Christine And The Queens now using he/him - changes name
Chris, the French singer previously known as Christine and the Queens, has recently expanded his artistic moniker to Christine and the Queens presents Redcar, a PR representative for the artist confirmed. He spoke about the name change, as well as his gender journey, in a TikTok video posted on August 18.
In the 3-minute video, which is entirely in French, Chris says that he has been more masculine in his gender presentation for about a year and has been out about his identity to family and close friends. He called the gender journey a “long process.” Chris has been sharing this exploration of his identity with the press slowly over time, including in a New York Times interview in March. “My journey with gender has always been tumultuous. It’s raging right now, as I’m just exploring what is beyond this,” he said at the time. “I kind of want to tear down that system that made us label genders in such a strict way.”

I always thought the album cover looked like a portrait of Jonathan Groff.

Man, I was a relatively big fan of hers back when she first started out, what a shame she went full tard. Hasn't released anything listenable in ages, either. Too busy getting pilled on Tumblr, no doubt.

I just read this and I am THROWN.
I am fully on board with anyone using any pronouns they want, but this is such an attention-grabby, stunty decision and it is entirely confusing.
This person was born a woman and named Héloïse.
When they started as a pop star, they called themself as a single individual 'Christine and the Queens,' which is already disorienting and difficult to process. But still, they presented as a woman.
Then became more and more androgynous. Fine.
Then became more mannish in style. Fine.
Kept the name 'Christine and the Queens,' which is both feminine and plural, but said, 'refer to me with singular, masculine pronouns—and no, I am not transgender, and will remain Christine.'
Cmon. It's just a mindfuck. This is the first time I've been really bothered by someone playing with gender because in cases of transgender people, people say "I'm this gender and want to be referred to with that gender's pronouns." That is rational. That makes sense. Saying "I am a single individual but my name is a collective feminine name and you shall refer to me with singular masculine pronouns but not think of me as male or female" is a big fuck-you to everyone who has been respectful about this movement.
