Why did GENEVIEVE BUJOLD 's career go straight down the shitter ?

I love this movie. She is an excellent petulant princess while Richard Burton puts his usual tendency towards being hammy to good use.

I thought she may have been too old for the role in Dead Ringers.

I loved her in "Coma"; in fact, I love "Coma," a movie that seems to have disappeared.....She made some impossibly weird choices--I mean, "Earthquake"? She was ALL WRONG.

Coma is currently streaming on HBOMax.

She was signed to a contract w/ Universal and refused a role they wanted her for after Anne of a Thousand Days, and went abroad and did art films (not nudies) for three years. She finally settled things with Universal an they put her straight into Earthquake. She then did Swashbuckler, Obsession and Coma, and a few others.

And then she turned 40.

She was cast as the original Captain Janeway on Star Trek Voyager but got cold feet and dashed from the set in a state of shame before the first day's shoot was completed.

Claudine Longet bitchslapped her.
