Sounds like Judy Tenuta is gravely ill

She's been doing chemo for a while, but today on Twitter both Elayne Boosler and Merrill Markoe are sounding like these are truly Sad Last Days.

[quote]If you have any words of strength, hope, appreciation or love to send to Judy Tenuta, @JudyTenuta is the place to send them and now is the time to do it.

Oh, that’s sad. Ovarian cancer ain’t no joke.

I just read Merrill Markoe’s post. I agree this sounds like she’s not expected to live much longer.

Funny lady.

No, that’s so not fair! She’s such a sweet person!

by Anonymousreply 3September 18, 2022 2:00 PM

We are not in touch with each other, so I wouldn't know.

This twitter post of hers from mid August is so funny. God bless Judy- I have loved her since I was a little kid. I remember watching her with my Uncle (not gay) in the late 80's on Comedy Central or something and we were laughing our asses off.

Thank you, thank you For all of your love & support! The operation was smooth & filled with 4 hot anesthesiologists and thanks to them & my great surgeon, like a 1950’s housewife, I felt nothing!

She reminded me of Sam Kinison because she was brash and had similarities to him in her routines. You can see this at R2.

Back in the mid-80s, I got to pal around with Judy who was appearing at the local comedy club in my city. We went thrift store shopping and had lunch at Taco Bell. She is nothing like her on-stage persona in real life. Whenever she returned, I'd usually get front row seats. She spit her gum at me and then pulled me up on stage to be part of an audience participation skit she did.

She was my mom's favorite comedian

R8 Are they really not in touch anymore?

by Anonymousreply 11September 18, 2022 10:37 PM

She must be in hospice care or something.

She was at Ben & Jen’s wedding just a month ago.

R13 Are they really not in touch anymore?

by Anonymousreply 14September 18, 2022 10:46 PM

R12, I took that as a joke.

by Anonymousreply 15September 18, 2022 10:49 PM

R15 I agree

by Anonymousreply 16September 18, 2022 10:51 PM

R15 Hmm, you’re probably right. (It was just 5 days after her surgery, too.)

I looked up her age. She’s 65. So many comedian have died (young) recently - Louie Anderson, Norm Macdonald, Bob Saget, Gilbert Gottfried, etc.

^ They just don't know how to take care of themselves.

by Anonymousreply 19September 19, 2022 12:08 AM

Hi Pigs!

by Anonymousreply 20September 20, 2022 4:04 AM

And soon....Bye Pigs!

by Anonymousreply 21September 20, 2022 1:38 PM

Any updates?

by Anonymousreply 22September 20, 2022 8:51 PM

Lo @ R21… I was just thinking, earlier today, of that as a send-off line for her

by Anonymousreply 23September 21, 2022 5:03 AM

She's fine. She sends her love.

Her hold on live was Tenu-ous at best.

by Anonymousreply 27October 6, 2022 11:55 PM

So sad. She was an original.

by Anonymousreply 28October 6, 2022 11:57 PM

Aw man. You're right. Nobody like her

by Anonymousreply 29October 7, 2022 12:16 AM

I’m just crushed.

by Anonymousreply 30October 7, 2022 12:18 AM

She died.

by Anonymousreply 31October 7, 2022 12:20 AM

Judy was born in my hometown (Oak Park, IL), where Kathy grew up (we were in a show together, though Kathy was a few years younger than I). I wonder if they ever bonded over their shared working-class Catholic suburban origins. Same town as Dan Castellaneta (we were in Arsenic and Old Lace and, improbably, Uncle Vanya together)Tom Lennon—something about the place brought the quirky and funny out.

by Anonymousreply 32October 7, 2022 12:25 AM

R10, what was Kathy Griffin's "oh jeez" comment in response to?

by Anonymousreply 33October 7, 2022 1:42 AM

You may not possess me!
