Condemning white supremacy, while simultaneously churning out violent black supremacy narratives, is surely the ultimate hypocrisy.
Is Hollywood stoking the fires of racial discontent?

Isn't Viola a little long in the tooth to be playing a warrior princess?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 10, 2022 11:22 AM |
Viola’s next flop

Yes, the Woke Left go on and on about eradicating white supremacy... but they want to replace it with black supremacy. It has become so obvious, including to many moderates.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 10, 2022 11:30 AM |
At least they made something original instead of making more white characters black.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 10, 2022 11:30 AM |
Oh, bless your heart.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 10, 2022 11:31 AM |
I do worry about the effect of these amping up vulnerable and discontented young black youth. They need positive reinforcement with thoughtful intelligent narratives: not this Blaxploitation crap.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 10, 2022 11:32 AM |
Of course she’ll cry racism and sexism when this inevitably flops.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 10, 2022 11:36 AM |
She already played a woman king and it didn’t work out so well.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 10, 2022 11:38 AM |
Why not Kween?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 10, 2022 11:40 AM |
There’s a difference between showing black supremacy and black accomplishments but OP knows that. The movie is based on a historical figure and it’s a riveting story. The issue is Viola isn’t the right person to portray Agojie. I wish she would go away.
We’re not used to seeing the accomplishments/heroism of non-White/non-whitewashed figures and OP is upset. Pour yourself a drink and relax.
I am always surprised at gay men (that are minorities) screeching and dying to be members of the oppressed straight, White Christian male brigade. It needs to be studied.

Thanks for that explanation, R10! We can now feel so much more comfortable about Triumph Of The Will, given it's merely "showing supremacy and accomplishments". Phew!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 10, 2022 11:56 AM |
Violent supremacy narratives? Time for a history lesson.

R6 "Yes, I decided to join a gang after Viola Davis's sublime performance in "The Woman King" converted me to black supremacy. If only I'd been able to consume a more intelligent narrative" -Troubled Black Youth
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 10, 2022 12:05 PM |
I think “Troubled Black Youth” is a white gay male “progressive”, 58.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 10, 2022 12:06 PM |
There's nothing inherently wrong about exploring a powerful warrior within an African society. I do dislike that they misrepresent a real tribe in order to create a more sympathetic/palatable narrative to modern eyes. If they had balls, they would explore the truth of a complex slave holding society without pretending it was something else, like some have done with Greece or Rome.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 10, 2022 12:08 PM |
The rich white liberals are treating blacks like kids with special needs, so condescending
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 10, 2022 12:09 PM |
R10 It’s because some white gay men can be the Uncle Toms of the gay community.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 10, 2022 12:10 PM |
But, still woke Hollywood has no more openly gay stars than Putin' s government has gay officials

R17 Hi obese repig.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 10, 2022 12:12 PM |
R16 Well that’s the problem!
White people have a problem with depictions of black history that doesn’t have to do with blacks being tortured or saved by white people.
Then they say they don’t want black people being shown or depicted at all in white history because we apparently weren’t there according to them.
It shows the delusions of racism. They complain about trans being delusional but behave the same way.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 10, 2022 12:15 PM |
R20 Haha, you wokes are the most stupid assholes. You are fighting against people who discriminate against others for skin color and than you despise people because of body shape.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 10, 2022 12:17 PM |
Do trans womyn appear in this womyn-warrior movie?
Do they?!
THERE lieth the question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Racism is both the worst thing in the world but also totally acceptable when it comes to white people people.

by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 10, 2022 12:32 PM |
R16 And then it would be a good film. VD can pretend she is the black M all she wants (and also pretend that she hates the comparison) but M would actually like a script that allowed her to play a complex character and one who isn’t all good. M likes to get ugly and thorny, V, not so much.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 10, 2022 12:42 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 10, 2022 1:01 PM |
A glossy movie where black characters train to slaughter whites. Imagine Hollywood turning out something in reverse, NOW in the present. An eye for an eye doesn’t help anyone.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 10, 2022 1:01 PM |
And presumably, R30, you're the moron who spatters "Klan Granny" all over threads instead of intelligent debate.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 10, 2022 1:03 PM |
The woke are fighting a war against some idea of all whites personified as a 1940s Alabama sheriff, but they’re actually fighting and taking down the only people who they actually get positive attention from… woke whites. The racists that still exist don’t give a fuck what they say.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 10, 2022 1:04 PM |
They are glorifying the Dahomey Empire responsible for the worst slave trade in Africa and fervent practitioner of human sacrifices...
I think this movie will make everyone rage and it won't have the effect they expect it will have.
Hey but at least they aren't replacing white characters with black ones.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 10, 2022 1:05 PM |
R32 The repig OP thinks it’s intelligent.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 10, 2022 1:06 PM |
Yes, Africans enslaved and murdered each other for eons before whitey ever came around. That’s never discussed, because it doesn’t further the agenda of the ruling class to eventually create a full-on race war.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 10, 2022 1:08 PM |
Are we going to see big musclebound beautiful black male warriors in loincloths is all I need to know!...
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 10, 2022 1:09 PM |
Since people who have not seen the movie yet insist on talking out of their asses:
“The Woman King doesn’t flesh out the origin story, but it does acknowledge and attempt to tackle the kingdom’s participation in enslaving other Africans.”
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 10, 2022 1:12 PM |
You clearly don't comprehend R35 that making endless ad hominem attacks, instead of reasoned debate, not only makes the person doing them look inadequate and immature, but also, very very boring. It's like scrawling a wall with a narcissitic graffiti tag. Fascinating to you. Fuck all tedious to everyone else.

Hopefully big musclebound beautiful black male warriors with VAGINAS!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 10, 2022 1:16 PM |
R31 It’s what happened. Tribes had to train to kill whites from enslaving them.
Whites killing black people is always depicted in movies because it happened.
I don’t see your point at all. You’re saying white colonizers being slaughtered is the same as whites murdering black people in Africa and the US.
See how your rationalizing doesn’t add up.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 10, 2022 7:08 PM |
R36 It’s ALWAYS addressed and everyone knows about it because god knows white people love to bring it up.
White people also ignore the concept that whites always have been fighting each other and pretend they were harmonious while Africans battled over territories. They also ignore that Africans didn’t realize what was going to happen with racism.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 10, 2022 7:10 PM |
Whites love slave torture porn or black torture porn, it’s the only black related movies they’ll reward at the Oscars.

The crazy thing is that this film will probably whitewash (pun intended) the fact that the Dahomey kingdom was an essential part of the transatlantic slave trade, upon which the vast majority of its revenue depended. When the great European powers started abolishing slavery, the Dahomey élites were furious at the loss of a very profitable business, and tried everything in their power in order to maintain the lucrative venture that had made them so wealthy.
In fact, this situation was also reflected in many other places throughout Western Africa, where the main economic drivers for millennia had been agricultural products, slaves and precious metals. Incidentally, slaves had been responsible for agricultural exploitation and mining but, when the Portuguese and then, the Spanish, French, British, Belgian and Dutch arrived looking to set up a global operation, these kingdoms happily got rid of them (as well as many members of their own working classes) in exchange for advanced weaponry, jewellery and advanced techniques for resource extraction.
Curiously enough, after 1952, when slavery was officially abolished in the British empire, the Dahomey kingdom saw a reversal of its fortunes and it went from being a major player in the slave trade, to being controlled by the British, who wanted to tap into the palm oil market (Dahomey's second source of revenue). Obviously, what happened doesn't exonerate any of the great European powers from the horrors of the slave trade, but we ought to remember that without the enthusiastic participation of African élites, who greatly benefited from it, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as lucrative and widespread as it became between the 16th and 19th Centuries.
Also, we ought to remember that the Arab and Northern African traders maintained the slave-trading routes active between Western African and Asia, while Europe abandoned the slave-driven economic model and adopted feudalism during the Middle Ages. In short, nobody is innocent in this entire disaster, except the poor people who were sold by their masters - and no, black people were not the only ones: the first slaves to arrive in North America were all poor white people from all over Northern Europe, whose descendants still live in Appallachia.
As for Viola Davis and that insane cow Maria Bello, their shameless whitewashing of history and incessant victimism are exhausting.
