he hasn't directed a film since 2013, and the last screenplay he gets credit for is 2018.
He looks like he's on the FBI's most wanted list

Best guess: fanboat accident or a gator-wrassle gone wrong.
There are only so many stories a man can tell about the Florida Panhandle that don't involve tube tops, jet skis, trailer parks, and infections caused by jacuzzi water!

I've wondered the same thing and hope there's nothing wrong with him (like dementia). Last time I checked his blog everything was either by his social media team or Maggie Renzi.

He's probably getting hired to doctor scripts here and there, no credit on the films themselves. It's what a lot of "former" writers do.

More important to the dl crowd-
Is he doable?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 12, 2022 7:10 PM |
I'd do him.

A thousand years ago he lived with actor acquaintances in Hoboken NJ.
He was VERY doable then, though I never did him. (I'm not sure he was ever aware of me in the room.)

He is still is writing books: 5th novel, novel "Yellow Earth," was published in 2020, and his 6th is scheduled for publication in February.

He's on IG. It seems to be something of joint social media thing, since Maggie posts too. He travels, does lectures, plays scrabble. He had breakthrough case of COVID in October 2021. He hasn't posted there for about seven months, though.
This throwback photo Sayles posted in early 2021 to say that "Honeydripper" is available on Amazon Prime might interest some.

I would have done his early-mid '80s incarnation hard. He was a sexy daddy.

Very handsome dude, but I never liked his movies.

Good writer, great director. Passion Fish is almost perfect. I love his scripts for classics The Howling and :Piranha.

Crossover bump from the Pamela Sue Martin in the Lady in Red 1979 thread and hopefully a bump for John Sayles.
Man did I love Passion Fish and Lone Star and the Roan Innish (sp?) films. I've never seen Return of Secaucus Seven (wasn't that the smaller, indie film similar to The Big Chill?).
Sayles' work as a novelist sounds very big, it's over 700 pages - ugh.
Also, how does a poster get labeled a "troll"? What did the OP here do?

I loved Passion Fish, Lone Star, Matewan, and Eight Men Out.
