Why is no one talking about Joe Rogan telling his listeners to vote Republican?

Well? Just a few months ago we had multiple posters swearing up and down that Rogan wasn't a conservative.

Why isn't this getting attention on DL today?

by Anonymousreply 195September 3, 2022 8:08 PM

Who cares.

by Anonymousreply 1August 30, 2022 6:20 PM

They haven't been told to argue about it yet.

by Anonymousreply 2August 30, 2022 6:23 PM

I would hope actual Democrats care.

Any of those left around here?

by Anonymousreply 3August 30, 2022 6:24 PM

R2, who is "they?"

by Anonymousreply 4August 30, 2022 6:24 PM

r3 Why would Dems care? We've known forever now that Rogan's listeners are mainly libertarian douchebros who most likely don't vote at all, let alone vote Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 5August 30, 2022 6:28 PM

Do any Democrats actually listen to him?

by Anonymousreply 6August 30, 2022 6:28 PM

Joe went full on right wing a few years ago. That's when I stopped listening. Even as it was, I was never a big fan. Caught his show every now and then,

I did used to like the fact that he had such a wide array of guests, from all walks of life, and he remained relatively neutral.

I assume now that's all stopped.

Rogan is the king of the JAQoff trolls; why would anyone be surprised by this?

by Anonymousreply 12August 30, 2022 6:44 PM

He's not a conservative; he's a MAGA fascist.

by Anonymousreply 13August 30, 2022 6:46 PM

MAGA fascists are conservatives, R13. Don't try to obfuscate what everyone already knows.

by Anonymousreply 14August 30, 2022 6:47 PM

Ugh. More tribal shit. I vote for the candidate, not the party now. I've been thinking about changing my party affiliation from Democrat to independent but I like voting in primaries.

I'm in an area where a lot of local races only have one party fielding a candidate. It's like elections in China.

by Anonymousreply 15August 30, 2022 6:48 PM

[quote]Ugh. More tribal shit. I vote for the candidate, not the party now.

What does that have to do with Joe Rogan?

by Anonymousreply 16August 30, 2022 6:49 PM

OP, what's the point? His listeners are hypocritical shitheads and all Republicans ever do is prove their glaring hypocrisy on every God damned thing-

-Scream about "socialism," yet most of the top 15 states dependent on handouts are red states

-Scream about abortion, yet how many fucking Republicans have already been caught to have gotten multiple abortions for mistresses

-Scream about being silenced and censorship, yet they're the ones banning books, they're the ones who reject their own RW platforms to stay on "liberal" twitter.

-Scream about the Covid vaccine being about "Big Pharma" making $, but do take Ivermectin because that was apparently made by elves in a mystical forest with unicorn's piss and fairy dust.

-Scream about the sanctity of marriage, yet they're all having affairs and have multiple marriages under their belts

-Scream about celebrities getting involved in politics, yet WTF is Joe Rogan? WTF is his background that makes him qualified to even speak on any subject involving science or politics? If the subject is eating animal nutsacks, telling jokes or MMA fighting, fine.

I could go on, but we all know it's just endless how full of shit Republicans are when it comes to what they say vs what they do. Projection.

We all fucking know that if Obama had so much as taken a paperclip from a confidential document, these motherfuckers would already have prosecuted him.

by Anonymousreply 17August 30, 2022 6:57 PM

What's the difference, R13? Do you see the Republican party speaking out against Trump? No, they're endlessly defending that asshole and trying to act like him STEALING confidential documents was nothing,

by Anonymousreply 18August 30, 2022 7:03 PM

He's not very smart, not very articulate, and certainly not very interesting. This makes him perfect to lead the idiots who need to follow someone exactly like them.

by Anonymousreply 19August 30, 2022 7:06 PM

Well the problem is that there are a lot of idiots who follow him. He has a massive following and they believe everything they hear on his show, even when he frames it as "just asking questions."

The difference with this time is that he wasn't posing a question to some right winger so they could spread their own garbage propaganda, he was issuing a direct order straight from his own mouth: "vote Republican."

If your response to that is "who cares" or, worse, some both sides b.s. about tribalism so you can change the topic, I don't understand you at all.

by Anonymousreply 20August 30, 2022 7:12 PM

It was during the Aaron Rogers interview, r8.

Here's the clip. Mostly only rightwingers posted about it online and they're the ones with the clip, sorry.

R20 Baby, if someone is listening to Joe Rogan they were voting Republican from the beginning.

by Anonymousreply 22August 30, 2022 7:20 PM

My bad, this is some sockpuppet master attempt at stirring shit.

by Anonymousreply 23August 30, 2022 7:21 PM

Rogan is also responsible for the "Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook threw the 2020 election by request of the FBI" bullshit that's been going around lately. As I said in another thread, he's clearly now a clearinghouse for Republican lies and propaganda, which those of us with functioning synapses knew already, but now he can't hide it.

Trump's meltdown this morning about the FBI interfering in the election comes from all the social media bullshit about it started by Rogan (and Zuckerberg).

None of these fucking idiot Deplorables seem to realize that they're getting their information from one billionaire who interviewed another billionaire and then skewed the story to help a third billionaire.

by Anonymousreply 24August 30, 2022 7:22 PM

He fug.

by Anonymousreply 25August 30, 2022 7:23 PM

Explain to me the difference between Rogan or Rodgers having a political view vs a Kardashian having one? You know the difference? There isn't one. They're all entitled to a political view, but right-wing trash only scream about celebrity political views if they're liberal in nature and they're the only idiots who vote for celebrities without a single qualification to be in political office. Trump couldn't tell you who wrote the constitution when he was running. He could never pass a third grade test on US history, yet millions of morons voted for that swine.

The right-wing have no standards, that's why they give credibility to this meathead podcaster's political views.

by Anonymousreply 26August 30, 2022 7:24 PM

Joe Rogan is the Question Troll?

by Anonymousreply 27August 30, 2022 7:27 PM

What’s his ethnic background?

by Anonymousreply 28August 30, 2022 7:28 PM

Joe Rogan is a manipulative piece of shit. He's clearly a libertarian who supports Republicans. See him moving to TX to avoid taxes on his Spotify contract.

But he's smart enough to bait the left by saying stuff like him faux-supporting Bernie. The BernieBros, of course, fell for it. Last month, he even said "I’m so far away from being a Republican" and "I’m a bleeding heart liberal when it comes to a lot of shit".

Only gullible idiots listen to his podcast.

by Anonymousreply 29August 30, 2022 7:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 31August 30, 2022 8:18 PM

>But he's smart enough to bait the left by saying stuff like him faux-supporting Bernie.

Faux? Not so.

Some of the reason Trump won in 2016 was the disillusioned Bernie supporters who felt the DNC rigged things for Hillary. Some of them didn't vote in the general election and some of them voted for Trump out of disgust.

Both parties are pretty much in the pockets of corporations, so I see the appeal of Bernie to people who feel their concerns are being ignored.

by Anonymousreply 32August 30, 2022 9:10 PM

From Wikipedia:

by Anonymousreply 36August 30, 2022 10:47 PM

The Democrats rig their primaries.

So, it is not unreasonable to prefer the Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 37August 31, 2022 9:03 AM

r15, no, vote on the issues.

by Anonymousreply 38August 31, 2022 9:11 AM

The Republican Party is unfortunately not a good governing part at the moment. They have no plans to help anyone everything is objections and taking things away

by Anonymousreply 39August 31, 2022 9:24 AM

Who r39 is not: a woman locked in a prison cell with a male rapist who has a "gender identity".

by Anonymousreply 40August 31, 2022 9:42 AM

It's like clockwork with R37 posting at the usual time (5AM EST). Which foreign country are you from?

by Anonymousreply 41August 31, 2022 12:22 PM

Who R40 is not: a 12-year-old forced to carry her rapist's baby to term even though it has serious consequences for her future ability to bear children (not to mention the psychological scars)—thanks to mainstream Republicans everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 42August 31, 2022 12:29 PM

a woman locked in a prison cell with a male rapist who has a "gender identity".

The chances of this happening are slim to none, at best. Yet Republican Party assholes like R40 think it happens every day because of their constant amplification of trivial matters. Also, as if Republicans give a good God damn about prisoners and their cell mates.

by Anonymousreply 43August 31, 2022 12:34 PM

He's a fat ugly pig.

by Anonymousreply 44August 31, 2022 12:38 PM

Oh, I'm sure Republicans are really concerned about prison life, esp., those for-profit prisons. They're so concerned about the prison population, that they're trying to send people back who thought they were allowed to vote while making sure deplorables who try to vote for their dead relatives, get no prison time.

by Anonymousreply 45August 31, 2022 12:40 PM

To answer OP's question: no one who would be surprised or who would disagree with his suggestion listens to this opportunitistic, leather-faced, frogman. So, there was little discussion about him. As there should be, really. His fanbois love that he said it and won't stop listening because anyone points out he said aloud (finally) what we all knew he was subtly telling his listeners. Those who revile him aren't going to start to tune in to hear him say it again/more often.

Meanwhile, Trump and treason and the Republican machine is trying to nullify our votes....

by Anonymousreply 46August 31, 2022 12:53 PM

If Joe Rogan said "vote Democrat", now that would be a shock and worth talking about. He's basically a baby Rush Limbaugh and is preaching to an audience that was already voting Republican anyway.

by Anonymousreply 47August 31, 2022 12:58 PM

Precisely, R47.

by Anonymousreply 48August 31, 2022 1:00 PM

What's the downside? When one has a $100 million dollar contract, Social Security means nothing as does Medicare, so that's nothing to vote for. Preserving the Republicans billionaire tax cuts however is a positive. .

by Anonymousreply 49August 31, 2022 1:05 PM

[quote] Rogan is also responsible for the "Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook threw the 2020 election by request of the FBI" bullshit that's been going around lately.

That’s obviously not true. It was Zuckerberg himself who generated the news when he admitted that it was the FBI’s interference that caused Facebook to censor the news about Hunter’s laptop.

by Anonymousreply 50August 31, 2022 1:10 PM

No way! Joe knows me! He feels my pain! He may not live in his mom's basement like I do, or have to work for minimum wage like I have to, or fuck a fleshlight like I have to, but HE GETS ME, OK?!? He understands my pain and I will listen to him if I want! DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO OR THINK!

by Anonymousreply 51August 31, 2022 1:11 PM

Libertarians are just Republicans who can spell.

by Anonymousreply 52August 31, 2022 1:11 PM

Rogan did’t say people should vote Republican because he’s a conservative. He said they should do it specifically because of the issue of Democrats mishandling the response to the pandemic. He’s putting that issue above others,

Democratic response: "Vaccines! Masks! Mitigate! Help our healthcare workers! Help your neighbor! Watch out for your elderly neighbor! Watch out for our unvaccinated and immunocompromised! Be a decent human, please!"

Yeah. How could anyone want to vote for those democrats?🤡

by Anonymousreply 58August 31, 2022 1:23 PM

By the way, has anyone ever derisively referred to him as "Joe Rogaine"? I myself would never do anything so crass and juvenile, but I can see it appealing to persons of low wit.

by Anonymousreply 59August 31, 2022 1:33 PM

Yeah, I don’t get it. There weren’t shutdowns, there were restrictions. Yes, some industries were hit harder. I have hairdresser friends, for example, who suffered. Big corporations made out like bandits, though, and so did Republican politicians and donors. The most any of us had to do was wear a stupid mask, and even that was too much for so-called patriots. Besides killing 600,000 Americans, the other thing Covid did was show how stupid and selfish people are, and how guys like Rogan could exploit that stupidity for his own gain. That’s where we’re at as a society.

by Anonymousreply 60August 31, 2022 1:38 PM

Republicans and their corporate puppeteers make more money when their sheep are afraid.

"Vote against your interests so you can Own those 'Libs' who are your brothers, sisters, mom's and dads, sheep!"

"Buy expensive firearms instead of saving for a real emergency or putting it into the stock market, sheep!"

"Don't vote for the party that is offering you clean air, clean water, education for your kids, and ideas to make things safer for you and your family, sheep! You don't want a clean, safe, healthy planet! You want dirty chaos, sheep!"

"You're miserable, aren't you, sheep? Well who's fault is that? No! Don't look over HERE! No, don't look in the mirror! It's THEM, sheep! It's those other people! GET THEM!!!"

In the past, I think people stayed stuck on their positions, no matter the consequences, but we are starting to see some regret show up, like with voters who went along with prosecution reform and who are now greatly regretting the inevitable result of violent criminals being allowed to walk and commit more heinous crimes. Those voters realize, belatedly, that they shot themselves in the foot. We saw in SF, though, that they are starting to accept that they were wrong.

I don't give a fuck if you HATE Dems, but saying this bullshit shows what a shithead he really and truly is. Are his listeners even capable of being embarrassed listening to him praise someone who was a known liar and nodding along like an empty bobblehead ?

Well, the right wing has been calling anyone left of center "Stalinists" forever. And when Democrats call our Republicans for being fascists (or even Nazis) it's not mere name calling: it's because those Republicans show sympathy for modern-day fascists and openly say they want to emulate despots like Orbán in the U.S.

by Anonymousreply 89September 1, 2022 2:18 AM

The republican party (and its derivatives) continue to spin off, not just to extremist policy, but into irrationality. And there is absolutely no point in addressing it in media... just need to focus on positive change and health and go on with your life. The Kray Kray will stay... in its corners. Let them be. Don't offer them your air.

Joe Rogan just said that Kayleigh McEnany was the best Press Secretary in history. The "Michael Jordan" of Press Secretaries. There is absolutely no space in that world view for rational discourse. Let him go with love.

You know less than shit because the Democrats haven't proposed any god damned laws trying to suppress or oppress people. The right-wing is passing censorship laws, creating snitch phone lines to report teachers teaching history of which the RW doesn't approve and making 10yo rape victims escape their state to get help - and they're even trying to stop that. You think that's something that should be up for debate? You think some 18yo who wants to be called "they" is the counter on the left to the police state the right-wing is trying to create? I know I entered a hornets nest when I came in here but I am sick of these circle jerks in which you launch into a tirade about everyone you hate and then everyone else agrees and you think, we all think the same way. We don’t . It is just everyone knows what will happen if you say anything against the latest tirade, so they shut up.

I have been in Datalounge for over 20 years and as a Gay man I don’t give a flying rats ass what you think.

I just think it is sad that is all. But please feel free to comment on my small bogan dick, turns me on that you have no clue, but seem to know everything oh wise ones lol

by Anonymousreply 105September 1, 2022 3:02 AM

R103, I said nothing "nuts." People like you dismiss what the Republicans have done because it's far easier than confronting what they have done. The damage they have done. We had a president steal confidential files. This was after he tried to steal an election. This was after his flying monkeys tried to go kill MoC and the VP. this was after he abused his time in office. This was after he was known to have assaulted countless women. This was after countless years of corruption in business.

But by all means, pretend anything I said wasn't accurate and I'm "nuts" for being right-fully angry at the attempt to rationalize or outright dismiss the cruelty, hate and bigotry of the right-wing.

by Anonymousreply 106September 1, 2022 3:03 AM

R6, I attempted to listen to a few of his podcast during the CoViD heyday, and I just couldn’t get through them.

I’m not sure he believes any of the BS he prattles on about, but he’s boring AF.

I haven’t a clue why anyone finds him interesting, other than for his obvious pandering for bucks.

He lucked out with Trump having become President. It made him a very wealthy man.

And fuck his rabid devotees. They deserve all the bullshit Rohan and other opportunists serve them.

People like R86 are losing their shit because

A) Democrats are on a winning streak

B) Republicans are on an epic losing streak

C) Democrats are favored in poll after poll on the Generic Congressional Ballot which is unheard of in a midterm being the party in power

D) Trump is a treasonous scumbag and that is being shown daily now after the FBI search of his house

E) Actual elections since Roe was overturned have seen a swing to Democrats by 5-15 pts and is only going to amplify the more the horrors of the bans on abortion are felt

F) Republicans have nothing to run on, offer no solutions

G) The solutions they do run on are deeply unpopular like ditching SS and Medicare

H) Republican messaging is in disarray after Democrats and Biden have passed meaningful, popular legislation, tightened their messaging, are unified

I) Republicans vote against capping the cost of insulin, against funding health care for sick, dying veterans in a tantrum over nothing, advocate Defunding the FBI (and nullifying their Defend the Police narrative), and shrug at our Top Secrets lying around a high school pool party

J) Voters top concern now is democracy

It has been a brutal 7 weeks for Republicans and a great 7 weeks for Democrats. Dark Brandon has seen is approvals skyrocket into the mid/upper 40s.

So, we get the trolls on DL in absolute meltdown. And we’re loving every fucking minute of it.

I actually thought Joe's stand up was pretty good. But I thought people think of him as I stoner, MMA, bro, Fear Factor kind of guy? So now he has massive ratings so he is connecting with a huge audience. At the end of day though, if someone is going to vote for someone because Joe friggin Rogan told them to, Good Lord we are fucked.

Saving Social Security for all of us. Reducing the federal deficit by decreasing subsidies to private companies which already have record profits and increasing taxes on the very rich (don't even question this: look at the data on fed deficits Repub v Dem administrations since Reagan - you are being lied to). Allowing Americans to pay lower prices for medications (cf: Canada). Improving infrastructure (bridges, highways, power grid). Responding to impact of climate crisis - i.e. clean water (c.f. Mississippi right now). Protecting the right of men to love and marry men, of women to love and marry women. Protecting states ability to let women have control over their own bodies.

On and on. There is a profound difference between the parties. That difference results in higher quality of life for the majority of people. That difference is obscured by the noise and fog of rightwing media, funded my the super-rich who want to break laws and increase wealth by manipulating voters with white fear, Christian nationalism, and tribal greivance.

It's time to move forward.

[quote]Whom Datalounge now idolizes.

No, DL doesn't idolize Cheney. In fact, I loathe her. But she is the perfect example of "My enemy's enemy..." She is our "friend" for ONE purpose alone. Her policies are shit.

The DLers who "idolize" revisionist history where they pretend Trump is no threat or pull the "both sides" bullshit and enable the right-wing fascism taking hold (I'm sure you're one of them), are a bigger threat than Liz Cheney could ever be - and I couldn't hate that woman's views more than I already do.

by Anonymousreply 136September 1, 2022 4:30 PM

Cheney is no ally. To me, this is an "infighting is funny" issue where conservatives fight with conservatives. The winner of that fight still remains an enemy of liberal values.

by Anonymousreply 137September 1, 2022 4:42 PM

No, progressives don't idealize or idolize Cheney, not at all. We admire her courage in calling out an insurrection when she sees it. We acknowledge and respect her willingness to lose an election on that principle.

And so we are ABLE to think and chew gum at the same time. Able to, in this instance, resist the essentialist irrational tribalism that now characterizes so much of our public sphere. That cause folks who know better (Sen G, for example) to suck at the grievance tit of MAGA and speak in addled incoherent ways about all Dems in order to align with Trumpist lies.

Really, we must begin to think more rationally. Does Cheney assert something that helps, that makes sense? Ok, I agree with her. Does Cheney support rampant crony-capitalism and militarist interventions? Ok, I disagree with her.

See? It's not that hard.

by Anonymousreply 138September 1, 2022 4:48 PM

DeSantis --the guy this literal dickhead, MMA dwarf is pushing-- is having people arrested for voting because they didn't know they couldn't. Why isn't this "free speech" pile of shit asking "Why didn't DeSantis' govt make it so these people KNEW they couldn't vote? Why did DeSantis reject the will of the voters who feel people who serve their time SHOULD be allowed to vote?" Mr. "Free Speech" doesn't ask that

Rogan is a fucking idiot trying to push lies and pretending he doesn't know that the GOP is the party actually legislating fascistic policy, because he feels he'll be fine in that world and so do you, I guess. Yet another reason America hates the Left - you think people are too damn dumb to do their own research and take everything at face value. You believe they have to be spoonfed the “correct information.” Typical Marxist brainwashing. This is why Democrats are seen as elitist assholes and lose elections. Democrats are the party of believe they science yet they deny biology. This isn’t lost on American voters. That’s why Republicans continue to win elections despite Trump. Americans know the Left is just as insane and cultish.

by Anonymousreply 183September 3, 2022 12:02 AM

R183 Wow, the left is the party of cult now? With the Trump MAGA crowd having overtaken the Republican party and looking to eliminate democracy? Go sell crazy someplace else.

He is regularly leaping to the wrong conclusions and making poor judgement calls. It's not about free speech. I don't feel that someone who goes down all these different rabbit holes with lunatic fringe guests should be taken seriously.

Personally I regularly challenge popular thinking and commonly accepted norms, but I know not to make half-baked comments that millions of listeners take at face value. The arrogance, projection and lack of self awareness are continuously jaw dropping.

R183 30% of Americans believe the world is flat. They've done their research and come up with their own conclusions.

No one objects to people doing their own "research" and holding whatever opinions they choose to have. Suggesting this is just grievance-based obfuscation. But there is something called "common sense"... and situating these "rights" to believe whatever you want regardless of its content in some "political landscape" is why own Public Sphere is full of garbage.

Common sense. It's a thing, eh?

by Anonymousreply 192September 3, 2022 3:24 PM

r192, 99% of the world agrees there are only two human sexes, and we have a global, trillion dollar funded push to deny that reality, ban people from social media who state such, have people fired who state such, have them doxxed, physically attacked, have time added on to their prison sentences, deny them bank accounts and other sources of funding, have their children taken from them if they don't submit to agreement that biology is imaginary, etc. This reality denying movement, to the financial benefit of Big Pharma and Big Bio-Tech, is funded and propagandized by the same men who benefit from Pfizer and Moderna stocks soaring, who benefit from breaking the wills and minds of "the people", the same psychopaths who threaten to kill half of their own constituents with fighter jets. This is who you're making common cause with.
