Can we do 80s, I know we need respect and decorum, but she did actually live through the 1980s, and probably had fun. Let's do 80s.
And another. I love the 80s. It's just a thing.

Is it a mood?
Is it a bop?

It's got a groove, it's got a meaning. Sorry, wrong decade. It's Cyndi!

I think I'm alone here. Here in this Chess King.

Was this 80s? Well, maybe. It seems like it should be.

And since I am the only one feeding this thread, well, obviously:

maybe 90s, but still, awesome. And it's just me, so I can set my own rules.

Iran is so far away.
But that's no excuse for those haircuts.

by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 20, 2022 5:05 AM |

A little early, but still, it totally was:

The ones at R13 and R15 are quite awful.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 20, 2022 5:30 AM |
You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) at R16 is an awesome classic.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 20, 2022 5:30 AM |
R17 was the fat queen standing in the corner watching all the young ,pretty boys dancing their asses off.

Though I was very little at the time, this embodies so much of what I love about the 1980s...musically, and otherwise. Drag, androgeny, BDSM, and being openly gay were expressions of cultural and social subversion. It was a very scary time for the gay community, but also immensely exhilarating.
Also: I have a huge crush on Holly in this video, because he's the perfect combination of buttoned-up, and filthy. It's a huge fucking turn-on.

Wait a minute. These were the late Queen’s favourite 80s songs? Picturing her grooving to “Fascinated” in the Palace is pretty hilarious.

Company B's Fascination was in heavy rotation in the Boston clubs in the 80s. Thankfully that other song wasn't. i barely recognize it.
The clubs were all about Madonna, The Cover Girls, Expose', Whitney (mainly I wanna Dance With Somebody), Company B, Nocera, Regina, Alicia, Trinere....
And this Goddess of the dance floor.

How could I forget Jody Watley, Sweet Sensation and Lisa Lisa and so many others.

I just discovered this song a few days ago. It's so catchy.

I'm so sick of 80s music. I've been listening to it for 40 fucking years! It's playing everywhere I go, I can't escape it.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 20, 2022 8:43 AM |
It’s true. A lot of it is overplayed. You mostly hear 80s or 90s music as background music in stores when grocery shopping or whatever. I don’t think the last two decades have contributed mulch that will last. Hearing the equivalent to 40 year old music like we do now in the 80s would have been 1940s music playing everywhere, which I don’t remember as being the case.
