Is it really that good?
Nothing about it interests me in the least.
Perhaps if it were titled Magic Lasso and took place on Paradise Island, I'd be more inclined to tune in.

First season yes, second one drops in quality. I think they only have one more planned.

If you haven't seen it, how would you know nothing about it interests you in the least?
Do you really need to be spoon-fed others' opinions that are meant to validate a hunch you have about a show you're too lazy to watch and formulate your own opinion of?

Jason Sudeikis
Sports
Juno Temple
Soccer
That's enough for me right there.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 13, 2022 2:13 PM |
I have no interest in soccer and I really like the show.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 13, 2022 2:17 PM |
So why even ask, R3?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 13, 2022 2:17 PM |
Overrated crap.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 13, 2022 2:36 PM |
Whatever.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 13, 2022 2:37 PM |
What are the first season was excellent, but the second season clearly did not deserve that Emmy. It's the kind of show that has a super thin premise, and they don't seem to know what to do with it.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 13, 2022 2:39 PM |
It’s insipid sentimental garbage. It’s like watching It’s a Small World (the creepy dolls at Disneyworld) as a ten episode series.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 13, 2022 2:56 PM |
It's not as bad as all that. At least not the first season. Maybe the second season is--haven't got there yet.

I loved him on "That Girl"
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 13, 2022 3:04 PM |
My main criticism of the show is that Sudeikis and Goldstein don't take their cocks out.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 13, 2022 3:06 PM |
I'm glad Sudeikis and the show won just because I hate that cunt Olivia Wilde.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 13, 2022 3:07 PM |
I think it would be considered a decent show if it wasn't so highly praised and overrated. But when it's put up against much better shows that it pales in comparison to and STILL beats them, you begin to dislike it.

I watched a couple of episodes so far. I'm late to the game. I really loved Juno Temple as a trashy WAG. It's definitely light hearted humor. Not for everyone but a nice break from some of the aggressively nasty humor in a lot of modern comedies.

When does Season Three debut?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 4, 2022 10:01 PM |
Eh, it's fine. A bit unique, but nothing special - worth a watch.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 4, 2022 10:05 PM |
I watched Ted Lasso on the recommendation of DL. It sucked so bad. I stuck with it through the first season. It's cloying, sentimental crap and Jason Sudeikis is zero percent convincing in the role. Also, I hate him in general. Another DL recommendation that sucked was Schitt's Creek. And like a fool, I stuck with that for an entire season as well.
Prior to those two duds, I loved DL recommendations-- The Windsors series and the Ustinov Poirot movies were great! If you like crap-- and you might-- then you'd probably like Ted Lasso.

Fuck

It's worth it to watch for Brett Goldstein alone.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 4, 2022 10:40 PM |
It’s a lovely show for people who aren’t completely dead inside.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 4, 2022 10:41 PM |
What is worth watching on AppleTV? I just got notice of a pending rate increase; I only subscribed to see "Ted Lasso," hence my asking when does it return.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 4, 2022 10:55 PM |
For one thing, it’s not a comedy. Not a damned funny scene in the entire series. As others have said, it’s cloying, over sentimental and overrated.
Watch Severance instead.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 4, 2022 11:07 PM |
I cannot get interested enough in it to even watch one episode even though I like Jason and I’ve subscribed to Apple+ from its beginning.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 4, 2022 11:11 PM |
First season was kind of cute. Second season flopped.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 4, 2022 11:21 PM |
I’m pissed Brett Goldstein won the best supporting actor Emmy this year over NoHo Hank or Henry Winkler in Barry. They were excellent, but what did Goldstein do other than scowl and swear? Not much.
I’m glad this show will only be three seasons.

[quote] What is worth watching on AppleTV?
I have watched the following shows on AppleTV because my boyfriend wanted to watch them.
Severance: Slow but it kept my attention.
For All Mankind: An interesting science fiction "alternate reality" series about the space program. Interesting because a lot of the main characters are women. It becomes bit soap opera-ish as it goes on.
MythicQuest: It's Silicon Valley without the edge.
I wouldn't have watched any of them on my own, but I didn't hate them.

Converse to R4, I have a strong interest in football (esp English) and really hate this show.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 5, 2022 3:12 AM |
I watched it during a free trial of AppleTv & compare it to a less funny Schitt’s Creek—and that’s saying a LOT.
I might have giggled once or twice but that’s it. Juno & Brett are the standouts for me. I don’t get the acclaim for Jason & Hannah at all.

The Christmas episode jumped the shark. I almost died of a diabetic coma.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 5, 2022 5:25 AM |
It's really really good. The second season was more somber but so well written.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 5, 2022 5:29 AM |
I love Brett Goldstein, so I enjoyed his bits. He has a fantastic podcast too.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 5, 2022 5:50 AM |
I only watched it because of the hype and a free month of Apple TV. If you like and follow football (soccer), there are a few good bits (Juno's WAG, her hot chavvy boyfriend), but it's mostly painful (wildly unrealistic scenarios and a lot of boring exposition to explain football stuff to non-football people).
Any other good bits were overwhelmed by the sentimentality and PC writing (the women are both girl bosses and great friends and support each other!)
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 5, 2022 6:12 AM |
Apple TV needs new programming leadership because I have not made it through an entire season of any of their shitty originals. For All Mankind seemed like it might be a winner for a hot minute. Then they did some time jump and the show became pure shit. Their shows all look very expensive but that doesn’t cut it
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 5, 2022 6:27 AM |
I watched Ted Lasso because I got three months of Apple TV thanks to getting a new iPhone.
I'm not especially a Jason Sudekis fan. Definitely not a soccer fan. But I did live in Britain for a year so enjoy seeing some familiar landmarks in the backgrounds.
I like this show a lot. First season was excellent. Second season slightly less excellent but still very good. I think the writing is clever and the plots are fun. Love the Roy Kent character. Enjoyed the Sassy and Nora characters. Rebecca was more interesting when she was secretly working to destroy the club, but I still enjoy her too.

TL has very obvious expy characters from the real actual Premier League, but they’re rendered in a way that’s so one-dimensional and twee and cleaned up for Americans. It might as well be ROY OF THE ROVERS or RENFORD REJECTS.
Imagine writing actual Roy Keane with as little substance and darkness and moral ambiguity as they have with Roy Kent. Or Jamie Tartt and Jack Grealish. Waste of a golden opportunity. It’s just poor from the writers.
