Elder Memory: George Michael Sang "Careless Whisper" at Woodstock

I am old now, so old.

But in 1969, I was young! I skinny dipped and rolled joints in mud after the rain.

Woodstock is a memory that will stay with me forever. I saw George Michael at Woodstock in 1969.. He was on stage, singing "Careless Whisper."

He sang "I Want Your Sex" right after "Careless Whisper.." songs that wouldn't appear on the radio until decades later. No amount of drugs will ever take that memory away. Not even the LSD I dropped could steal that moment from my mind.

Elder Sage, it's amazing what you've been through tell us more?

Memory is fragile, fickle and prone to error.

That's why I always insist on documentary evidence in my courtroom.

by Anonymousreply 2August 31, 2022 12:46 AM

Dont think so , he would have been maybe 10 years old.

Oh, man. I'm right there with you, OP. My favorite Woodstock memory--and I'll treasure it forever--was Janice Joplin doing "Vogue".

Sheena Easton sang Sugar Walls at Woodstock

by Anonymousreply 5August 31, 2022 12:59 AM

Nice try- he was not at Woodstock troll.

I also served in Vietnam. One of the members of my squad was Andrew Ridgley. We did acid and he shot my toe off so I could go home early.

R3 - more like 6 years old.

by Anonymousreply 8August 31, 2022 1:11 AM

Silly R4. Janice sang "Vogue" at the Monterey Pop Festival. Her reprisal of "Like a Virgin" is what brought the house down at Woodstock.

My favorite band there was the Eagles. Can someone find my walker? Isn't it time to go lunch?

I was in Vietnam too R7. My unit was the Wildcats. We specialized in hacky sack and lawn darts. Oh, the fun we had. Perhaps we met at one of Sargent Pepper’s mixers??

You rude little bastards. The legendary Larry King starts a thread on DL and none of you pay him the proper respect.

Tell us Larry, while George was playing with Woodstock, who was with Snoopy?

I remember when Billie Eilish and Jimi Hendrix jammed together. Legendary set.

by Anonymousreply 12August 31, 2022 3:58 AM

I'll never forget when Carly Rae Jepson did "Call Me Maybe" around 3AM one night. My acid was just kicking in, a truly magical experience.

I loved Grace Slick and Jefferson Crosstownexpressbus. Their song, "Hit Me Baby (While I Build This White Rabbit on Rock and Roll One More Time)" was always a sellout, though; even at Woodstock.

GODDAMMIT her name is JANIS JOPLIN. Not Janice! Christ try reading something, anything.

I HATED it when Prince tossed aside his acoustic guitar at the Newport Jazz Festival and started playing that electronic crap. Later I got into it, though.

I thought it was a nice gesture that Princess Diana was there on stage to welcome everyone and sing the Star Spangled Banner before the opening act. I remember that fondly.

Really nice to have such trans Atlantic cooperation between the two nations for Woodstock.

I. . .loved. . .Liza! With her glittering, sequined Halston, she brought glamor to Woodstock. Her Gershwin medley just brought the crowd to its feet. And she bought all my cocaine!
