That was the first one I didn't go see. I'd seen all of his movies through the '70s, '80s, and '90s, and liked more of them than not. But the lackluster trio of Small-Time Crooks, Curse of the Jade Scorpion, and Hollywood Ending, and the bad reviews for Anything Else, eliminated any interest. I've still never seen it.

There was a generally admiring documentary about Allen early last decade, produced by Robert Weide. In it, a producer claims that early in the 21st century, when these trifling duds were becoming the norm, he tried to talk Allen into taking more time with his projects, maybe making a movie once every three or four years instead of every year. Allen wouldn't hear of it. It was good advice.

I wish he would write more books. I bought one at an airport to read on a plane and laughed out loud kn the flight. I’d never laughed before laughed when reading.

Given that he's 86, he doesn't have much time left to keep doing anything.

I don't believe the allegations about Dylan. Mia is crazy. Pedophiles are horribly recidivist. In over 40 years no one else has come forward, even after these allegations were publicized and it was clear many were critical of him and would be supportive.

People are blurring the situation with Soon Yi and Allen allegedly molesting a seven-year old girl! Very different situations. Most men who commit adultery are not rapists, even if adultery is bad. Being attracted to a young woman -however inappropriate the particular relationship is- is not the same as being attracted to and molesting pre-pubescent child.

As for his work, I think he has not done anything really great since Crimes and Misdemeanors, which was over 30 years ago. He did some great slapstick and romantic comedies and Crimes and Misdemeanors was very good. After that nothing was really memorable or worthwhile, although some of it was passably entertaining. A remarkable career, albeit one that has gone on too long.
