It's probably a security cam left on so the owner can watch/check in with his pets whenever he wants. I have friends who do this. If it were fake, the camera would have caught better angles, including the end where things escalated.

I'm assuming the cat was highly territorial and felt their space was being invaded. I wonder if the cats knew this guy before he came to cat-sit for his friend. I've done this for friends (dogs and cats), but I would always be sure that the animal knew me and felt comfortable with me. The cats were likely stressed because the owner was missing. And a little bit psycho-kitty.

Cats (some) are assholes. The guy was trying to do something good, i.e., set up the cat litter boxes. This is why people hate cats.

My sister's cat scratched me in the eye when I cat-sat.

I also dog-sat (two dogs) for a neighbor. I took them out daily to poop. (They were house dogs.) One of them refused to poop when I took them outside. My neighbor told me that when they returned home from their trip, that dog had shit on the bed. (It was angry at them for leaving, I guess.)

Poor guy, that scream says it all. Little fur covered razor blades. No way that's staged, you can't get a cat to cooperate with a setup like that. Maybe if he had some catnip in his underwear but even that wouldn't guarantee that perfect bullseye attack.

Some cats do have a thing about turning your back on them--it's a very dangerous thing to do around big cats because they kill most of their prey by ambush and biting them at the back of the neck.

Cats are technically predators. Yes, even your beloved, cuddly, housecat. If you ever watch them with small game they've hunted and caught like rodents, you'll notice they're, by accounts, little psychopaths the way they toy with them.
