I want to be underwhelmed—Pumpkin Spice limited edition 2022
by Anonymous | reply 604 | November 1, 2022 12:30 AM |
I'm reply #2!
And I am underwhelmed of late by the dearth of food I care to eat in my refrigerator. Perhaps I should go to my supermarket today. Ya think?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 21, 2022 12:20 PM |
What a great post to end the last thread! Good chuckle. Now back to underwhelmed.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 21, 2022 9:37 PM |
I pre-cleaned for my cleaning lady tomorrow. Lying down now.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 21, 2022 9:38 PM |
My sister would like me to come over for some oven-baked barbecue chicken. I would rather watch paint dry. We’ll see what I end up doing for dinner this evening.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 21, 2022 10:56 PM |
Pumpkin spice overwhelms the fuck out of me. I'll sit this one out. See you in 2023.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 21, 2022 11:04 PM |
My massage cups arrived. I am planning to do my elbows and forearms later while watching TV.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 21, 2022 11:09 PM |
R7 WTF are massage cups? I'm becoming anxious trying to visualize...
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 21, 2022 11:37 PM |
They are not whelming r8. They are used for self massage and stimulate blood flow.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 21, 2022 11:45 PM |
Thanks, R9. I googled and see that they leave red marks similar to being sucked on by a leech.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 21, 2022 11:50 PM |
A good friend sent me an early Christmas present - a milk frother. It’s a sleek piece of French kitchen technology and makes lovely, frothy warm foam.

Just ate my daily Brazil nut…
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 22, 2022 12:14 AM |
R12- I had Brazil nut today too- not one but SEVERAL
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 22, 2022 12:22 AM |
Brazil nuts are radioactive. Nice knowing y'all.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 22, 2022 12:24 AM |
R14- Nonsense. They have lots of Selenium- an important nutrient.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 22, 2022 12:27 AM |
R12 Your restraint impresses me. I allow myself 8 shelled pistachios a day. I like to shell them myself to prolong the experience.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 22, 2022 12:27 AM |
Well, you shouldn’t gorge on Brazil nuts ever. They can have radiation like r14 said but selenium is important for your body.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 22, 2022 12:30 AM |
Brazil nuts in particular (in addition to being rich in 40K) may also contain significant amounts of radium, which have been measured at up to 444 Bq/kg (12 nCi/kg).[18][19]

You’re summoning the zinc advocate.
My curry dish worked, but only because I followed directions and didn’t substitute anything.
I need a thermometer gun. I never trust the done-ness of pan-fried chicken.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 22, 2022 12:42 AM |
My mother had a terrible nickname for Brazil nuts. I can't repeat it for fear of overwhelming everyone.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 22, 2022 4:12 AM |
I called a bus a dick face today. It was rush hour.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 22, 2022 4:27 AM |
I know the nickname you’re referring to, R20. Let it go, and forgive your mother, as she was from another generation.

I know it, too, R20. Nobody needs to hear that.

Since my 40s, I have become a snot-filled person.
If this were olden tymes, I wouldn’t wave a hanky to get your attention. I’d simply throw my rock hard ball of snot rag at you.
You wouldn’t be offended; I wouldn’t throw any better back then.

Fedex just delivered my Phillips Norelco Hair Trimmer from Target. Wasn't aware it came with a nose and ear trimming attachment. I won't be able to test this bonus nose trimming thingy until this evening as the unit needs to charge for eight hours.

Late last week I was on Petsmart loading my cart with insanely expensive cat food (Applaws, Reveal, ProPlan Inuba, etc.).
There was aisle after aisle chockablock displays of special pumpkin/autumn flavored animal food, treats, or meal toppers.
SMDH I thought "I wish I WOULD buy some of this pretty shit and put it on my cats's plate; they would jump my ass like a gang initiation."

Skinny Pop popcorn at Costco was never great, but now it’s inedible. I wonder what they did to it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 22, 2022 3:01 PM |
A milk frother figures largely in two episodes of Uncoupled, which some of you found deplorable.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 22, 2022 3:12 PM |
When my cat demanded lunch, I replied, “Certainly, ma’am. Would you like fries with that?” I laughed and laughed, but she just looked annoyed.

I cleaned the closet light fixture. Still unsure how two flies met their demise in there since it is completely enclosed to the human eye and a really pain to remove.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 22, 2022 6:27 PM |
Love will out r31.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 22, 2022 6:35 PM |
I decided to be open to new possibilities and to live a more carefree life, so I ordered a pumpkin cold brew at Starbucks.
It didn’t taste very good and has been in the car for at least two days.
I’m whelmed with dread of all the little flying bugs I expect to disturb when I finally go confront the issue.

R27 / R33 / R34 You're beginning to overwhelm me. There is a thread for that. I love you but please go there.

I just had breakfast. One scrambled egg with a piece of toast with butter. Now, I'm having the rest of my coffee. Just took my BP med and a daily aspirin for heart health. Both are prescribed by my doctor. Will go for a walk later this afternoon. I have missed my daily walks due to the humidity. Now I can enjoy them!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 23, 2022 2:14 PM |
I don’t remember my first post on Datalounge many years ago, but I do remember the first reply: “We discussed this before!” I was so ashamed. But it taught me the importance of good thread hygiene.

It's been very windy today in northern New England and I picked up a lot of limbs in my yard. Fiona is now barreling along at 40 MPH and set to hit Nova Scotia tonight. I'm glad that a lot of people left the island but it will be brutal for those who stay. Looks like the next hurricane has its sights set on Florida for next week.

I ran out of my beloved Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Creme creamer.
Made this DIY creamer. Equal parts half & half and sweetened condensed milk with some vanilla extract. It's good but I still prefer my Italian Sweet Creme with its garbage ingredients. Also, I see no cost savings with this DIY method.
The half & half was actually intended for use in a recipe so now I'll have to replace it along with restocking my Italian Sweet Creme. I always have sweetened condensed milk in my pantry, it comes in handy as it did today.

I have all the fixings to make banana bread. I thought it would be nice to have this afternoon while cradling a mug of hot tea. I will probably just throw away the overripe bananas. Or put them in the freezer and throw them away in the spring.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 24, 2022 2:31 PM |
My partner uses that Italian Sweet Cream stuff (I like my coffee strictly black). It must be popular because often it is the only flavor of Coffee Mate that is out of stock. They probably make a pumpkin spice of that.
I don’t think I’ve ever bought pumpkin spice anything and always think of all the waste the day after Thanksgiving when no none wants pumpkin spice anymore and the piles of product that should never been made in the first place (pumpkin spice Milk Bones, pumpkin spice Spam, etc.) goes deep discount or get thrown out.

I'm rewatching Frasier and I'm up to season eleven. I have to say I'm impressed by how strong it still was by its final season, which is a rarity. Season eleven of The Simpsons had some very funny moments (Jebus, stupid sexy Flanders, Behind the Laughter, not LENNY!) but the characterisation and plotting had largely gone to shit by then. Not only was Frasier still funny by the end, the characters felt true to season one.

Watching 'Gargoyles' on Svengoolie. I'm underwhelmed and wondering why local TV channels don't have scary movie hosts anymore...Dr. Cadaverino was one of my favorites, we also had a flabby Capt America who would host monster movies while sitting in a recliner, smoking and drinking beer. Those were the days.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 25, 2022 1:12 AM |
R36- I take Toprol and a baby aspirin every day too. But I take mine at night after dinner. They say ( doctors) that the best time of day to take those is in the evening after dinner not in the morning.

I'm making a big batch of Lentil Barley soup tomorrow. I'm soaking the Hulled Barley ( I don't make it with the Pearled barley anymore- there are more nutrients and fiber in whole grain barley) and the green lentils. It's not necessary to soak them but I've always done it anyway. The other ingredients are onions, celery, carrots, tarragon, black pepper, olive oil to cook the vegetables for 15 minutes before adding the other ingredients- and water. It's a very comforting and tasty soup. It's fairly thick- more akin to a stew.

I guess if one is going to discuss the merits of whole grain barley vs. pearled barley on DL, the underwhelmed thread is really the only logical choice.

I just removed porcupine quills from my dog's nose. Here's a tip - first cut quills in half to release the air in them and then use needle nose pliers to pull them out. Lastly, I washed her nose with soap and water. She's nine years old and this was her first encounter.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 26, 2022 2:13 PM |

My 2 home monitors connected with no problem. Well, I got the office ones to work but now the my monitors are reversed. In order to get to the left monitor with the mouse, (the monitor formerly known as number 1), I have to swipe all the way to the right on the right monitor (the monitor formerly known as number 2). I’m thinking of making an induction cooktop cozy.
The only surface big enough in this shit hole of an apartment to put the cooktop is a built-in table. A cozy would cover the glass and cushion it from my laptop, plates, cups, and cutlery. If I sewed a microfiber lining, I could also polish it.

This happened. My iPad mini is watching me.
Have a bad cold. When I first felt sick I took a home Covid test. sat on my bed with my iPad on my knee, facing me. So I swabbed inside my nose, both nostrils for at least 15 seconds. A few minutes later, while was waiting the 15 minutes for Covid test to react I opened Amazon.com to check some prices. The huge ad on the Amazon page popped up showing a person using antiseptic swabs in the nose.
Too much of a coincident, sorry.

R95, no need to be overwhelmed or even whelmed. You should be able to hit the icon at the bottom left of your screen and go to appearance or the equivalent. There should be a choice for monitor, like add a monitor or adjust a monitor. When you pull up the option on the screen, you will see your setup illustrated. You should be able to drag and drop one of the monitors to switch the order. Make sure monitor 1 is your main monitor. Save it and you should be good.

Don't get overwhelmed, but those cooling their living space with window ACs would be smart to take them out of the window now and clean them out during this cool weather.
They'll last longer if you do. Plenty of videos on YT that show you how.
Underwhelmed by doing this maintenance NOW means you won't be overwhelmed LATER scrambling to replace your window AC because you didn't take care of this maintenance.

R197, sorry I've got you so invested in my dental hygiene. Three reasons why I had no breakfast this morning:
1) I brush my teeth before eating as a way to protect my teeth from the acid in coffee and the foods I may eat. I've read a few articles on this. Brushing your teeth before eating or drinking is recommended.
2) My hygienist said that brushing before a dental appointment is not recommended as it has a tendency to irritate the gums. It's difficult for the dentist to determine if your gums are inflamed due to the brushing or another reason.
3) I wear invisible aligners overnight and didn't take them out until 8:30 this morning. Just enough time to brush and then have my coffee.
Apologies if this is not underwhelming.

A revolving thunderstorm is when you have a stalled hurricane remnant that’s trapped overhead which is stuck in a pinwheel pattern. Warm water from south making thunderstorms over ocean. The thunderstorm pinwheels onto land then pinwheels back over the ocean, then back over land again. The storm keeps replenishing itself over the warm water.
Look at a radar weather map over coastline of NJ, NY and New England and you’ll see it moving in a pinwheel.

R289 There was a shortage of distilled water last winter also. I wanted it for my humidifier and was buying it at 99c a gallon until it disappeared. The 12 gallons of distilled water I ordered from Amazon arrived on my doorstep today. The weird thing is there are no shipping labels of any kind on the boxes. Whoever is selling the water on Amazon (calling themselves ReadyRefresh) must be part of the normal distribution channel for Poland Spring since they have apparently have a network of delivery trucks ready to deliver the water. I did some digging and the seller is actually BlueTriton Brands, fka Nestle Waters North America, which is the producer and bottler of the water. They are clearly diverting product from normal channels to sell at a 300% mark-up. Doesn’t seem right.

Much like Kellogg's Fruit Loops cereal, which has individual colors but not individual flavors. Each piece tastes the same. They're non-specific "froot" flavored.

I downloaded some ancient Rick Donovan porn and quel surprise the definition quality was the best I have ever seen. I was fascinated by Rick when I was a twink the same age as Rick. Poor Rick has rubber dick in every scene, except half of one scene I had never seen before. If only caverject had been around. Can you imagine if he had been rock hard!

I still play Wordle because it generally takes only a few minutes, but someone introduced me to an unauthorized variation called Quordle, in which you use the same process but have to guess four different words. I tried it a few times, loathed it and never went back. The main reason I hated it is because some of the words in the solutions weren't common in standard English.

Another gem from William Castle, who promoted his movies with schlocky gimmicks. For "The Tingler," select movie seats were fitted with vibrators that would administer random "shocks" when the Tingler was loose. The only way to protect oneself was to scream as loudly as possible when one was under attack.

Older ones get dropped from the circulation list eventually, but running them 24/7 and starting so early means that most are shown multiple times, even old ones.

Each kept cruising me in the local cruisy woods and they seemed to know exactly what they wanted, so I said yes to the first one. We got it on about 20 times. Turned out he had a huge cock and he loved screwing around in the woods as much as I did, and he really connected with me during the act and had more joy at orgasm than most people show in such beastly settings. Couple years later in another city same M.O. - this time I didn't hesitate I immediately said yes. This one had Downs but he was cute and not that short. R548- That reminds me that I have to make dinner. I have been procrastinating. I am so tired of my own cooking, lol.

I have a fire in the fireplace.

My cats freaked out when I played a YouTube video with kittens meowing. They are looking for the trespassers right now.
by Anonymous | reply 554 | October 26, 2022 1:20 AM |
One of my cats loves those videos! The other one, not so much. She just rolls her eyes and goes back to sleep. Which reminds me, there was an earthquake today. The cats reacted similarly. Eye roller didn’t flinch, but the boy, he freaked out. He hid for awhile and then wouldn’t leave my side all afternoon.

We have a hallway off of the TV room.
Sometimes when there's no one in that part of the house, my dog will stare down the hallway very intently, as if he's watching someone.
Probably nothing, I suppose.

It finally rained here in the PNW and it’s no longer hazy/smoky. That first downpour left a film on my hair - perhaps bits of ash.

Sunny and breezy today. Will wash my sheets and hang them out to dry on my clothesline. Air dried sheets tonight!

I bought a coverlet for the bed. It's taking forever to dry.

Maybe you could ask R559 to line-dry it for you.

But still 70 degrees in NYC. It doesn’t even feel like fall yet.

"Nearing completion"? Do you have an MBA? I haven't heard that word pairing since I was a waiter +/- 40 years ago, and biz types would come into the restaurant and ask if this or that table was "nearing completion." I thought it was so cute.

An MFA.

I only have a BA. I'm underwhelming.

My local Whole Foods doesn't have self-checkout and they also don't have enough cashiers. To their credit, the cashier stands seem to be fully-manned with cashiers. However, they simply don't have enough cashier stands. The front part (where the cashier stands are) is crowded with a coffee stand and the Customer Service (Amazon returns, etc.).
The lines are long and blocking the merchandise. And it's not even their busiest time of the day.

I have a box of Levain cookies downstairs.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | October 27, 2022 5:46 AM |
You keep boxes of cookies in your underwear?
by Anonymous | reply 571 | October 27, 2022 8:00 AM |
Not all the cookies made it through the night.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | October 27, 2022 10:31 AM |
I don't have any Levain cookies. I am going to make choc chip ones today. Some will be gifts, some will be for a Halloween party.

Just found out they are opening a Lidl not far from where a work and less than a mile from a very large Shop Rite.
I attended a 2 1/2-day company conference this week. It ended at Noon today but I have MS Teams marked as busy even though I COULD be responding to emails.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | October 27, 2022 7:43 PM |
What's a Lidl? It sounds like an Austrian dance?

I think that's the dance Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer do in "The Sound of Music."

We’re keeping this underwhelming and I’m typing this quietly while I still have squirrel claw fingers. I’m taking zyban and smoking less and farting more. I’m also acting like a baby over silly shit.
In more important news, my oven-roasted vegetable and chicken soup is done in 35 minutes. I have pumpernickel.

And today is my 4th day of a new regime to keep my full head of thinning hair in my 60s. It's just a caffeine serum with some other ingredients that one massaged everyday into the scalp. Feels nice, in fact. I'll post results in 6 months. I had daily regimes, though.

The kombucha selection at a favorite eatery the other night was -- you guessed it -- Pumpkin Spice. Ugh. I really wanted kombucha so I ordered it. That's all they had. NOT terrible, but the 'spice' part literally burned my lips. The drink had the unfortunate appearance of toilet-derived sludge.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | October 29, 2022 2:49 PM |
Yes, I can certainly see why you paid good money for that r585.

It's a "regimen," R584. Since you're going through the trouble, why not try Rogaine rather than caffeine?

I could pulled over by a cop tonight. He thought I had changed lanes too aggressively and almost cut him off. I guess. Probably shouldn’t treat cops like everybody else in traffic. Anyway, he let me off with a verbal warning after checking my license. I could have used a frisk.

If there's a cop on the road, when I'm driving, I'll stay behind him. I've been pulled over enough times and it's no fun. Fuck that. I steer clear, literally.

by Anonymous | reply 596 | October 31, 2022 8:25 PM |
I gave in to the "Farewell Tour" hype and got a McRib and some chicken nuggets at McDs. The McRib was as good as always, but the nuggets were dry, overfried and the coating was very different (jusually you can easily take it off and just eat the chicken, this coating was glued on. Weird.
