Her voice is very grating. But she can sing. She just prefers to shout in her songs and go off-key and have autotune for some reason. She sounded better with Christian pop music.

She never had an identity for herself. She went from Christian music to indie folk pop to dance pop. She was most popular with the Dr Luke production and with long black hair that made her look like Betty Page. Once she dropped Luke and cut her hair and went blonde. It was over.

I remember Lady Gaga and her released a single/abum around the same time and how she handily clobbered Gaga. I though that would be the end of Gaga. But look where they are now.

I agree, R17. Her voice is, and has always been, horrible. The fact that she started her pop career with two dumb songs that verged on anti-gay makes me really wonder why gay men or lesbians like her at all. Is our self-respect THAT low?

I liked the song she did with Zedd. And though both have hits and misses, overall I thought Witness > Prism. Roar is one of the worst, most grating hit songs of all time.

I'm surprised she got as far as she did. For being annoying and not that special, she had pretty impressive success as far as pop music goes (One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, Prism; Superbowl performance; etc.).

I think it's pretty obvious that her reign has been long over and pop music fans have moved on. Witness--five years ago--was the beginning of the end. Smile confirmed it was over.

She was popular when I was in high school and I always hated her music. I remember hearing Firework for the first time in some assembly with the lyric "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag" and thinking it was some parody song.

Pink has been dry for several years as well. Kelly Clarkson is all but retired.

I suspect that the industry has some play in it. Even Kylie's huge song this summer, Padam, got very limited play on UK radio, despite the popularity. They literally just didn't play it - only on minimal rotation.

I know that Radio is no longer the only way to make hits, but without radio play, it really hurts sales.
