Linda Evangelista Back on the Cover of Vogue

Still stunning. She’s almost 60.

Who?

by Anonymousreply 1August 19, 2022 9:59 PM

Good to see her again. Maybe she's been away for too long. Is Carmen dell Orefice still working?

by Anonymousreply 2August 19, 2022 10:02 PM

It’s a great photo, but we’ve all seen what she looks like and that’s not it.

by Anonymousreply 3August 19, 2022 10:05 PM

Every shot covers all of her flaws. And is so airbrushed. She looks amazing. Glad to see her comeback.

by Anonymousreply 4August 19, 2022 10:05 PM

[quote] stunning

And brave?

by Anonymousreply 5August 19, 2022 10:53 PM

Really, only 5 responses to Linda on Vogue at 60?? Really??

by Anonymousreply 6August 24, 2022 1:38 AM

Love the shot

by Anonymousreply 7August 24, 2022 1:39 AM

R6 here again. She may as well be wearing a burqa. Also, here she is sounding reedy and flighty, discussing her career. She was quite the model.

She finally got her fat ass out of bed for 10 dollars.

by Anonymousreply 9August 24, 2022 1:41 AM

Is she wearing hats in all the shots?

by Anonymousreply 10August 24, 2022 1:42 AM

The clothes she’s wearing in the vogue video are absurdly big. The hat tied to her head to hide the chin... she looks ridiculous. She sounds high.

by Anonymousreply 11August 24, 2022 1:47 AM

Madam was the greatest EVER. But this is not it. RuPaul wore the same outfit to hide his oozing facelift incisions. What a shame that Linda is so dumb? Not all the supermodels are so boring and shallow. Linda needs to take up needlepoint or visit the Ukraine.

Evangelista remains one of the top 3 of ALL time.

by Anonymousreply 12August 24, 2022 1:48 AM

fat fat

by Anonymousreply 13August 24, 2022 1:58 AM

This is ridiculous. Could they have covered one more inch of her? They should have just gone full beekeeper.

She's not THAT deformed from the CoolSculpting. Did they do it on her face too? I didn't realize that was possible.

Gorgeous bitch.

by Anonymousreply 15August 24, 2022 2:02 AM

She’s hot.

by Anonymousreply 16August 24, 2022 2:05 AM

With this photo series we’re even closer to living in the matrix a.k.a. never leaving our apartment and just presenting our fantasy selves on social media. Pathetic.

This photoshoot is exactly the same as “Famous Monsters in Filmland” having a pictorial with Lon Chaney Jr as The Wolfman: a costume and effects, as described below.

From the NYT:

“The photo shoot inside the September issue, featuring numerous arresting photos of Ms. Evangelista by Steven Meisel, the photographer who first made her famous, has been likewise raved over and applauded. There she is, her body covered in Alexandre Vauthier leopard print and Chanel tweed and Fendi baby pink mohair, head swathed in matching scarves and jaunty hats, all of it perfectly framing a face that looks as luminous at 57 as it did at 27.

Here she is, in the accompanying interview, entitled “Back in Bloom: The Rebirth of the Indomitable Linda Evangelista,” tackling the issue of fashion photo magic head-on.

“That’s not my jaw and neck in real life — and I can’t walk around with tape and elastics everywhere,” she said in the story, after admitting that the condition known as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, in which fatty tissue grows and hardens instead of shrinking, had made her so depressed she “can’t look in the mirror.” Nor can she bear for anyone to touch her body, she said. And that for the pictures, her skin had been pulled back by the makeup artist Pat McGrath with tape to create a taut effect.

“I’m trying to love myself as I am, but for the photos … ” she said. “Look, for photos I always think we’re here to create fantasies. We’re creating dreams. I think it’s allowed. Also, all my insecurities are taken care of in these pictures, so I got to do what I love to do.”

by Anonymousreply 17August 24, 2022 1:14 PM

She looked better in Dynasty, but she was younger.

They covered this on The Project in Australia last night and the panellists (half male, half female) all appeared to think it was just sad, because all her problems are just about her inability to cope with losing her looks as she ages. Nobody thought she looked any good on that cover. Even if it's true she's disfigured, which they didn't question, they noted it was her own decision to have the procedure to try to hold onto her original looks. As R17 said, she's not just airbrushed, all her skin is taped back.

Has anyone ever seen a picture of her actually looking disfigured, as opposed to looking like an older woman who's got a bit jowly?

by Anonymousreply 20August 24, 2022 2:23 PM

R20, no, but it sounds like she’s not the only one who had that happen from Cool Sculpting. It’s some kind of rare reaction.

They did a bunch of pictures of her with scarves covering the sides of her face. I’m guessing there may be some abnormal lumps somewhere as well as aging.

She seems harmless enough, let her have her fun. She’s not hurting anyone. It must be sad to have been so beautiful and now afraid to even look at yourself. If it was correctable, she could afford it.

by Anonymousreply 21August 24, 2022 2:37 PM

Oh, it's definitely sad. There was likewise lots of sympathy for her on The Project, but it was sympathy for someone who can't see any value in herself beyond her [fading] looks, not for someone who'd had a bad reaction to a procedure.

To some extent she is hurting people. She is playing along with Vogue's fantasy of perfection even though she now knows how much damage that can inflict, and that is bringing up a new generation of woman with the same harmful ideas. I don't think she's doing it in a calculated way, though; more likely her weakness around ageing is in the range that should be getting psych help.

by Anonymousreply 22August 24, 2022 2:44 PM

I don’t think the Cool Sculpting is the total cause of her altered look. It’s aging and gaining weight also. She just doesn’t want to acknowledge that part.

by Anonymousreply 23August 24, 2022 2:44 PM

I see she’s found Madonna’s photo apps.

“Harlow, Jean on the cover of a magazine.”

by Anonymousreply 25August 24, 2022 3:59 PM

I like the pictures but because everyone in fashion is so dramatic and Linda is not in a great place this whole thing has become a huge DRAMA. Pity. I don’t think it had to be like this. Some of questions raised are interesting but they’ve been discussed ad nauseam. Women have trouble aging! No way!!!?

by Anonymousreply 26August 24, 2022 4:01 PM

[quote] “Harlow, Jean on the cover of a magazine.”

If only I had written a lyric that brilliant!

by Anonymousreply 27August 24, 2022 4:03 PM

Are the head wraps because of the cool sculpting problems she had?

by Anonymousreply 28August 25, 2022 12:21 AM

Her cool sculpting deformities were shown in a magazine profile. It can and did happen to her. They are disfiguring to her body. The chance you take with almost any elective procedure.

Her face is taped up and I think she just had a facelift too. So she's being a bit cute about how much they have to tape her face up. Lots of models wear face tape. A lacefront wig will hide that.

Linda doesn't look gorgeous because the whole presentation is so far from reality. Her face does look a lot like Linda Evangelista.

Old models should only model if they do it as themselves. AKA. An old model. Naomi and Linda don't qualify.

Pat Cleveland and Lauren Hutton did it right. They were more than there youth or a "face." Sex appeal and good looks is an ENERGY and modelling is all that plus an attitude.

Linda looks OK - but she's not been Linda Evangelista for a long time. She's freakishly transparent about how fucked up she is to be almost 60. AND, she thinks these concerns are noteworthy. Like there isn't a whole other world going on.

Her coolsculpting deformities are real. She was unlucky. That's why you sign the release before you have it.

by Anonymousreply 29August 25, 2022 3:01 AM

The article accompanying the horrifyingly deceptive photos was just as bad, it seemed to be encouraging her deluded views. The cover might as well be an illustration for all it shows Evangelista’s reality as a supposedly deformed woman. As someone else posted, she needs therapy to help her get past this and get perspective.

by Anonymousreply 30August 25, 2022 3:09 AM

Of course she's a mess, she worked really hard to be a top model, in a way that others work to be successful in fields that require intelligence or skill. There's something very sad about someone who worked incredibly hard to be sucessful in a field that only requires you to look good. She set herself up for her own fall and unlike her buddy Christy T. didn't seem to recognize the fleeting nature of her career and positon and so didn't attempt to develop any sort of skill set.

by Anonymousreply 31August 25, 2022 3:20 AM

Isn't this a case of the dress wearing the woman?

by Anonymousreply 32August 25, 2022 3:27 AM

Yes, that's it, R32.

Linda was never the transparent natural kind of model. Though she was the very best at what she did. High Fashion. Some time ago.

Living Legend

by Anonymousreply 36August 25, 2022 6:36 AM

That’s not fashion. That’s a bedspread.

Low effort.

by Anonymousreply 37August 25, 2022 6:42 AM

How did she ever find the courage with that fat ass?

by Anonymousreply 38August 25, 2022 6:43 AM

She should just model for cool sculpting lawsuit lawyers with a past and current photos.

by Anonymousreply 39August 25, 2022 8:36 AM

Fuck The Project and their big “there are good people on both sides” energy.

Midget Steve, Collingwood-supporter Peter, ”I’m not one of THOSE Muslims” Waleed, Lisa who made her name destroying the self-esteem of teenage girl and Carrie who has never been seen on TV in 20 years without hair extensions, Botox and a fake tan can pipe down.

This is some Alexis Carrington nee Little Edie shit. Joan Crawford is rolling in her grave, angry she didn't think how to disguise her neck first.

Linda and Valerie should get together and cry in each other’s arms.
