Cary Grant Was At His Absolute Height of Perfection In North by Northwest

He was fit, lean, handsome, charming and had perfected film acting to a T. His skin was flawless, and his underplaying wry delivery of the Lehman script was flawless. It also helped that he was in great shape, physically, and his skin was faultless. Added to that was the chemistry he had with Eva Marie Saint. Just a fabulous film.

Don't forget the suit! That beautiful grey flannel suit he wore to perfection.

by Anonymousreply 1September 17, 2022 5:49 PM

He was alright but considerably aged by then so I wouldn’t call this the height of perfection.

by Anonymousreply 2September 17, 2022 5:56 PM

Don't run out of adjectives, dear.

by Anonymousreply 3September 17, 2022 6:01 PM

Don't forget his creamy skin, OP!

by Anonymousreply 4September 17, 2022 6:02 PM

Holiday was Cary at his best.

by Anonymousreply 5September 17, 2022 6:10 PM

He looked leathery in this

by Anonymousreply 6September 17, 2022 6:12 PM

Cary had only ONE FRONT TEETH. fact

by Anonymousreply 7September 17, 2022 6:14 PM

"That beautiful grey flannel suit he wore to perfection."

IIRC, he wore it to wrinkle free perfection for about 72 hours, even sleeping in it overnight.

by Anonymousreply 8September 17, 2022 6:17 PM

once you see it, you can never unsee

Of classic Hollywood, Cary Grant was the most handsome. He was positively breathtaking.

by Anonymousreply 12September 17, 2022 6:25 PM

He was very handsome, but Gary Cooper was a stunner, and Ty Power was ridiculously beautiful

I think OP’s picture was what Miss Efron was going for.

Sad!

by Anonymousreply 14September 17, 2022 6:30 PM

He didn't have any work done R14, don't you know ?

by Anonymousreply 15September 17, 2022 6:31 PM

How was his skin, OP?

by Anonymousreply 16September 17, 2022 6:33 PM

Meh

by Anonymousreply 17September 17, 2022 7:02 PM

by Anonymousreply 18September 17, 2022 7:12 PM

Was he Oil of Olay or Turtle?

by Anonymousreply 19September 17, 2022 7:17 PM

Wooden actor carved from mahogany.

by Anonymousreply 20September 17, 2022 7:26 PM

I heard he was a fag.

by Anonymousreply 21September 17, 2022 7:27 PM

did you say Mahogany ?

You said it, OP! Absolute perfection!

by Anonymousreply 23September 17, 2022 8:17 PM

Was he really white ? was Cary Grant white ? what was his ethnicity in fact ? He doesn't look white in OP

by Anonymousreply 24September 17, 2022 8:29 PM

He had a strange fixation on being part-Jewish (his father was a pants presser).

by Anonymousreply 25September 17, 2022 8:31 PM

He claimed his real mother was a Jewish woman his father worked with. He was circumcised at birth, which was rare in Britain in those days. And some say his father may have been part Jewish.

by Anonymousreply 26September 17, 2022 8:55 PM

[quote] He had a strange fixation on being part-Jewish

= he knew on wich side the toast is buttered in Hollywood, see also, Bacall Lauren

by Anonymousreply 27September 17, 2022 8:57 PM

[quote] He doesn't look white in OP

That's the power of orange tanner darling.

by Anonymousreply 28September 17, 2022 9:00 PM

Cary Grant remained physically fit and handsome for a long time, whereas his contemporaries, Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, Errol Flynn, etc., looked aged and worn by the 1950s.

by Anonymousreply 29September 17, 2022 9:33 PM

Eldergays, who here had him?

by Anonymousreply 30September 17, 2022 9:38 PM

His pins were lean..

by Anonymousreply 31September 17, 2022 9:39 PM

He looked great at any age. He clearly took care of himself.

by Anonymousreply 32September 17, 2022 9:40 PM

His roommate, Randolph Scott, was also ridiculously handsome. Together, the beauty was overpowering. He didn't age as well as Grant.

by Anonymousreply 33September 17, 2022 9:53 PM

Was Cary a bottom? Must have been since he lived with macho Scott for years.

by Anonymousreply 35September 17, 2022 10:01 PM

R35 In his autobio, Cary discusses his bottoming habits at length.

by Anonymousreply 36September 17, 2022 10:07 PM

Yes, I think Dyan Cannon mentioned it as well on the Mike Douglas Show.

by Anonymousreply 37September 17, 2022 10:12 PM

R36, that bio is so tiresome - page after page of bottoming tips (mostly muscle relaxants and margarine) and a whole fucking chapter about why reverse cowgirl (sic) is the most comfortable for the bottom and most pleasurable for the top. What editor thought it was a good idea to draw his own sex diagrams?

And Dyan Cannon still insists he wasn’t gay.

by Anonymousreply 38September 17, 2022 10:22 PM

well, it's the cary grant's equivalent of Liz taylor's cooking books I guess. They wrote about what they liked best. I found the chapters about the dildos really interesting, though.

by Anonymousreply 39September 17, 2022 10:24 PM

[quote] Dyan Cannon still insists he wasn’t gay

she didn't say he wasn't gay. She said he enjoyed anal pleasure more than most but that to her knowledge, it was something he had learned from barbara Hutton, not Randolph, and the segment about her trying to peg him with a cucumber is really funny

by Anonymousreply 40September 17, 2022 10:30 PM

He’s a Heeb?????? Damn, DL clocks errybody!

by Anonymousreply 41September 17, 2022 10:32 PM

OP, I agree he was stunning in NxNW but I disagree about the chemistry with Eva Marie Saint. That was the most soulless "seduction" sequence. Hitch had to ram home the point with a train going into a tunnel so people would understand.

by Anonymousreply 42September 17, 2022 10:33 PM

He was very moving with Debbie in AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER

by Anonymousreply 43September 17, 2022 10:35 PM

I found Cary Grant’s short book of poetry about Randolph Scott’s balls to be cloying and amateurish, especially the haikus. He must’ve hit every talk show to plug it, too. Dinah Shore’s face when he pronounced “pendulous pink orbs / swathed in a satiny blond pelt” said volumes more than any serious literature review could.

by Anonymousreply 44September 17, 2022 10:51 PM

R44 I like it " swallow thee, swallow thee, Crystal tears drown under the best velvet distinctive feel A Ghostly feel that leads into a clear diamond road"...

by Anonymousreply 45September 17, 2022 10:54 PM

"Judy, Judy, Judy..."

by Anonymousreply 46September 17, 2022 11:41 PM

Did he really say that, though?

by Anonymousreply 47September 17, 2022 11:45 PM

Cary Grant is my all-time favorite movie star. He was magic.

by Anonymousreply 50September 18, 2022 12:34 AM

R26 Can't blame him. He grew up in England, where to this day there's a fixation on Jews so different from the US.

by Anonymousreply 51September 18, 2022 2:58 AM

He reminds me of an over-tanned, greasy George Hamilton in the OP pic.

by Anonymousreply 52September 18, 2022 3:30 AM

[quote]He had a strange fixation on being part-Jewish (his father was a pants presser).
