It's terrible to say (because it happens ALL the time), but her career suffered after she came out as dating Swizz Beatz.
Compare her album sales of her 2007 release versus 2009. Some real damage there.....

I love her but she made two songs that I dont EVER need to hear again, "Girl on Fire" and "No One". Gurl she should've set those two songs on fire, and left them in a dumpster!

To me Alicia Keys had a nice lil run. About a solid decade of multi platinum album sales, hit songs, Grammy accolades. Album sales just started declining like crazy and Alicia Keys was never a single type artist though she would always have 1 cut from the album that was a huge pop single. I will never forgive she and the Queen for not releasing this video.

She's talented.
But she never had that crossover, four-quadrant, enduring appeal like Rihanna, Adele of Taylor had and still have. She also wasn't as innately fascinating as Bey or Gaga.
She's right where she belongs: Very successful. But second or third tier for sure.
