Everyone I’ve ever met that drops “asinine” in regular conversation is usually an idiot with a holier-than-thou complex.

Are you going to make that joke every day during September, R1? I saw that you made it yesterday too.

"Irregardless"

by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 2, 2022 12:48 PM |
“Utilize” is perfect for this question because it’s an unnecessary word. It can always be replaced with the simpler and less fussy “use.”

What a faggy word, R4
You said that at a bottomless mimosa brunch and flitted your wrist didn’t you?

@r8, I know, we were going to name our hit album, "Jesus Utilize Me", but Gary talked us out of it...

Use and utilize are not interchangeable. I’ve known many dopey corporate drone types who incorrectly use “utilize” in an attempt to sound more intelligent or educated.
The same is true for misusing reflexive pronouns. If someone says “talk to myself or David after the meeting,” they’ve lost all credibility.
I can’t respect someone who hasn’t mastered the elementary grammar lessons of their native language.

Every single fucking word out of this asshole's mouth 😠
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 2, 2022 1:13 PM |
"Utilize" means to use effectively.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 2, 2022 1:15 PM |
^ incorrect. There is one somewhat-archaic purpose for “utilize” as distinct from “use,” but that is not it. Instead, this needless word is usually used by people who exemplify OP’s point.

R17, from Oxford languages:
Utilize: make practical and effective use of.
"Vitamin C helps your body utilize the iron present in your diet."
You can use something effectively of course - but you can also use the same thing ineffectively or suggest a use where the outcome is, as of yet, unknown.
