Fans of Wendy Williams are pissed that Sherri Shephard is moving away from Wendy's unique and more audience and staff-inclusive style to a common talk show surrounding a C-list celebrity with a stagnating career. The visible absence of Wendy's staff members, Suzanne and Norman, have highlighted whispers that Sherri will fire all former Wendy staffers and replace them with "more loyal" staffers within the coming months.
Sherri Shephard debuts with backstage drama and bad reviews

Doesn’t Sherri have a problematic history of anti-gay comments? That alienates a pretty big portion of Wendy’s core audience right there. Add to that her dumping of the surrogate kid and some moms aren’t on her side either. How does she expect to build a daytime audience when she’s got those two strikes against her?

It's her show. Why would she keep Wendy's staff?

R3 "problematic history"
Are you able to search this information for yourself to verify?

R6 He seems like he'd have a nice fat dick
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 15, 2022 8:56 PM |
I like some of her acting performances (like Trial & Error), but she was way too eager to play up the stupid Christian bitch act on The View (like earth is flat, etc.).
I still don't understand what Sherri's show will be about. It would require a complete public image reboot to come even close to fit Wendy's format. Wendy was a shady bitch, that's why people watched her show. What will Sherri do to get people watching?

Her first guest was one of the Housewives.
I don't think Kelly Clarkson is losing any sleep. Or appetite.

Unfortunately Sherri just doesn’t have that “it” which is needed to be successful for a talk show. She was an adequate stand in when WW went haywire, but basing a show AROUND an empty vessel like SS is doomed to fail. Sad.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 15, 2022 9:22 PM |
Coming months? That's very, very optimistic.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 15, 2022 9:27 PM |
The network should have started this off as a brand new show, not a continuation of the old Wendy Williams show but with a new host. They should have give all the WW staffers their notice and hired a whole new staff for Shephard. They should have known there would be people on WW's staff who'd be less than thrilled about having a new boss.
This is all due to network incompetence.

It's not a network show.

Sherri's great when she's playing a part (Less Than Perfect, 30 Rock, Trial & Error, etc.) but worthless when being herself.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 15, 2022 9:57 PM |
WW is a hard act to follow. I was not a fan of her show, but occasionally I watched clips on YT. Wendy was good at what she did. She was engaging. I don't think SS should try to be Wendy 2.0 because it would never work. I think with talk shows the host has to come across as relatable in some way. I think that's what Kelly Clarkson has, a relatability factor. Megyn Kelly did not have that factor IMO.

I hate this Butterball Cunt.

She's too dumb to be a talk show host. If I was Wendy, I'd be insulted. They should've picked somebody with a bit of an edge instead of this phony, Christian, smiley meat bag.

think people don't know my heart. I think people feel I'm very judgmental. I think people feel I'm very homophobic. If they knew me, and knew my heart. ... You grow up being a Christian and you grow up believing homosexuality is a sin; you're going to hell if you're a homosexual. This is something that they teach in churches. So it's something that I grew up believing," she said.
"I might not agree with your lifestyle, but I love you. You may not agree with my lifestyle, but you love me ... I don't say it's a choice. If you tell me, 'Sherri, I was born gay.' OK. I'm not gonna argue with you, because I can't tell you how you feel and what's going on inside. I'm trying to make it into heaven by the skin of my teeth ... I don't know who I'm gonna see. So if you tell me you're born [gay], I'm not gonna argue with you. And I absolutely respect you for that. I just ask that people respect how I feel, [I] respect how you feel and we can have a great dialogue."
Over the years, Shepherd has repeatedly made headlines for her 'great dialogue', both on The View and in interviews.
Here are just a few of her most memorable moments:
2007: Shepherd stated on the show that she "didn't believe in evolution. Period." When Whoopi Goldberg jokingly asked her if she thought the world was flat, Shepherd said that she didn't know, and "never thought about it." Shepherd continued that it was more important to her that she thought about how she was "going to feed [her] child."
"You can do both," co-host Barbara Walter pointed out.
2007: During a discussion initiated by Joy Behar about Greek philosophy, Shepherd said that Christians existed in classical Greece, and that the Greeks threw them to the lions. When questioned on this point, she said that "Jesus came first" (before Greeks and Romans). When Whoopi Goldberg told her what they were discussing predated that, she said "I don't think anything predated Christians," leaving the other panellists speechless.
2008: Shepherd referred to gospel singer Shirley Caesar as "the black Patti Labelle". Her co-hosts were quick to point out that Labelle herself is indeed black.
2010: During a discussion about HIV/AIDS on the panel, Shepherd repeatedly stated that the higher prevalence of HIV in African American communities is due to women contracting the disease from black men who are 'on the down low' (secretly having sex with other men). The Centre for Disease Control later issue a statement saying Shepherd's comments are based on myths that have been widely disproved.
2012: Referring to actor Kelsey Grammer's claim he and his wife didn't have sex for a whole decade, Shepherd said, "10 years? That's 365 days times 10 - 36,000 days!" (Uh, it's actually 3650 days, Shezza).
2013: Asked her opinion of Miley Cyrus on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Shepherd said, "Oh, she's going to hell in a twerking hand basket."

Miss Shepard is able to sit upright and speak coherently, she is two for two against the previous hostess.
I watched a portion of a segment with the chef Carla Hall, the conversation was interesting and the two women made me laugh a few times.

I don't understand how Sherri is "taking over" for Wendy. It's not like The Tonight Show or the Late Show where the show remains the same and the host just changes. It's literally called the Wendy Williams Show. They tried to pull the same thing with Caroline Rhea "taking over" The Rosie O'Donnell show and it was a huge flop.
