I'd rather they go by they/them than ze and hir. They were married as a traditional catholic heterosexual couple in 94. The hair color in my experience is actually totally separate. I have anime obsessed friends who are really straight edge, and they just wear wigs (& don’t dye their hair) for their costumes. Then I have my other, what I call “punk” friends who are really into music, mostly rock/alt/punk and love changing their hair color and style every season. Those friends are really into holidays…like Halloween & Christmas, sometimes they match their hair to the season, and their makeup too.
