Anonymousreply 8September 26, 2022 12:02 AM

I told you suckers. That's why I'm not so big on the let all the hardworking illegals in. It's not that I'm anti-immigration, it's that dems don't gain any political capital by having such a "let em all in. Turn the other cheek" philosophy. People vote their culture. These people will vote republican. The only people who don't vote their culture are educated white professionals and even many of them are still Magas.

by Anonymousreply 9September 26, 2022 12:03 AM

We've got the cure!

PrideX Month 2023!

by Anonymousreply 10September 26, 2022 12:03 AM

r9, bingo!

by Anonymousreply 11September 26, 2022 12:04 AM

These Hispanics are American citizens not illegals @R9. Also R6 there is no way Beto wins.

by Anonymousreply 12September 26, 2022 12:05 AM

Exactly r5. OP, you seem like such a troll trying to create divisions between entire groups of people. Down to the fact that you capitalized a bunch of your words like you were writing some attention- grabbing troll clickbait headline. Like wow you're so creative. Even though you are sharing a Twitter post of one delusional Trumper. Hyperbole much?

by Anonymousreply 13September 26, 2022 12:05 AM

I love your gown, darling, but your handbag is on fire!

by Anonymousreply 14September 26, 2022 12:07 AM

R5 True enough on both counts, but I saw today a post sent to me from a mate - there was some sort of street festival in Queens, NY and apparently drag queens were going to be a part of it, then all these Latina mothers rushed/blocked the stage preventing the queens from performing. While not wanting to paint all Hispanics with the same brush, I was surprised that happened in NYC. If I were to guess, I’d bet the ones blocking were immigrants, which in my experience tend to be more conservative, or least more concerned about family, financial security, etc. usually as a result of the life they were leaving behind.

by Anonymousreply 15September 26, 2022 12:07 AM

I like care what some right-wing piece of shit has to say about anything.

by Anonymousreply 16September 26, 2022 12:08 AM

60% of my neighbors are Latinos. ALL but two of the eighteen who I know and live around are Repigs. The two none Repigs are full on Dems but theirs families are Repigs. Why? Most are religious! THAT'S WHY!

I had one person tell me years ago, "love the sinner.....blah blah blah. " I stopped talking to her after that. At the time she was in her twenties. GROSS!

by Anonymousreply 17September 26, 2022 12:11 AM

Paola Ramos interviewed this woman (who btw got a lot of funding from Elon Musk). When Ramos asked her if she agreed that victims of rape or incest should have to carry to term the fetus, she said no - which goes counter to the current Texas law which forbids abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest from conception. When Paola said was she opposed to gay marriage, pointing out that she herself is a lesbian, Flores looked all apologetic saying she believed in 'traditional marriage' but looking very embarrassed about it, saying SCOTUS had made it legal. She also said Joe Biden was elected. So she isn't quite the extremist she may appear to be. She also said she doesn't approve of the GOP rightwing attacking the Capitol, etc.

She's totally under the sway of some Mexican-American fundie preacher who's OTT ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 18September 26, 2022 12:12 AM

The Hispanic demographic is made up of a lot of smaller demographics, just like the white demographic is. Not all whites are fundies or lefties or what have you, and the same goes for Hispanic voting demographics. Some are conservative and fundie, some groups are socially liberal.

The press -- and this specific DL troll -- keep talking only about "Hispanics" or "Latinos" as if they all voted as one, which is ridiculous, and it's only a stupid person who buys that kind of talk.

by Anonymousreply 19September 26, 2022 12:37 AM

Latinx are solidly Democrat. They are also only purple undergraduate Latinas.

by Anonymousreply 20September 26, 2022 12:42 AM

^ purple haired

by Anonymousreply 21September 26, 2022 12:43 AM

Of course they are, it just shows they're intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 22September 26, 2022 12:49 AM

Democratic coalition: African Americans, college professors, non-binaries and trans, yaaasss queens gay males, and public school teachers.

Everyone else is literally Hitler.

by Anonymousreply 23September 26, 2022 12:57 AM

No it shows they are idiots who believe in Sky Gods and Santa Clause ti guide their political beliefs.

by Anonymousreply 24September 26, 2022 12:57 AM

I am sure calling them latinx really helped the cause.

by Anonymousreply 25September 26, 2022 12:58 AM

“No it shows they are idiots who believe in Sky Gods and Santa Clause ti guide their political beliefs.”

Oh earth mother, deliver these simpletons from their religious beliefs. In Gaia’s name, Amen.

by Anonymousreply 26September 26, 2022 1:04 AM

Most of these are single-issue "pro-life" voters.

by Anonymousreply 27September 26, 2022 1:08 AM

You forgot Jews, r24.

by Anonymousreply 28September 26, 2022 1:34 AM

Er, r23

by Anonymousreply 29September 26, 2022 1:34 AM

They are very liberal when it comes to social welfare and racial discrimination. But ultra conservative when it comes to LGBTQ. Basically a very selfish group of community.

by Anonymousreply 30September 26, 2022 1:38 AM

Maybe it is time to seal that border.

by Anonymousreply 31September 26, 2022 1:42 AM

Only if you send the White Southern Evangelicals to the other side R31. So far THEY are the ones that have actual voting power who have fucked up America.

by Anonymousreply 32September 26, 2022 2:27 AM

R31 Biden administration is already sealing the boarder

by Anonymousreply 33September 26, 2022 6:36 AM

With what?. Elmer's glue?

by Anonymousreply 34September 26, 2022 6:44 AM

Let them take their vile spawn to church to get fucked by all the pedo preists.

by Anonymousreply 35September 26, 2022 6:47 AM

That puta sounds extremely estupida.

by Anonymousreply 36September 26, 2022 6:53 AM

The GOP and right wing policies are like a light which all sorts of groups find irresistible like moths to a flame. Blacks, Latinos, Gays, young people are all packing up and moving rightward. Some of us might find the theo-fascist stance over there worrisome, but many many groups embrace it with open arms. The naked grift, hateful rhetoric, hostility towards science and education, thinly veiled white supremacy, book censorship and all those things are alluring features, not bugs. And immigrants. We all hate immigrants. These groups especially would like to see them vanish and the Republicans will make that happen while the Democrats won’t. The GOP offers a lot of positives for average Americans.

by Anonymousreply 37September 26, 2022 7:11 AM

[quote] We all hate INVADERS.

The reigning "liberal" operative fiction is that people of color are, in the main, "liberal", ergo Dem supporters/voters. The reality cookie that they most certain are not is difficult to swallow.

by Anonymousreply 38September 26, 2022 7:25 AM

Fuck them and the stupid, immigrant-fetishizing Democrats. They welcome the Latinos in en masse, but these anti-feminism, anti-abortion, homophobic, anti-science, gun-crazy Latino cunts will vote Repug in the end. What's the point of being pro-immigration when most voters hate that stance, and the immigrants hate the Democrats?

Stupid, naive, and self-destructive.

by Anonymousreply 39September 26, 2022 7:27 AM

Let’s see: people from predominantly Christian (mostly catholic) countries that were ruined by socialism and dictators comes into a country where the left-wing party is portrayed as socialist. Is it surprising that a large amount end up voting conservative? Not to mention the push to alter their gendered language and the (perceived) abandonment by the Democrats since most racial politics are focused on Blacks.

by Anonymousreply 40September 26, 2022 7:27 AM

[quote] When Ramos asked her if she agreed that victims of rape or incest should have to carry to term the fetus, she said no - which goes counter to the current Texas law which forbids abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest from conception.

You’re either pro-life or you’re not. You can’t pick and choose. If you’re pro-life, you can’t make exceptions for abortions. It’s either a life or it isn’t.

by Anonymousreply 41September 26, 2022 7:29 AM

R37 Complete horseshit.Gays and Latinos are not moving rightward at all. You watch too much fucking Fucks News asshole.

by Anonymousreply 42September 26, 2022 7:43 AM

Yes, take you children to church. Your young boys and a few girls. They'll be in good, warm hands. Lots of hands. And some mouths.

by Anonymousreply 43September 26, 2022 7:51 AM

R31 why didn't Trump and the GOP "seal the border" when they controlled all branches of the government for two years? Why not do that instead of passing a giant tax cut for the wealthy, which was their only major legislation?

by Anonymousreply 44September 26, 2022 1:50 PM

if you don't think latino voters are conservative catholics, for the most part, you are stupid.

by Anonymousreply 45September 26, 2022 2:07 PM

People are moving to the right? Really? Didn't Kansas (of all places) just vote down an abortion ban? Polls are positive for Democrats in the midterms. Kansas may even oust a Republican incumbent governor.

by Anonymousreply 46September 27, 2022 2:37 AM

[quote]It’s the trans in women’s spaces and the queers talking about queerness to elementary school Hispanic kids that are bringing this about.

And calling them "LatinX".

by Anonymousreply 47September 27, 2022 4:13 AM

A goodie-two-shoes friend used to drive little old Latinas to the polls. Then she found out they voted the way the priest told them to for the anti-abortion candidates and she stopped doing it.

by Anonymousreply 48September 27, 2022 4:49 AM

They finally start voting, then they choose people who will do nothing for them.

by Anonymousreply 49September 27, 2022 4:55 AM

R49.

by Anonymousreply 50September 27, 2022 4:57 AM

This is what infuriates me about liberals. They went out of their way to deride the left, purposefully ignore a more aggressive focus on economic issues and the working class and smoothed all this over by saying people needed to vote Democrat to "protect minorities" (including our community) from the bigoted forces in the GOP. Now, the minute you see a shift to the reich from key groups like Latinos, the party will begin entertaining the pundits and paid advisors who, historically, time after after, advise candidates to abandon unpopular minority groups when it becomes too politically difficult to stand with them.

So not only has the Democratic party made income inequality worse for the working class in the form of high inflation, a lack of aggressive protection for union organizers and a lackluster legislative agenda, you're going to see them throw the very people under the bus who they promised to protect in exchange for their votes, just as you've seen them abandon women when it came to protecting their reproductive rights. Shameful shit. I hope this serves as a wakeup call that we can't trust Biden and his ilk for shit. Time for change and it's going to have to come from the people directly.

by Anonymousreply 51September 27, 2022 5:06 AM

[quote] A goodie-two-shoes friend used to drive little old Latinas to the polls. Then she found out they voted the way the priest told them to for the anti-abortion candidates and she stopped doing it.

I have a Latina lesbian friend whose grandmother was like that. She voted for anti-choice candidates because her the priest at her Catholic parish encouraged it. My friend's grandmother also cut off contact with her after she came out of the closet.

Another Latino friend grew up Evangelical, but ditched religion once he graduated from high school and moved away for college. He cut all contact with his Trumpster parents and relatives when they fell into the QAnon crap.

by Anonymousreply 52September 27, 2022 5:18 AM

They are going after the drag queens because the right wing outrage machine has found drag queens create... Outrage.

My aunt in Canada is frothing at the mouth over drag queens, despite the fact that she has never seen one in her entire life.

Facebook is one hell of a drug.

by Anonymousreply 53September 27, 2022 6:01 AM

Drag Queens performing in front of children, not Drag Queen per se, r53

But you knew that.

If the right objected to drag queens, the right would have been harping on them for decades. It's only new because drag shows for kids are new. The Democrats are insane to let things continue in that vein. It's an incredibly losing proposition. If you think the Latino population is ok with it you're drugs are better than any I've ever done - and I've done the best out there.

Here is a normal, non-pedo drag queen on whether drag is for kids or not (HINT: It's not)

by Anonymousreply 54September 27, 2022 6:10 AM

No, drag queens period, you right wing troll.

They found an nonsense issue that gets people riled up (like critical race theory), and they're continually pushing it.

But you knew that.

by Anonymousreply 55September 27, 2022 1:53 PM

It's a combination of that cultural "Machismo" thing and the religious aspect . Few people realize how fully Latinos have embraced the Evangelical movement.

On another note: In Michigan communities are busy working with local school board to ban books.... most of them coming of age books and YA books about being Gay, or Gay love stories. Gays are being targetted by the Right. There was even some ruling recently where a judge allowed a pharmacy to stop providing HIV related prescription medication.

We need to be working our asses off to make sure to #VOTEBLUE. Not just Congress, but state legislatures. It's state government that is screwing people over.

by Anonymousreply 56September 27, 2022 1:58 PM

I fail to understand the reasoning behind taking kiddies to drag queen shows. In the UK pantomime dames are essentially drag queens but they only show up in Christmas pantos and are generally played by semi-famous, very fat old comedians and are played for ridicule.

by Anonymousreply 57September 27, 2022 3:57 PM

R57, It's complicated as fuck. Everything in America is commodified. I know it's like that everywhere capitalism exists but you know us Muricans-- everything is like on steroids. It couldn't just stay in San Diego County, it had to be mainstreamed. And then leftist do gooders make it a cause célèbre. The right wing pushes back and the controversy get sensationalized on your local news. Then the academic left fights that it shouldn't really matter, which they're right. It just becomes a circus. Everything is not for everyone.

by Anonymousreply 58September 27, 2022 4:09 PM

The Catholic Church has imploded after the sex charges. Men aren’t entering the priesthood anymore (because they can’t have closeted seminary relationships and can’t sexually molest kids anymore).

Church members in Latin American countries use to attended Sunday mass and that was about it. They melded old gods into saints, like Santa Barbara and Santa Muerte. They had shrines at home and dumped a few corn kernels in front of a candle. In the 1970s RC priests and nuns were preaching liberation theology, which was aimed at helping the poor and oppressed.

Pope John Paul put an end to that at the demand of the CIA.

When latins came to America they’d automatically join the local Catholic Church, which would add at least one Spanish mass to the roster on Sunday. There were no church picnics, no-meet and-greet with the local priest. Just “go to mass and give money.”

During the time that RC has been disintegrating in US, evangelicalism is growing. They moved into Latin immigrant communities and began inviting immigrants to their churches. They introduced the immigrants to the pastor & his wife who remembered their names. There’s a playground behind the church and teen girls watch the kids while services take place. There might even be daycare associated with the church.

They have church picnics, bbqs, church buses that take them on day trips, there’s a local church fish fry. For the first time the immigrants are in an immersive, interactive religious community. They aren’t required to show up, chant, donate money and leave while the priest treats them like a nameless, obedient audience. Instead, they are recognized as people with names, children, hopes, dreams. They actually get something out of their religious experience.

Those churches are run by republicans, not democrats.

When my grandparents came to this country the first place they went was local RC church. They sent kids to RC school with RC nuns. They had a catholic identity that was verified by the large community of Catholics.

Today, the Catholic Church here has maybe one priest saying masses at 3 different churches. There are no nuns, no catholic school attached to the church anymore. There’s no community.

Republican evangelicals saw this emptiness, swooped in and replaced the RC church with evangelism. It worked. Latins are now becoming conservative Pentecostals who vote GOP. Their bosses are GOP and live in big houses with big trucks, big swimming pools. The immigrants don’t resent that. They want it for themselves.

While GOP rants and raves about illegal immigration to get white votes, they’re busy hiring illegals and converting them to Pentecostalism

by Anonymousreply 59September 27, 2022 4:52 PM

R59, wow you broke that all the way down. Great insight.

by Anonymousreply 60September 27, 2022 5:14 PM

R59 Nailed it.

by Anonymousreply 61September 27, 2022 10:28 PM

[quote] "Stop taking our children to drag shows and start taking them to church!"

No matter how inane the message, the GOP speaks it with one voice. I wish the Dems had this discipline

by Anonymousreply 62September 27, 2022 10:42 PM

Who has harmed more children? Drag queens or priests?

by Anonymousreply 63September 27, 2022 10:43 PM

What's happening now to Hispanic Catholics being converted to Evangelicals with right wing ideology is basically what happened in the US to White Catholics about 30 years ago.

There was a time before all that when the term Liberal Catholic was not a joke but an actual wing of Catholicism in the US. Sometimes called Cafeteria Catholics, pick and choose the good things they like like treat others how you want to be treated, taking care of the poor, generosity, and leaving other things behind like divorce being a major sin or skipping Sunday mass.

The Catholic Church did not like that Americans were doing and losing members so they basically gave up on America and focused on 3rd world countries to spread their religion where people are poor, uneducated and need to believe in something. Unfortunately, as R59 pointed out, they have since been exploited and converted by evangelicals over time which have very extreme views almost opposite of Catholic teachings and intertwined with Republican party and Conservative ideology.

by Anonymousreply 65September 28, 2022 9:58 AM

Poor dummy Dems. Always playing checkers while the Repubs play chess.

by Anonymousreply 66September 28, 2022 9:59 AM

More like Dems play chess by the rules as gentleman while and Repug cheat, lie, scream, yell, and distract while they try to grift from the game. Then claim they won even when they lost.

Looking at you Donald.

by Anonymousreply 67September 28, 2022 10:08 AM

lol white ppl are twice as conservative as Latino ppl why no thread on that?

by Anonymousreply 68September 28, 2022 10:32 AM

White people are not a growing or emerging group in America, that's why. It's actually dying out. Hispanics are growing by leaps and bounds especially when you consider 2 kids is NOT the norm for most Hispanic families. Go forth, be fruitful and multiply, multiply, multiply.

by Anonymousreply 69September 28, 2022 10:37 AM

But Republicans hate them

by Anonymousreply 70September 28, 2022 10:47 AM

R69 they still voted in a huge majority democrat last election so isn’t this a good thing? And at 13% or so of the population it’s so much less significant than the fact that 67% of the population (white ppl) vote majority conservative.

As another poster mentioned upthread you ppl will talk about Hispanic or Latino ppl as a block, because you don’t see them as complex ppl, yet you’d never associate yourself with being a bad group in society (white) bc of how white ppl vote, because you don’t see white ppl as a singular group, you understand their complexities, prob bc you don’t know many latino ppl.

by Anonymousreply 71September 28, 2022 11:13 AM

They are intensifying their attacks on Dems in close races. Warnock in Georgia should not be this close to Hershel Walker. Walker is crazy. Literally. Mentally ill. And he cannot put two sentences together in a coherent fashion. But the attacks on Warnock are relentless painting him as irresponsible. Lies. Complete lies.

Beto O'Rourke is Catholic - just FYI.

There has been a huge surge in Black Americans moving toward the GOP. Polls are showing that they felt like they voted for Biden based on promises that he failed to deliver. Over 55% of African Americans polled say that they do not like the direction the country is heading in.

by Anonymousreply 75September 28, 2022 12:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 77September 28, 2022 1:10 PM

Assuming your statement about Black Americans has any basis in reality R75, they should vote GOP and see how THAT works out for them. People just never learn. The dumbing down of America is working.

by Anonymousreply 78September 28, 2022 1:12 PM

There's many reasons to abandon democrats, this is just one of them.

Also, kids aren't allowed in gay bars in the first place, so I don't know what the fuck she's even talking about.

by Anonymousreply 82September 28, 2022 2:48 PM

Valerie Wilson, director of the program on race, ethnicity and the economy for the Economic Policy Institute also indicated "Employers have been adding jobs for 107 straight months." In other words, Black unemployment rate dropped because more jobs were created starting 2010. What's that you say? Obama was president from 2009 through 2017? Imagine that.

What else you say? US hiring slowed starting 4Q2019? Well, Orange Flaphead Cheetoh was president from 2017 through 2021. Imagine that.

Hispanics/Latinos, while conservative, are not expressly anti-gay. Many Latin American countries allow for same-sex marriage.

Like most people, they are largely live-and-let-live when it comes to same-sex partnership benefits.

What they are against - as is with most - is tranny and radical gender ideology, in which drag has been inextricably linked (another convo for another thread) over the past decade.

by Anonymousreply 85September 28, 2022 4:16 PM

R68 Just like there is no thread that gays vote Democratic. This thread isn’t racist, like you are implying, it is just noticing a new and important trend.

by Anonymousreply 102September 28, 2022 10:06 PM

R100, the racist part is a white woman thinking SHE knows what's in a "Hispanic's self-interest".

by Anonymousreply 103September 28, 2022 10:10 PM

Republicans become very close to Latinos right before an election

by Anonymousreply 104September 28, 2022 10:12 PM

r104 = Kelly Osbourne

by Anonymousreply 105September 28, 2022 10:26 PM

[quote]Hispanics are voting against their own self-interest if they support Repigs. They need to learn the issues. And no, the majority of Hispanics don't know the issues.

Oooooh, keep that up. Insulting and condescending to them will DEFINITELY get them on your side. They know the issues better than you do, fool.

by Anonymousreply 106September 29, 2022 12:48 AM

If Dems sweep the midterms DL will still be saying "The midterms were a disaster for a dispirited Democratic party."

by Anonymousreply 107September 29, 2022 12:54 AM

They know Democrats aren't resolving all their issues R106, but it's more than current GOP members will ever agree on.

The GOP has no plan for minorities unless they are in upper income brackets and can take advantage of their policies.

by Anonymousreply 108September 29, 2022 1:11 AM

[quote]you ppl will talk about Hispanic or Latino ppl as a block, because you don’t see them as complex ppl, yet you’d never associate yourself with being a bad group in society (white) bc of how white ppl vote, because you don’t see white ppl as a singular group, you understand their complexities,

And yet every time someone posts hate shit about Pete Buttigieg on here from Lipstick Alley, all they seem to fixate on is his skin color being white and "therefore" he's a racist because all white people are racist and black people cannot be racist ever. 🙄

Well, at least we all can agree who they are. Are Hispanics who vote Repug considered Hispanic trash? I bet not, that's the difference. That's why it's more dangerous.

[quote] The GOP has no plan for minorities

Many agree with that approach, including minorities.

by Anonymousreply 112September 29, 2022 4:18 PM

Now you're just trolling R112. You are dismissed.

by Anonymousreply 113September 29, 2022 4:19 PM

R112, That is excellent branding. Doesn't really pan out like that in the real world but excellent.

The very IDEA that opening the border would lead to a majority of Democrat voters in the USA is insane.

SUCH paternalistic assumptions made in the implementation of that policy.

Except the Democratic Party is not taking children to drag shows. Some wacko teachers did. That's not the Democratic Party.

by Anonymousreply 116October 1, 2022 8:22 AM

A friend of mine who is Mexican American once said to me, and I quote:

“I’ll never repeat this again, and if you tell anyone I said this, I’ll deny it, but Latinos can be incredibly stupid sometimes. Instead of planning for the future and looking out for their interests, they just convince themselves that they can pray and depend on family, and they stay trapped in poverty and stupidity.”

by Anonymousreply 117October 1, 2022 8:32 AM

Latinxes should vote the way we white people tell them to. We know what's best for everyone!

by Anonymousreply 118October 1, 2022 8:38 AM

[quote] LOL @ the imbeciles on the left who thought open borders would lead to the eradication of the Republican party. The joke's on you, cunts.

LOL @ R101, latino / Hispanic ppl voted 70/30 for Biden last time around, idk if you understand statistics but that’s good numbers - so if that statistic stays the same and the group gets bigger it favours……guess who. Some of you really don’t get simple statistics it’s wild 😂

by Anonymousreply 119October 1, 2022 8:42 AM

R109 spectacularly missing and also confirming my point 🫢

by Anonymousreply 120October 1, 2022 8:44 AM

[quote] why didn't Trump and the GOP "seal the border" when they controlled all branches of the government for two years?

Yeah let's pretend all those various meritless open border lawsuits to run out the clock forum shopped to Obama and Clinton judges never happened

Lumping all Latin Americans together is like lumping all Europeans together

Add in that Democrats keep telling them that they are "brown" people and "BIPOC" and that many are actually white and come from countries that are far more racist than the US, where calling someone "not white" is an insult....

And finally remmber that many Latinos, Mexicans, Cubans and Puerto Ricans in particular, may be third generations Americans at this point and "Latino" is not their primary identity anymore -- things like "suburban home owner", "mom", "accountant" or "Floridian" are likely more important.

by Anonymousreply 122October 1, 2022 10:13 AM

Which is the party of blatino husbears?

by Anonymousreply 123October 1, 2022 10:47 AM

R122 I agree with you in the main, but from personal experience most of the Latino or Hispanic ppl I know (I know a lot) use a mix of brown / POC / white / Latino / Hispanic and even (DL heads explode) Latinx to describe themselves, in a kind of light and playful way that acknowledges the multitudes of their identities, but they don’t seem to take it super seriously (the terminology) while being enthusiastic about maintaining a connection to their own culture while being from and living in the US. I go to a lot of parties where Spanish is spoken as much as English and there’s a lot of Latino / Hispanic music and food and culture discussion etc. I have a little Spanish (for work) and it really helps my language skills.

Sigh…people just need to integrate more, I know people on here love to insist that separate ethics groups just don’t want to mix with others but it’s not true, and it’s fun to be in a group that’s not just people like yourself.

Huge differences between white Miami Cubans, brown LA Mexicans and "blatino" New York Dominicanos

by Anonymousreply 129October 1, 2022 1:10 PM

So there are Cubano husbears, Mexhusbears, etc?

by Anonymousreply 130October 1, 2022 1:57 PM

R129 yes mostly Mexican-American. Still not a group that acts or thinks singularly tho. Which is the entire point, and one I’m not sure you’re entirely on board with.

by Anonymousreply 131October 1, 2022 2:18 PM

LOL

Point was thee is even more difference between various Spanish-speakers in the US and grouping them together is as absurd as grouping all European-Americans together.

And yes, not all Italian-Americans are the same, why would we think Mexican-Americans are

by Anonymousreply 132October 1, 2022 3:01 PM

[quote]The very IDEA that opening the border would lead to a majority of Democrat voters in the USA is insane.

Same with Muslims from theocratic countries: why "progressives" think people coming from a culture that is sexist, homophobic, and doesn't believe in religious pluralism will work out well in a democratic society makes no sense. Exhibit A: Europe.

That's very interesting, I live in LA and have never seen a "Blatino" in the wild. LA Mexicans are a mix of new and old generations going back to before the sate was even formed. When the lower part of CA was still Mexican territory, many of the workers where paid to stay and work the farms replacing the Native Americas used to build the churches when the Spaniards first came though the Americas.

by Anonymousreply 135October 1, 2022 8:57 PM

A “fact” in your tiny world

by Anonymousreply 138October 3, 2022 2:29 PM

Biden only got 16% of the White evangelical vote in 2020. Six points lower than Obama in 2008.

And, Biden did 11 points worse with Black evangelicals in 2020 vs Obama in 2008. That seems like a trend worth tracking.

Clinton did surprisingly well with Hispanic evangelicals.
