I can’t imagine what this would sell for
It’s Cher’s Malibu Mansion, Tasteful Friends

It's lovely, but you can't live in this home. Half of the furniture is so old and creaky that it can't be touched or used, and the other half look as though they were built to be uncomfortable and irritating.
Every living room has unfriendly couches facing a 400-year-old chair that even a child would break if they sat on it, and a bed in it that's 200 years old. The actual beds and lounges you can use are in rooms without curtains and next to marble fixtures on the floor that have been custom made so you will bark your shins and break your toes. The few rugs she has are so thin that they might as well be paper towels. You cannot relax anywhere in this home. I do not understand this.

It's very, very tasteful. It has elements from Morocco, Bali, India, China and somehow ended up very, very beige.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 20, 2022 4:06 PM |
It looks like a 1920s place in the Hollywood Hills - not a Malibu home.
It's well done, just in the wrong area.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 20, 2022 4:08 PM |
It’s too brown for me- not enough color.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 20, 2022 4:21 PM |
I mostly like it, but why did he use the same sofa in 3 different spaces?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 20, 2022 4:48 PM |
It seems that the strongest design trend right now is to wash all color from interiors leaving everything a dusty gray
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 20, 2022 5:16 PM |
The views are magnificent.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 20, 2022 7:19 PM |
Meh.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 20, 2022 7:22 PM |
Where are the monks?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 20, 2022 7:30 PM |
It is not unpleasant in although its not a style I really like it is done well, except that it has so little colour as others have commented. With some colour and pattern it would be magnificent
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 20, 2022 10:36 PM |
This has supposedly been up for sale for a decade. At one point, Mr. & Mrs. Jay Z were supposed to have purchased it. They didn't of course. That said, gicen Georgia's age, and the fact that Georgeanne & Cher aren't getting any younger, it very well may be true this time.
She's been wonderful about sharing photos and video taken inside the compound over the years, and I absolutely love it. I look for her next home to be much smaller, with only one or two levels.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 20, 2022 10:45 PM |
My parents bought a similar sofa from K mart in the 70's - except ours was a harvest gold and maroon check. I think it's still in their basement
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 22, 2022 6:13 PM |
^ I feel quite certain that Cher bought her sofa in the 70s from Kmart right after seeing your parent's 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 22, 2022 6:18 PM |
Gorgeous and calming. Would love to be a guest. You can forget your troubles for a week or two just by being in the compound ALONE.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 22, 2022 6:23 PM |
Lot of steps for a 75-year-old.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 22, 2022 6:23 PM |
I don't like the absence of strong color. I also don't like that some stone seems to have been patina'd. Also I don't like the little wing with basic modern picture windows on the top floor - WTF is that all about? Otherwise, I like a lot of it and it also looks easy to keep clean.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 22, 2022 6:26 PM |
^ She has people to carry her
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 22, 2022 6:27 PM |
Oh, blah blah blah.
I love it exactly as it is. I don't need or like bright colors but prefer a calming environment.
It is a masterpiece that none of you critical cows could ever afford.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 22, 2022 6:27 PM |
I need to be close friends with Cher.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 22, 2022 6:29 PM |
^ I'd be happy to just be the guy who carries her up the steps
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 22, 2022 6:31 PM |
Why does everything looks so Indian?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 22, 2022 6:33 PM |
^because she's a Half-Breed!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 22, 2022 6:34 PM |
It IS tasteful for once! I love it. It's not exactly my taste, but it's nice to look at and comfortable. It doesn't look like an imitation of another culture, but it has impressions of various other cultures. I love the arched gothic windows in the kitchen. The bedroom windows remind me a bit of the one Cersei Lannister's son jumped out of, but they still look tasteful and appropriate.
Who knew one of the pop stars who has presented herself in countless tacky costumes would live in such a well-appointed home?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 22, 2022 6:38 PM |
Cher's previous decor of the Malibu house was tackier but more fun, too.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 22, 2022 6:52 PM |
It's her version of the Hearst castle, it's too busy with too much clutter I could never relax in that place.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 22, 2022 7:08 PM |

Ridiculous. It all looks solid and well-made. Perhaps a little too much white for children's hands but it is totally livable. I get calm and some nice restraint here.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 22, 2022 7:25 PM |
Cher loves that pseudo-exotic mid-eastern vibe, or her interpretation anyway
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 22, 2022 7:27 PM |
I dated the deceased interior designer for 9 of her homes, until I found out about some horrible stuff. He was much older than me. I met Cher only once. He also designed homes for Princess Diana, Johnny Carson and Tom Selleck.

R28 Well, pin a rose on your nose.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 22, 2022 7:45 PM |
I love the courtyard
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 22, 2022 7:48 PM |
R28 Tell us more about the designer and Cher!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 22, 2022 7:49 PM |
Reminds me of Doris Duke's Shangri La house in Hawaii. I don't mind dark spaces, but the whole house feels dark and you're right next to a beach.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 22, 2022 7:58 PM |
It's lovely.

by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 22, 2022 8:16 PM |
R35 Because they're cows. Chewing their cud and mooing all day, with nothing substantial to say.

Hi 👋🏻 Cher! @ r37

I love Moroccan and Balinese design and I have some accent pieces I've picked up over the years but it needs some jewel tones even if it's only throw pillows and oriental rugs.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 22, 2022 9:08 PM |
What a DUMP!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 22, 2022 9:09 PM |
When you have Cher-money why don’t you have an elevator? I’ve got an elevator in my condo and it was less than $500,000. Maybe they just didn’t show it?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 22, 2022 9:12 PM |
I much prefer Boy George’s house which is on the market. It’s gorgeous
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 22, 2022 9:14 PM |
I wish these home photoshoots would show the REAL living spaces - like where is the living room with the actual comfortable furniture and TV where people can relax and have fun?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 22, 2022 9:49 PM |
People stage their homes for these photo shoots.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 22, 2022 9:59 PM |
I’ve driven past it many times. It’s huge with no neighbors on one side. Just cliffs and ocean.

I walk to FarmersMarket in LA and when I pass CBS studios I think of being a kid and watching the Sonny and Cher show. She’s been around my whole life. She was such a mainstay of the 1979’s tabloids when they published mags like that. She’s one of a kind.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 22, 2022 10:11 PM |
Does Cher live there currently?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 22, 2022 10:28 PM |
No bookcases, no art on the walls. The home of a brainless vulgarian.

What furniture looks uncomfortable? The bed size sofas, the chaises longues? They look fit for sound sleeping to me; shuffle some cushions and sit as upright or stretch out as flat as you would like. Not everyone cheap "comfortable" furniture, chewed by dogs, scratched by cats, shaped by the fat asses of humans too large to leave their homes even for medical attention.
[quote]you can't live in this home. Half of the furniture is so old and creaky that it can't be touched or used, and the other half look as though they were built to be uncomfortable and irritating.
Where are these fragile antiques that would fall apart at a sideways glance? There aren't any. It's mostly custom made stuff, plenty sturdy I should think, and plenty easily replaced even in the unlikely event that something should break. Do you think Cher is going to lose many night sleep worrying about where the money is going to come from to replace a chair that a dog pissed on?
If you don't like her taste you don't like it. There's nothing to say that you should have the same taste, but to say it's all fragile, falling apart antiques that must be touched and the owner actually "lives" in a little kitchen and adjacent maid's sitting room upstairs is wishful thinking that rich people are just like everyone else in every way.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 22, 2022 10:39 PM |
Cher's condo at Sierra Towers in West Hollywood had a similar design influence with lots of dark wood.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 22, 2022 10:42 PM |
Idiots! Cher is a chameleon. I'm not shocked she didn't chose a strong color for her interior. Too much commitment for someone like her I'm sure so she's gone with something safe and pleasant.

Maybe not cluttered in the “too much stuff” sense, but there’s ornamentation everywhere— the carved woodwork and mirrors, the tiled floors, the gilded ceilings. That disco bathroom!
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 22, 2022 11:10 PM |
R35 Agree, it seems somewhat sparse to me
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 22, 2022 11:26 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 22, 2022 11:36 PM |
How come the black coffee tables in the bedroom and sitting area of the bedroom aren't identified?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 23, 2022 12:19 AM |
Try reading R1's comment in the voice of Cher's character in Moonstruck. Totally works. I thought it was a parody post at first.

Cher, the first half Armenian superstar before Kim K.
I'm getting a premonition something is going to happen to her soon.
