Is Big Brother Scripted?
Just came across this:
“ Yup. That's what casual viewers don't understand at all: We are watching a scripted show. This is not reality TV ... in fact, several years ago, CBS changed the official legal classification from a 'game show' to 'entertainment programming' to avoid lawsuits. Production manipulates everything & literally tells the houseguests what to say, when to say and how to say it. Not all the time, but very often and always when an important subject is on the table. Probably 75% of the diary room excerpts we see are scripted. Competitions are rigged in the hopes Alison Grodner & Production get their chosen winners. Zach Rance (BB 16) had a lengthy YouTube (i believe) video about it a few years ago. I think he even alluded to the fact that the show made him remove it. He talked about where players are positioned in competitions & how they can visibly see clues or things that enable them to win.”

It’s pretty obvious the diary room is often scripted.

If it’s scripted, do they actually have them reading off a teleprompter or basically tell them what type of things to say or do?

OP. Hope you're sitting down but the WWF wrestling matches are for the most part scripted as well...

I don’t think it’s entirely scripted. I do think the producers intervene in game play to keep up the drama. I don’t think they fix competitions. Contestants would talk about that.
