A (now-former) friend posted several photos to Instagram on the day of his father's funeral. The caption read something like "I said goodbye to a great man today...", so I was expecting to see photos of his father over the years, of the two of them together, etc. Nope. Every photo was a selfie. Him posing in his suit, vamping in front of a mirror, sitting in his car with what I guess was supposed to be a "sad" expression on his face.

This wasn't that surprising, given that he was self-absorbed anyway. What was shocking was the hundred of likes his photos received and all the comments about how good HE looked. His father's death was just another instrument used to soak up as much attention and validation as possible.

When my grandma died I was glad. She was. No good. My mom tried to force me and I told her to relax. The fucking bitch is finally out of our lives and there ain’t no way in hell am I gonna go to her funeral and fake being sad.
