Will you be buying? This has slightly more appeal than that Finally Enough Love turkey, but then we've all finally had enough of Madonna.
Madonna releases originally shelved Erotica picture disc

What is that, a Gordita?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 12, 2022 3:56 PM |
Is it going to have all the unreleased stuff and demos remastered? That would be perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 12, 2022 3:58 PM |
Erotica is a solid album. I hate Fever, will always skip In This Life (sorry dead AIDS friend) but the rest of the tracks flow nicely.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 12, 2022 4:04 PM |
It's the picture disc for the Erotica single rather than album. Edits and instrumentals across three tracks.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 12, 2022 4:14 PM |
Erotica is one of my faves by Madge and is totally spoiled by Fever. An utterly pointless cover that didn't even deserve to be a b-side. And then she released the fucking thing as a single.

Erotica had the last Madonna music that actually interested me. It's unreal to be reminded its 30 years ago and she is still plugging away.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 12, 2022 4:19 PM |
Plugging being the key word R6. Back in the 90s, she was a force to be reckoned with and involved herself in some interesting, albeit not great projects (namely in film). But there was an energy to her then and she was a total boss.
Like she's a total wannabe and desperado.

Erotica and Bedtime Stories were so good and that stripped down R&B, drum and bass and house sound fit her vocals. I don't get the hype around Ray of Light. Though I like Frozen.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 12, 2022 4:36 PM |
The fans don't seem to be biting, judging by these comments.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 14, 2022 5:56 PM |
I will never be able to look a Gordita in the again.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 14, 2022 6:02 PM |
Is that the one where Sean Penn is hitting her in the face?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 14, 2022 6:05 PM |
I love this album. Fir the most part. The book was trash though

in the *eye*

Erotica is arguably Madonna's riskiest album, in the sense that not only did she venture into territory she hadn't explored before, but she also did things that weren't necessarily commercial (acid jazz, pure techno, hardcore house music). She also abandoned her bubblegum side completely and approached music in a purely adult manner; while there had been safe, catchy and inoffensive songs like Cherish, Dear Jessie, Keep It Together and True Blue in her previous albums, this was more mature sounding... Of course, the problem is that the fun part of Madonna disappeared and as she grew older, she abandoned it completely and became a humourless, self-important attention-seeking machine, who was desperate to be seen as profound and socially relevant.
In my opinion, Erotica is the culmination of her most richly creative period, which encompasses True Blue, Like a Prayer and Erotica itself. The bad songs are atrocious (White Heat, the horrid Prince perpetration Love Song, Justify My Love, Bye Bye Baby and Erotica itself), but the good ones are immortal classics: Deeper and Deeper, I'll Remember, Bad Girl, Rain, Vogue, Like a Prayer, Express Yourself, Papa Don't Preach, Live To Tell and La Isla Bonita, are simply spectacular.
It's a pity that Madonna has never been able to recapture that magic, even if her subsequent albums have some very pretty songs. Still, it's undeniable that there was a time when she produced some excellent pop music, even if her voice has always been rather weak.

Erotica was such a solid album but unfortunately the controversy over the Sex book overshadowed it. Bad Girl remains the best video she's ever done.
It was also very risky and like nothing else going on in pop music at the time.

I just looked to see where Madonna's new greatest hits CD is on Billboard.
Apparently, it fell off the 200 instantly.
Her career is so dead. It's shocking.
I liked Erotica, too. And, yes, Fever, is worthless. But she was getting so much bad press then for being "too sexualized" after the book. And this played right into that prudish scolding.

What is she sucking on? I can’t tell

[quote}Her career is so dead. It's shocking.
Her career isn’t dead and her sales aren’t shocking.
She’s coming up for her 40th anniversary of Holiday.
In the age of streaming it’s what you’d expect for an artist in her 60s.

What am I looking at? Madge stuffing her face with a Subway sandwich? No wonder she has gotten fat.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 14, 2022 7:20 PM |
R19 I think she's sucking Naomi Campbell's big toe.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 14, 2022 7:23 PM |
The picture disc is for the Erotica SINGLE, not the album
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 14, 2022 7:24 PM |
I love this album but it’s not erotic lol. When she dom Shrieks “erotica ….ROMANCE!”
Nothing erotic or romantic about it but I love the melodies and camp value of it
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 14, 2022 7:34 PM |
She’s eating a gyro.

Erotica...Vivian Vance

I can remember all the outrage and hysteria over Erotica and the Sex book like it was yesterday. It seems so quaint now, in this era of hardcore porn anyone can look at on the internet and mainstream celebrities who are basically whores.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 14, 2022 8:23 PM |
I just want her fucking 80s single mixes presented together, and that includes the remixes used for the True Blue era singles outside North America.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 14, 2022 8:24 PM |
A mainstream, critically acclaimed and award-winning show like Euphoria is more graphic than anything that was in Madonna's Sex book.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 14, 2022 8:24 PM |
I haven't seen a well lit rimming scene in EUPHORIA.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 14, 2022 8:25 PM |
They had one on Girls.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 14, 2022 8:26 PM |
R27 Euphoria has bestiality and talk of fucking young boys? Euphoria is preschool compared to Salo or Brown Bunny or any French movie.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 14, 2022 10:07 PM |
Madonna is a whore who made good music. Now she's a whore who makes shitty music.

[Erotica...Vivian Vance]
I will never year this song again and not hear that lyric in my head. This is hysterical R24.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 14, 2022 10:34 PM |
r30 the point is that outrage over the Sex book 30 years ago is quaint compared to how sexually explicit our pop culture is now.
