Democrats: This is how you deal with Republican lies

Al Franklin was brilliant. He confronted the lie with each word stated.

The Repig guest was left speechless.

She was playing by CNN's new rules. Al was playing by Franken rules, game, match.

[quote]Al Franklin was brilliant.

Apparently you're not.

by Anonymousreply 2September 11, 2022 2:32 PM

We need Al back in the Senate!

by Anonymousreply 3September 11, 2022 2:32 PM

Gillibrand pissed me off too when she chased Al out of congress.

by Anonymousreply 4September 11, 2022 2:39 PM

God, Republicans hate facts, because that's what will destroy them šŸ˜‚

by Anonymousreply 5September 11, 2022 2:40 PM

All Democrats should take a lesson from Al Franken and Pete Buttigieg. You don't play by the Republicans' talking points; you cut through the crap and confront them with the facts.

by Anonymousreply 6September 11, 2022 2:41 PM

Confrontation should be the only way with these nihilists.

by Anonymousreply 7September 11, 2022 2:59 PM

Come back Al!

by Anonymousreply 8September 11, 2022 3:06 PM

Flustered...ahmna...ahmana...ahmana...

by Anonymousreply 9September 11, 2022 3:07 PM

lol^

by Anonymousreply 10September 11, 2022 3:09 PM

Actually, she wasn’t lying. McConnell did say that when the other party controls the Senate, a vacancy is not filled in the last year of a President’s term. That’s how he explained rushing Barrett through. It’s debatable whether or not he was correct since there are only a few instances of a Justice dying in the last year of a term.

The Supreme Court is illegitimate. Kavanaugh lied egregiously during his confirmation hearings. Democrats need to pound this message home repeatedly.

by Anonymousreply 12September 11, 2022 3:13 PM

Can he please run for POTUS?

by Anonymousreply 13September 11, 2022 3:16 PM

The democrats refused to fight McConnell. They couldn't be bothered to even have any type of supreme court strategy, while the republicans have had a supreme court strategy for over 40 years.

The democrats sat back and watched the repugs chip away, night and day at Roe.

And the democrats even knew the repugs were going to overturn Roe for almost a year and couldn't be bothered to codify the right to birth control. They only did it AFTER Roe was overturned. Women just weren't that important to the democrats

Thankfully they're at least trying to codify gay marriage.

In retrospect, WE should have protested Merrick Garland not being confirmed. We should have shown up and protested Mitch McConnell's home and the Capital and we shouldn't have gone home until it was resolved.

by Anonymousreply 15September 11, 2022 3:51 PM

Al Franklin was brilliant. The blonde Repig was caught bullshitting and lying. Franken wasn't having it.

by Anonymousreply 16September 11, 2022 8:08 PM

R11 Yes, she lied. She said it was ā€œhistorical precedentā€ and Al asked for an example from the past. She couldn’t give one because there weren’t any. Mitch just made up a new rule.

Talk about foreshadowing Republicans. ACT IV of " Macbeth":

MALCOLM But I have none: the king-becoming graces,

As justice, verity, temperance, stableness,

Bounty, perseverance, mercy, lowliness,

Devotion, patience, courage, fortitude,

I have no relish of them, but abound

In the division of each several crime,

Acting it many ways. Nay, had I power, I should

Pour the sweet milk of concord into hell,

Uproar the universal peace, confound

All unity on earth.

But I get to say whatever I want because I am a pundit on the TEEVEE. But but BOTHSIDES!

"Excuse me token-talking-points-both-sides Republican, but could you possibly spread your ass cheeks a bit further open, as we don't seem to be able to get our tongues quite as far enough up in there as we'd like. Thanks."
