I stopped shopping at the local Indian grocery after - apropos of nothing - the owner started ranting about how she had been downtown and it smelled like pot smoke and there were potheads everywhere, whom she went on to compare to violent criminals. I pointed out that it was legal and they were harmless and the people most likely to be buying her junk food, but she would have none of it. Dumb bitch couldn't even tell that I was high af and she's ranting that someone like me is going to kill her.

They have different social graces that's all. Maybe try to educate yourself about their culture rather than call them bad manners.

I've found them very self serving and transactional. Very untrustworthy and deceitful.

Thet are also very caste conscious and that makes them very hierarchical. Sucking up to people they consider superior to them and rude to those they consider inferior.

It's weird. I'm English and we've had a lot of them for years - they're a huge demographic and here in England they're generally very gentle and kind. Then I went to America and there they seem to be so aggressive and unfriendly. I met an Indian there who had lived in England as well and he agreed and said in America all they care about it money.

I know an Indian who tells me I must visit India. He says the government system and geographic beauty is far better than the US.

India is many small countries tribes really all pushed together into one country that represents 1.5 billion individuals. My Friends from the state of kerella and also some Sikhs that I know from a different state are extremely polite and generous. Be careful when you judge you may be harming yourself. R16, that may be because the biggest Indian ethnicity in America is Gujuratis. People with the last name "Patel" are Gujus. Gujus are stereotyped as being very direct and rude but they also don't mean it personally, that's just kind of how they are. In Canada and the UK, the largest Indian ethnicity is Punjabis.

I work in customer service - as a whole, they’re very arrogant, entitled and combative. Indian women are particularly rude. That used to make me feel ashamed and less-than.

I have a friend who works in tech. He said the Indians who are in America on work visas are some the rudest, most cutthroat people he's ever encountered. He said they'll take credit for your work and throw you under the bus if you don't push back and cover your ass. His 2 cents.

I live in a town with over 95 % whites. A few years ago I went to the movies and there was a teenaged Indian worker waiving people to her end of the counter to take food orders. As we were standing in two lines already we all looked at each other in confusion to see who she was waving at, when the customers looked at her questioningly and pointed to themselves she screamed out angrily, "YES YES YOU, that's why I'm waiving my hand!"

I lived with 6 American Sikhs in a house in a New England city. They were warm, charming, generous, good mood, and very clean and well groomed. The house was usually filthy, however.

I figured out that house cleaning was woman's work and there were no women around so nobody was much interested in doing it.

Indians are not that pro-gay^. At all.

Australian here, who lives outside a major city. Indians are buying up milk bars (aka convenience stores) and pharmacies all over my region. Which is fine except for the fact that they run these businesses into the ground. They don't replenish stock consistently, they open and close on a whim and the customer service is largely terrible. Locals stop going there, and the owners cry racism. Maybe there is an element of that, but personally I think it's more to do with the fact that the Indians who have bought up these businesses need to work on their own attitudes.

I agree with you r51. The same thing happens when they ruin convenience stores or any other business in the US.

I work in pharmacy, and there are A LOT of Indians in my field. They tend to be in two camps, and not much overlap. They can be the most generous, warm, and friendly people, or the most bitter, rude, toxic, and condescending asshole you could ever meet. The only way I have found to deal with the rude ones, is dish it right back at them, but in a very dismissive, and aloof way. Wave them off with your hand like they would a servant, speak to them as a child, but always remain cool, unbothered, and indifferent. It drives them up the wall, and eventually they stop the bad behavior.
