Brits Angry About Milk Bottle Lids
King Charles better get on this stat! He needs to send Camilla on a “Calm the nation” tour. And Kate needs to be sent on a “Milk Bottle Label Reading Comprehension” tour.
This stuff never happened when Elizabeth reigned.
[quote] Supermarket shoppers have shared their confusion after coloured milk tops were swapped for clear lids. Taking to Twitter, one Waitrose customer said: "As if we haven’t got enough to worry about right now with energy costs/rising inflation, @waitrose decides to make all milk tops the SAME causing CHAOS when selecting correct bottle from fridge. WHAT FRESH HELL IS THIS?! #crucialissues."

The label isn't enough, they need a special lid to double check? They're slowly turning into gringos, SAD!

This sounds like one of those short filler things they used to put in the New Yorker, that were titled, "There'll Always Be An England".

Wow! Brits are so stupid that they don’t realize they can find the milk they want by looking at the label. Imagine losing your sanity over a clear cap.

Is that a huge walk-in cooler, or is that milk not being refrigerated?

r4 Its a chilled aisle. There's a thing behind the shelves that blows cold air.

I bought some red top earlier and it came with a red top.

Dear stupid American morons….
The tweet was joking. You can tell by the hashtag. You see, we are capable of self-deprecating humour, not something you narcissistic, arrogant cunts can possibly begin to understand.
Go shove another cheeseburger and $5 shake in your fat gobs and keep your racist opinions to yourselves.

The reason for the change is that they can recycle the clear tops.
In the past, they had to throw away all tops because you couldn’t put a red top on a green bottle.
With clear tops, they can hire Beryl and Vi to run a dishcloth over the used tops, slap them on a new bottle and Bob’s your uncle!

R7 Since there were only 6 posts and half of them weren't even insulting...what's your problem? Did an American break your heart, or something?

That doesn't seem very energy efficient.

R10, that’s Aldi’s. You don’t catch upscale markets doing that.

R10 That's what they do in my supermarket (in the US). You've never seen this used anywhere? R11 It doesn't have anything to do with it being "upscale" or not.

The Aldis in the US have closed glass-door refrigerators in the dairy section.

r12 That's hardly the same thing.

The milk and the entire dairy department is kept quite cold, I can assure those of you who worry about such things for the rest of us.

r10 It isn't. I worked at Morrisons in uni and when the store closed to save energy and money we had to pull blackout blinds down over all the cold sections which took half about an hour every night.

Hey morons, milk isn’t originally cold.

🍼 Those ungrateful bastards don't know how lucky the are to be able to simply walk into a store, and buy their milk right from the shelf.

This is how you end up with Brexit.

Didn’t the Brits used to be big on non-refrigerated milk like Parmalat and powdered milk? Don’t they brag how it got them through the war years? What happened?
And frankly, looking at some of those fatty Brits, it wouldn’t do them much harm if they reached for whole milk and got skim milk instead.

Oat milk is coming! Oat milk is coming!
An old stoner in a hoodie will ring you up, but shouldn’t you purchase bagged milk like folks in Canadia?

Where I live the markets have people dressed in ice cube costumes running about the reefer aisles shouting “BRRR!!! BRRR!!!” This seems to fool the cold food, which remains quite chilled as a result.

R16 I never worked at Morrison's or heard of it but it would be stupid to let milk, yogurt, and cream get warm and have people return it for being sour all the time. The place I shop refrigerates the milk all night, someone I know who worked there overnight said he was freezing all the time.

You'll have to forgive r8. His monarch died, and so he's a little raw and emotional just now.

It’s the same reason Sprite recently went to clear plastic bottles instead of green plastic bottles.

It's silly when people claim one (actually sarcastic) reaction is indicative off all Brits. I'm all for the clear lids if it helps with recycling. We all need to do more, but the companies need to work hardest at being more eco-friendly, as some of the packaging is ridiculous. This is a little step in the right direction.
