If you liked Homeland, you will like Tehran

Just finished binging the two seasons on Apple TV and was more entertained than any other series in recent memory. Some super hotties in Season 2 like Darius Homayoun and Sia Alipour. Can't wait for Season 3! Have you watched DL?

One thing completely horseshit about these secret agents from one country infiltrates another country hoping not to get caught is the language factor. Unless you've spoken the language from a young age and/or have an ear for mimicry, within a minute of you opening your mouth, both the goodies and the baddies will know that you ain't one of them, that you're a "foreigner". And not only that, they can usually tell where you're from by the way in which you speak their language.

Yeah, I’m good, bro.

“If you liked Homeland, we have something derivative of it”

by Anonymousreply 3August 18, 2022 1:02 PM

Any full frontal?

by Anonymousreply 4August 18, 2022 1:03 PM

r1 The Mossad agent was born in Tehran and all of the local agents (save Glenn Close in Season 2) are Persian. No r4.

by Anonymousreply 5August 18, 2022 2:56 PM

Oh, Persian??

*interest intensifies*

by Anonymousreply 6August 18, 2022 6:09 PM

Sia Alipour

Nope.

Apple TV+ is for the rich people

by Anonymousreply 9August 18, 2022 6:18 PM

Three months free because my guy got a new iPhone. We won't be subscribing, but this show impressed me.

by Anonymousreply 10August 18, 2022 6:21 PM

Darius, so adorable

Season 1 was great, but the acting went downhill in the second season.

I enjoyed Tehran despite the ongoing incongruity of Glenn Close? In this? Really?

by Anonymousreply 13August 18, 2022 6:25 PM

I'm so tired of anything middle east. They are draining.

by Anonymousreply 14August 18, 2022 8:33 PM

^ No joy comes out from that region. It's a hamster wheel of whining and kvetching and fighting. It never ends, never rests.

by Anonymousreply 15August 18, 2022 9:13 PM

Spoken like two people who have no idea what the fuck they're talking about...

by Anonymousreply 16August 18, 2022 9:22 PM

OK -- I enjoyed the first season, even if the pace was a bit too frenetic for me to really appreciate all the nuances.

But Season 2 "jumped the shark" for me **spoiler alert** when, after all the brouhaha of the process of smuggling the young couple out, Tamar urged Milad to leave without her and then they both decided to stay. WTF?? What kind of a nut would stay in the country after all that? That just blew the whole thing for me. That both of them would choose to stay was patently ridiculous. I tried to keep watching, but it seems eye-rolling excruciatingly painful after that.

I'm very disappointed.

R5 Might work. If the agent worked very hard to lose her Israeli accent in Farsi.

by Anonymousreply 18August 20, 2022 7:09 AM

You need to suspend belief a lot, but it's pretty exciting. And some of the Iranians are to die for. It's too bad none of us can travel safely to Iran because it seems to be full of hot men. Then again, they filmed it in Greece.

by Anonymousreply 19August 20, 2022 7:16 AM

Tehran is 'better than nothing,' but I miss having a great thriller series to look forward to about the Middle East.

OP, if you like these shows, you will love FAUDA. Be sure to watch in the original Israeli with the subtitles, not the one dubbed in English!

If you haven't seen Le Bureau des Legendes (The Bureau), one of the best non-local series accurately depicting Middle East realities and definitely worth a look. Five seasons, all available for free streaming online. With English subs, if you don't understand French. The first three seasons center on the Middle East, last two on Russia.

by Anonymousreply 21August 20, 2022 7:50 AM

Yep r20, binged all three seasons of Fauda in about three weeks and want more! Thanks r21!

by Anonymousreply 22August 20, 2022 1:45 PM

Watching sweaty Lior Raz is not exactly a hard day at the office.

by Anonymousreply 23August 20, 2022 2:14 PM

Omg, r12, what is that picture holy shit

HAHAHAHAHAHA

by Anonymousreply 24August 20, 2022 2:16 PM

R19, your last two sentences made me laugh audibly.

by Anonymousreply 25August 20, 2022 2:18 PM

Middle East Realities would be a good band name

by Anonymousreply 26August 20, 2022 2:18 PM

All Israeli shows have an extraordinary amount of male eye candy.

by Anonymousreply 27August 20, 2022 2:25 PM

The last episode is something of a metaphor for Glenn's career (and no, it does not involve a resurrection scene).

by Anonymousreply 28August 20, 2022 3:47 PM

Sia Alipour wears lots of unbuttoned designer shirts. and works out in the gym he owns.

How does it compare to The Bureau, the best show of this genre, of all time?

by Anonymousreply 32August 20, 2022 4:17 PM

The Bureau is a much, much better show. Tehran borders on the ridiculous in nearly every episode.

by Anonymousreply 33August 20, 2022 4:26 PM

Not like us!

- Datalounge

by Anonymousreply 34August 20, 2022 4:27 PM

Thanks for suggesting The Bureau, can't wait to start watching!

by Anonymousreply 35August 20, 2022 4:33 PM

Tehran might be ridiculous at times but you have to admit it's entertaining... perfect after a long day at work.

by Anonymousreply 36August 20, 2022 4:42 PM

You will really love The Bureau. I first heard about it here, and watched it all the way through twice in short order. The second season is largely set in Iran and it's probably the strongest season of the whole series.

by Anonymousreply 37August 22, 2022 1:56 AM

If you liked cleavage, you will like the buttcrack!

by Anonymousreply 38August 22, 2022 2:45 AM

Homeland was Women’s Programming and thus, quite lame.
