I listened to about 1/2 of the first podcast with Serena Williams. It wasn't even fun to hate-listen to. Completely dreary. Also, I think Serena said only one or two sentences in the 1/2 hour I heard.

The intro to the interview was interminable....with Meghan trying to give the impression of speaking extemporaneously--though it was obvious she was reading a script.

Apparently, this is a limited-series podcast--will have only a handful of episodes. Thank god for that.

She goes to great lengths to express how insulted she was and how let down she was by Mariah, and to clarify that Mariah only meant she's diva in terms of how great looking and well-dressed she is.

We all had her number from the outset, but will anyone like her after this podcast series and press blitz is done?

Love how Meghan, at the end of the podcast, asked mariah how she felt today. Her response: exhausted, tired and hopeful. Minus the hopeful I’m sure most people who got through the podcast could relate to the first two sentiments. Meghan’s obsequiousness is exhausting and her constant need to liken her own struggle to those of her guests is quite maddening and frustrating. It’s bringing nothing new or original to the arena- just rehashing what we all already know.

The second podcast is doing far less well than the first one with Serena Williams.

As many predicted, the first one attracted large numbers of the curious, as opposed to the acolytes. Bored witless by the shallow, breathless schoolgirl bitching between two women of 40+ with more money than most of the listeners could see in 1,000 lifetimes without a major lottery jackpot, many did not return for a second helping.

The ones coming up, absent Mindy Kaling and Gloria Steinem, are unlikely to draw in huge audiences.

I look forward to seeing Meghan, a d-list actress with one solid acting job on her CV, try to dominate Kaling, a hugely successful television entertainment figure who isn't, from the little I've heard, anything of a shrinking violet. Podcast success is an art, not a science. I’ve been reading industry news, and these corporations really cannot just manufacture something that is guaranteed to be popular. And even if something does become popular, it’s not easy to maintain.

Anyway, Meghan has no interest in making podcasting her career. Or even part of it. She only did this series because Spotify put her feet to the fire and demanded she fulfill the contract.
