Well? Just a few months ago we had multiple posters swearing up and down that Rogan wasn't a conservative.
Why isn't this getting attention on DL today?

Do any Democrats actually listen to him?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 30, 2022 6:28 PM |
Joe went full on right wing a few years ago. That's when I stopped listening. Even as it was, I was never a big fan. Caught his show every now and then,
I did used to like the fact that he had such a wide array of guests, from all walks of life, and he remained relatively neutral.
I assume now that's all stopped.

Ugh. More tribal shit. I vote for the candidate, not the party now. I've been thinking about changing my party affiliation from Democrat to independent but I like voting in primaries.
I'm in an area where a lot of local races only have one party fielding a candidate. It's like elections in China.

What does that have to do with Joe Rogan?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 30, 2022 6:49 PM |
OP, what's the point? His listeners are hypocritical shitheads and all Republicans ever do is prove their glaring hypocrisy on every God damned thing-
-Scream about "socialism," yet most of the top 15 states dependent on handouts are red states
-Scream about abortion, yet how many fucking Republicans have already been caught to have gotten multiple abortions for mistresses
-Scream about being silenced and censorship, yet they're the ones banning books, they're the ones who reject their own RW platforms to stay on "liberal" twitter.
-Scream about the Covid vaccine being about "Big Pharma" making $, but do take Ivermectin because that was apparently made by elves in a mystical forest with unicorn's piss and fairy dust.
-Scream about the sanctity of marriage, yet they're all having affairs and have multiple marriages under their belts
-Scream about celebrities getting involved in politics, yet WTF is Joe Rogan? WTF is his background that makes him qualified to even speak on any subject involving science or politics? If the subject is eating animal nutsacks, telling jokes or MMA fighting, fine.
I could go on, but we all know it's just endless how full of shit Republicans are when it comes to what they say vs what they do. Projection.
We all fucking know that if Obama had so much as taken a paperclip from a confidential document, these motherfuckers would already have prosecuted him.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 30, 2022 6:57 PM |
What's the difference, R13? Do you see the Republican party speaking out against Trump? No, they're endlessly defending that asshole and trying to act like him STEALING confidential documents was nothing,
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 30, 2022 7:03 PM |
He's not very smart, not very articulate, and certainly not very interesting. This makes him perfect to lead the idiots who need to follow someone exactly like them.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 30, 2022 7:06 PM |
Well the problem is that there are a lot of idiots who follow him. He has a massive following and they believe everything they hear on his show, even when he frames it as "just asking questions."
The difference with this time is that he wasn't posing a question to some right winger so they could spread their own garbage propaganda, he was issuing a direct order straight from his own mouth: "vote Republican."
If your response to that is "who cares" or, worse, some both sides b.s. about tribalism so you can change the topic, I don't understand you at all.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 30, 2022 7:12 PM |
It was during the Aaron Rogers interview, r8.

Rogan is also responsible for the "Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook threw the 2020 election by request of the FBI" bullshit that's been going around lately. As I said in another thread, he's clearly now a clearinghouse for Republican lies and propaganda, which those of us with functioning synapses knew already, but now he can't hide it.
Trump's meltdown this morning about the FBI interfering in the election comes from all the social media bullshit about it started by Rogan (and Zuckerberg).
None of these fucking idiot Deplorables seem to realize that they're getting their information from one billionaire who interviewed another billionaire and then skewed the story to help a third billionaire.

by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 30, 2022 7:23 PM |
Explain to me the difference between Rogan or Rodgers having a political view vs a Kardashian having one? You know the difference? There isn't one. They're all entitled to a political view, but right-wing trash only scream about celebrity political views if they're liberal in nature and they're the only idiots who vote for celebrities without a single qualification to be in political office. Trump couldn't tell you who wrote the constitution when he was running. He could never pass a third grade test on US history, yet millions of morons voted for that swine.
The right-wing have no standards, that's why they give credibility to this meathead podcaster's political views.

Joe Rogan is a manipulative piece of shit. He's clearly a libertarian who supports Republicans. See him moving to TX to avoid taxes on his Spotify contract.
But he's smart enough to bait the left by saying stuff like him faux-supporting Bernie. The BernieBros, of course, fell for it. Last month, he even said "I’m so far away from being a Republican" and "I’m a bleeding heart liberal when it comes to a lot of shit".
Only gullible idiots listen to his podcast.

Faux? Not so.
Some of the reason Trump won in 2016 was the disillusioned Bernie supporters who felt the DNC rigged things for Hillary. Some of them didn't vote in the general election and some of them voted for Trump out of disgust.
Both parties are pretty much in the pockets of corporations, so I see the appeal of Bernie to people who feel their concerns are being ignored.

To answer OP's question: no one who would be surprised or who would disagree with his suggestion listens to this opportunitistic, leather-faced, frogman. So, there was little discussion about him. As there should be, really. His fanbois love that he said it and won't stop listening because anyone points out he said aloud (finally) what we all knew he was subtly telling his listeners. Those who revile him aren't going to start to tune in to hear him say it again/more often.

Yeah, I don’t get it. There weren’t shutdowns, there were restrictions. Yes, some industries were hit harder. I have hairdresser friends, for example, who suffered. Big corporations made out like bandits, though, and so did Republican politicians and donors. The most any of us had to do was wear a stupid mask, and even that was too much for so-called patriots. Besides killing 600,000 Americans, the other thing Covid did was show how stupid and selfish people are, and how guys like Rogan could exploit that stupidity for his own gain. In the past, I think people stayed stuck on their positions, no matter the consequences, but we are starting to see some regret show up, like with voters who went along with prosecution reform and who are now greatly regretting the inevitable result of violent criminals being allowed to walk and commit more heinous crimes. Those voters realize, belatedly, that they shot themselves in the foot. We saw in SF, though, that they are starting to accept that they were wrong.

You think that's something that should be up for debate? You think some 18yo who wants to be called "they" is the counter on the left to the police state the right-wing is trying to create? Fuck your "both sides" idiocy.
Australia should go fuck itself just for unleashing that demonic Murdoch family on the world.

R103, I said nothing "nuts." People like you dismiss what the Republicans have done because it's far easier than confronting what they have done. The damage they have done. We had a president steal confidential files. This was after he tried to steal an election. This was after his flying monkeys tried to go kill MoC and the VP. this was after he abused his time in office. This was after he was known to have assaulted countless women. This was after countless years of corruption in business.
But by all means, pretend anything I said wasn't accurate and I'm "nuts" for being right-fully angry at the attempt to rationalize or outright dismiss the cruelty, hate and bigotry of the right-wing.

People like R86 are losing their shit because
A) Democrats are on a winning streak
B) Republicans are on an epic losing streak
C) Democrats are favored in poll after poll on the Generic Congressional Ballot which is unheard of in a midterm being the party in power
D) Trump is a treasonous scumbag and that is being shown daily now after the FBI search of his house
E) Actual elections since Roe was overturned have seen a swing to Democrats by 5-15 pts and is only going to amplify the more the horrors of the bans on abortion are felt
F) Republicans have nothing to run on, offer no solutions
G) The solutions they do run on are deeply unpopular like ditching SS and Medicare
H) Republican messaging is in disarray after Democrats and Biden have passed meaningful, popular legislation, tightened their messaging, are unified
I) Republicans vote against capping the cost of insulin, against funding health care for sick, dying veterans in a tantrum over nothing, advocate Defunding the FBI (and nullifying their Defend the Police narrative), and shrug at our Top Secrets lying around a high school pool party
J) Voters top concern now is democracy
It has been a brutal 7 weeks for Republicans and a great 7 weeks for Democrats. Dark Brandon has seen is approvals skyrocket into the mid/upper 40s.

Saving Social Security for all of us. Reducing the federal deficit by decreasing subsidies to private companies which already have record profits and increasing taxes on the very rich (don't even question this: look at the data on fed deficits Repub v Dem administrations since Reagan - you are being lied to). Allowing Americans to pay lower prices for medications (cf: Canada). Improving infrastructure (bridges, highways, power grid). Responding to impact of climate crisis - i.e. clean water (c.f. Mississippi right now). Protecting the right of men to love and marry men, of women to love and marry women. Protecting states ability to let women have control over their own bodies.
On and on. There is a profound difference between the parties. That difference results in higher quality of life for the majority of people. That difference is obscured by the noise and fog of rightwing media, funded my the super-rich who want to break laws and increase wealth by manipulating voters with white fear, Christian nationalism, and tribal greivance.
It's time to move forward.

by Anonymous | reply 137 | September 1, 2022 4:42 PM |
No, progressives don't idealize or idolize Cheney, not at all. We admire her courage in calling out an insurrection when she sees it. We acknowledge and respect her willingness to lose an election on that principle.
And so we are ABLE to think and chew gum at the same time. Able to, in this instance, resist the essentialist irrational tribalism that now characterizes so much of our public sphere. That cause folks who know better (Sen G, for example) to suck at the grievance tit of MAGA and speak in addled incoherent ways about all Dems in order to align with Trumpist lies.
Really, we must begin to think more rationally. Does Cheney assert something that helps, that makes sense? Ok, I agree with her. Does Cheney support rampant crony-capitalism and militarist interventions? Ok, I disagree with her.
See? It's not that hard.

Why isn't this "free speech" pile of shit asking "Why didn't DeSantis' govt make it so these people KNEW they couldn't vote? Yet another reason America hates the Left - you think people are too damn dumb to do their own research and take everything at face value. You believe they have to be spoonfed the “correct information.” Typical Marxist brainwashing. This is why Democrats are seen as elitist assholes and lose elections. Democrats are the party of believe they science yet they deny biology. This isn’t lost on American voters. That’s why Republicans continue to win elections despite Trump. Americans know the Left is just as insane and cultish.

He is regularly leaping to the wrong conclusions and making poor judgement calls. It's not about free speech. I don't feel that someone who goes down all these different rabbit holes with lunatic fringe guests should be taken seriously.

r192, 99% of the world agrees there are only two human sexes, and we have a global, trillion dollar funded push to deny that reality, ban people from social media who state such, have people fired who state such, have them doxxed, physically attacked, have time added on to their prison sentences, deny them bank accounts and other sources of funding, have their children taken from them if they don't submit to agreement that biology is imaginary, etc. This reality denying movement, to the financial benefit of Big Pharma and Big Bio-Tech, is funded and propagandized by the same men who benefit from Pfizer and Moderna stocks soaring, who benefit from breaking the wills and minds of "the people", the same psychopaths who threaten to kill half of their own constituents with fighter jets. This is who you're making common cause with. And, yes, doing one's own research, thinking for oneself is enormously frowned upon by those who insist they are "the science" and that holding views that differ, even slightly, are cause for excommunication.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
