Just because she was born in The Ukraine, does not specifically & automatically mean that she was completely a Ukrainian ethnically speaking. The "Kazimiera Karoliszyn" portion of her full name could be of Ukrainian origin but perhaps of another eastern European background. TBH the 2 names sound and look more Polish than anything else to me. There used to be a gay porn chat message board that was attached to a big porn outlet store in New Jersey. The bitterness and pain I experienced were set aside a month or so later when I saw him again (the last time I was to see him in person) and learned he had just been released from a mental hospital—diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. From that point on it was a painful series of admissions and releases from the hospital for him, and for me a confusing and frustrating series of conversations with him where he told me he still wanted us to be partners. Finally, two days before he shot himself, after apparently escaping from the mental hospital,he telephoned me, and we talked about getting together. The day after his suicide, his mother called to tell me about the tragedy, and when the memorial service was to be. He was cremated, and his family does not plan to inter his ashes. The "life-partner" mentioned in several obituaries was not me! Rommel had told me of a former lover, and I ASSUME he had at one time told that person they were partners. I cannot be sure, of course, but I THINK that it had been over for some time, and the man mentioned in the obituaries (whom I do not know) felt he was still his partner. Rommel moved with his family from Alabama to Atlanta when he was six years old, and always lived there after that. How much his family knew about "Steve Fox" is questionable; I know they knew some, because we talked about it. WHAT they thought of it—aside from disapproving of his life style (but not disapproving of his homosexuality or bisexuality)—I do not know, and I have not pressed them to learn. They are fine people, who have suffered an intensely painful loss, and I would do nothing to sharpen their distress. As for what brought about his mental breakdown, I don’t know. Paranoid schizophrenia is one of the most terrible mental diseases known, and it IS a disease. I doubt anyone knows exactly how it is contracted. I feel steroids may have played a part in its manifestation; I don’t know that he took steroids—but his body was incredible (more awe-inspiring in person than one could even suspect from his videos, just as his beauty was even more awesome in person), and he admitted to me that he had been "on drugs," but I never learned the details. Whether his confusion of sexual orientation was contributory to his breakdown, or was instead symptomatic of it, is something else I don’t know. Sadly—so very sadly—this magnificent man is gone, and many questions will never be answered, and we will never see him on film or in magazines again. Still, he was very troubled, and he is at least at peace. I hope that clears things up, guys—sorry it has been so painfully long!
