See You Next Tuesday, January 19: The Ginni Thomas Story

Who should play America’s most hateful treasonous booze bag frau in the inevitable biopic?

Oprah knows how to play her.

I think of Ginni Thomas every time I see that commercial for bulging eyes.

Mary Jo Catlett

Ann Taylor doesn't make clothes in the fat sizes, FYI.

Only Divine but she's no longer available....

Back off bitches, this one’s mine. DON! FIND DENZEL’S NUMBER FOR ME!!

by Anonymousreply 6September 1, 2022 5:14 PM

Whoopi Goldberg with a do-rag and braids and a highly satirical edge

by Anonymousreply 7September 1, 2022 5:15 PM

Kathy Bates. She's a bit older than Ginni, but Ginni's not exactly a youthful 65. Plus, Bates plays evil quite convincingly.

by Anonymousreply 8September 1, 2022 5:23 PM

My choice is Bridgit Everett, the fat lady who was the star of the relatively recent HBO series "Somebody Somewhere."

by Anonymousreply 9September 1, 2022 5:50 PM

She looks like Nancy Parsons ("Porky's"), also deceased. I'll go for Kathy Kinney ("The Drew Carey Show").

It's me, bitches.

[quote]A jug of Stoli in a size 20 Ann Taylor jacket and wig.

I *hate* when they hire some skinny bitch to play a real-life fat person in a biopic.

The (recently) late Pat Carroll had the girth and bulldozer-like grace of Ginni.

After seeing The Leftovers or whatever it was called, Ann Dowd was so implacably…not just evil but smugly evil, I wanted to punch her face. I’ve never had such a strong reaction to a television character. It was scary.

by Anonymousreply 18September 20, 2022 7:35 PM

Jean Smart sans makeup.

by Anonymousreply 19September 20, 2022 7:40 PM

Ann Dowd is the best of these options, but there are others who could do a dramatic turn as Ginni. Done right, it could be definite Oscar bait. Done badly, it could be another "Cybill as Martha" debacle.

- Penelope Ann Miller (in age/fat makeup)

- Jane Curtin (only at her current age)

- Laura Linney (Oscar bait, but only if she plays her as a cunt)

- Kim Basinger (fat suit and keep her off her meds for accuracy)

- Robin Wright (she can do simmering arch, but can she do shouting arch, too?)

- Cybill Shepherd is probably too twangy or recognizable to disappear into it. She always plays herself, anyway.
