I thought Bill Daly was adorable actually, both there and in "I Dream of Jeannie".
Ted Knight played Ted Baxter, a buffoon, brilliantly.

I can think of someone else on "Suits" whose face I still want to punch in.

Why would anyone want to punch Jimmy Walker's face in he was just funny.
My pick would be Larry Linville who portrayed Frank Burns brilliantly. He even brought a touch of sadness to the character. Ironically, LL was described as being the opposite of FB, a sweet and kind man. Died too young from cancer.

Not to worry, Charlotte. Someday you will be the Princess Royal, someday your Dad will be King and Mom will be Queen, and later on your brother will be King. Your future is bright. The same can't be said for that awful woman.

"WELL-CASTEDED"? Are you retarded?

I know, r9. It cracked me up that I actually knew these characters (except for the Suits guy who I know from commercials only -- highly punchable face BTW). If the choices were characters from current shows, I wouldn't be able to participate.

I'm with R8. I liked Paul Benedict's character on The Jeffersons far more than I liked George Jefferson himself.

It's CAST, OP.
Not Casted.
Not Casteded.

How about Steve Carell from the Office.
I just started watching the show on Peacock, and I’m really enjoying it but that Michael Scott character is so obnoxiously clueless that I have to watch his scenes with my hand over my face.

The most obnoxious character on the Jeffersons was Mother Jefferson, obviously. Poor Louise.

R14, for a second I thought that was a picture of that ugly guy from Suits.
No, not Markle. The other one.

[quote] "Ken Osmond - Eddie Haskell (Leave It To Beaver)"
Between Ken Osmond & Tony Dow, "punching" is not the verb I have in mind. I certainly didn't feel that way as a kid, watching it in 1980s reruns.
And I think Gale Gordon was less annoying than Lucille, R14. Especially after "The Lucy Show".

I liked the casted of “Leave It To Beaver,” OP—so I pick Ken Osmond as Eddie.

The Howard Borden character was not obnoxious, just annoying.

Eddie Haskell's character stole the show. He was hilarious. He had a charming, impish side. He wasn't obnoxious.

R10, the William Daniels character, Dr. Mark Craig, was my favorite St. Elsewhere character. Behind the arrogance, the egomania, the sharp tongued remarks, was a kind, sensitive, and loving man. Willam Daniels was positively brilliant. He shaded the character with warmth and humanity.

The Stan character added a fun dimension to the show. Herb Edelman and Bea Arthur had terrific chemistry. Each brought out the best in each other. They were comic gold.

Maybe an odd pick, but Wendy Byrde on Ozark. Linney does a great job with the character. Wendy is do fucking annoying - a Karen taken to massive extremes. And Linney chews so much scenery with her - but in a good way. The gushing, the sighing, the demonic cutsey smile, the tantrums, the particular obnoxious cadence of her speech.

Dan Devito/Louie on Taxi. He was a pretty horrible character. His wife - Rhea Pherlman - as Carla on Cheers in the later years. She was a good foil for Diane, but after that she just seemed to get progressively meaner and did not seem to like anyone except maybe Sam.

Jimmie Walker got funnier when he stopped saying DYNOMITE!!
I liked Herb Edelman as Stan. I knew a man just like him. Sleezy, funny, kind, stupid, wants his cake and eat it too, always involved in get-rich-quick schemes. I think Herb played Stan very well.
I loved Ted Knight on MTM. I thought he was funny.

The KACL staff on "Frasier."
Bulldog Briscoe - Played by a gay man, but obnoxiously one-note and inexplicably made part of the main cast during the middle seasons
Gil Chesterton - An effete little half-a-fag who can't muster anything more than a tame bon-mot about haute cuisine in that shithole, Seattle
Noel Schempsky - An incel, and a one-note Star Trek joke who should've brought a gun and shot up the place in the last season
All of the station managers/owners, except for the gay guy and the stunt-casted Oscar winner in Season 3

David Schramm was so perfect as the assholic Roy Biggins on “Wings” that he pretty retired after the show was canceled. By the way, he was gay wasn’t he?

The most annoying/obnoxious character on tv is that pig with the annoying voice on Will & Grace. My bf at the time loved that show. I had to leave the room when he had it on.

Agreed; the storyline after his son died (after drunkenly wrecking the car, killing himself & his wife) was really moving; his wife is a mess, but she finds a way to deal with her grief while he can't.
I think the best "baddies" give their characters bring some degree of humanity so they're not 100% asshole

Mary or Edith on Downton Abbey.

R57 Which one was which? I honestly couldn't tell the three daughters apart.
Same with the maids, the butlers, the underbutlers, and the guest stars.
IN MY DAY, I never had a staff of losers hanging around doing nothing. You lose all your money on staff. Cut them loose. We didn't need five doormen and round-the-clock laundry service. Fire them all, or let me do it!
