Does anyone use any of the food service delivery apps? If so, which are the best? The worst? Where do you order from?
Grubhub, UberEats, etc

I've used Uber Eats a couple times. It's expensive though when you add on the delivery fee plus tipping the driver. I didn't have any issues with either order.

I think it mostly depends on your area and which restaurants are on which app. Restaurants will sometimes be on 2, but not all 3 of the major apps (DD, GH, and UE). Or they may stop taking orders at a certain point, due to focusing on in-house business. It can vary a lot. The fattest of us have all 3 major apps for maximum coverage. Interface-wise, I personally like GrubHub’s best. On DoorDash, you have to scroll through HUNDREDS of lines of algo-generated suggestions to get to full the list of restaurants. And I think DD doesn’t let you sort by distance.

I'm not in the U.S. but do use UberEats, and two others (non-U.S. services.) During the height of Covid I used them often, having previously been in the habit of eating out about 5 nights a week.
They work fine. Each has its own quirks of searchability, tipping options, complaint and cancellation policies, order progress updates, and customization (the inability to save favorite restaurants in a useful way is a pet peeve of mine, but maybe it's a local problem.) The service I prefer to use is specific in stating how much money goes directly to the delivery person, and is excellent at rectifying the rare problem, as when an order that was scheduled to arrive within 20-30 minutes of placing it is delayed for two hours+; it's the simplest to use and offers the most information, and delivery people say it is the best service from their perspective, too.
I live in the center of a city where delivery distances are quite short so that's very much in my favor; it's never more than five or ten minutes by bicycle or motorcycle from pick up at the restaurant to my door so only once did I have food arrive late and cold. Also tipping isn't a big thing here which avoids the phenomenon of deliverers jumping on an order with a big tip but not always hurrying to get it to you. Normally it works very smoothly, the delivery people are very friendly, happy for any tip in a place where tipping is not common (they get a decent hourly wage.)
In the end it comes down to which service offers what food and restaurant choices, and with which service you have the best experience. Most people have a service that's their preferred, though they will order from another for a specific restaurant. Pay attention to the charges, which each service figures in its own way; these can add up.

I use both. My nephew drives for Uber Eats and the drivers barely get anything, so I try to tip heavily. He has had people rate him down because the food didn't taste right, as if he is the one who prepared it.
I've never used Grubhub.

I've used GrubHub several times, no complaints really, other than service charges, but what're you gonna do about that?

I prefer to order things that aren't cooked, such as cold subs from Jersey Mike's. Hot food doesn't get here hot enough, as drivers often have multiple orders. I once had to wait an hour after the designated time because the driver had to drop stuff off at one of the nearby colleges.
It was a cheeseburger and fries from Five Guys, and it was ice cold by the time it got to me. I reheated as best as I could, but it was a waste. They refunded my money, but I would rather have had the food at the right time, at the right temperature.
I mostly order pizza now. It's reheatable, and I don't have to use these overpriced services.

You can get a year's free membership in GrubHub+ (free deliveries) if you're an Amazon Prime member. But their delivery fees seem pretty low anyway, so I don't know how much of a deal that would be unless you used them several times a week.

What kind of irks me about these services is that they will recommend restaurants that are like 35-40min+ away from you. If I were to pay a driver on Uber, for example, to drive me all that way and back my fees would be much much more. The few times I've used these places, the restaurants were about 1.5 miles away from me or less. I just don't drive currently due to medical reasons.
It's just not worth it to me as a customer because now I have to tip them way much more for going that far and back to get me something in addition to the services fees. It's also screwing the drivers over because I guarantee there are people out there abusing these food delivery services making them run all over town and barely tipping them, if at all.

Postmates is my favorite. They send lots of great coupons and seem to be the fastest. Grubhub’s fees are ridiculous.

I keep getting emails offering free Uber Eats offering $25 off my first order. I’m skeptical about using it, though. Seems sketchy to me.

I have a credit card (Gold Amex) that gives a $10 a month Uber and Grubhub credit each. It is use it or lose it though, and does roll over month to month.
I’ve done Uber Eats twice and Grubhub a few times for delivery, and no problems really, but as R6 said, order cold things or stuff that reheats well.
I regularly use them but do the pick up option so it is like getting a free sub/lunch (if under $10). I have noticed also that almost all food on those apps have significant price increases (in addition to the tip/service fee) compared to in store. I got a family meal at Popeye’s once, that I picked up, and it was almost $9 more using Uber eats than the store itself, so my $10 credit was pointless.

I use Grubhub pretty regularly, usually only on restaurants with low or no delivery fees. I’ve used DoorDash a few times, but they’re considerably more expensive, lots of extra fees. UberEats does have good coupons and specials that can give you $10-$15 off an order, which covers their fees, I feel like they are trying to drum up business, hence the discounts.

I’ve used Uber Eats and Door Dash. Both are good but honestly it depends on your area.

I use DoorDash and it’s great.

Yeah I'm a Uber power user, I have the Uber One pass which saves me on food delivery fees and Uber rides.
Like someone else said, if you are picky about your food being a certain temperature, or just particular about take-out in general, then don't bother. I usually don't care because I'm using it for convenience, if I have 1000 other things to do someone bringing a meal to me just saves time.
